It could be either way, depending on which one was installed last. Could you try to install the locally-built deb, like (1 line) sudo dpkg -i /sw/fink/10.5/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/libs/gmp-shlibs_4.2.2-1001_darwin-powerpc.deb and see if this changes anything?
