 What we probably need is a log scale slider to give finer control at the
low end.

10 is usable here - and is about right for dense woods. 10 is good for towns
too. That said, perhaps representing dense woods or jungle with many
individual trees might not be the best way of doing it. Canopy and forest
edge might be more effective. I think we tried that at one point, but
dropped it when workable trees came along.
