Hi everyone,

I feel like I need to express my agreement with DrSlony, but let me
first thank you for the great work on geeqie. For debian users such as
me, there is nothing to worry about due to the quick integration of
updates into the debian repos.
Still for a user or potential contributer that heard about geeqie and is
looking for information on it, the current situation does not suggest an
active project. There are two factors: Firstly, many pages still point
to sourceforge. Secondly if someone found out that geeqie.org is the
real project homepage, on the first glance it looks abandoned.
About the first part: Googles first hit is sourceforge (nothing easy to
do about that), second hit (for me being German-speaking) is an
ubuntuusers.de article with links pointing to sourceforge (I corrected
this, hopefully it will remain) and then a wikipedia article containing
correct links.
What is in my opinion really problematic is the content of geeqie.org:
The front page is old and all links except Download, Git Source and
Mailingslists point to the sourceforge frontpage of geeqie. As a user
the first links I will look at are certainly those pointing to
sourceforge. This shows also in the amount of downloads of geeqie from
sourceforge and the occasionally used sourceforge bugtracker.
So my proposition is to update the front page and point the links to
some placeholder saying something like: Sorry, nobody currently
maintains the webpage, but the code is regularly updated. Feel free to
contact the user mailing list for questions or devel mailing list if you
are interested in helping with the documentation or code. I just feel
like anything is better than a link to sourceforge.
I will gladly propose something for the latter part, but it will really
be restricted to content, as I am a novice to both open-source projects
and "webdesgin". If you agree with the above and want me to create
something, please tell me and I will come up with something (when time
permits).

Cheers,
Simon
