It also reveals the cause, not that you have used --tree. You are trying to rebuild dbus with the systemd USE flag, no wonder it wants systemd! Next step: grep -r systemd /etc/portage -- Neil Bothwick "A snooze button is a poor substitute for no alarm clock at all."
