I really wish you folks would get your semantics clear. The original problem and solution proves the facts without need for further discussion.
1. Take a perfectly good, LRECL=80 PDS. Maybe to be really clear, find a PDS with LERECL > 133. 2. trash it by pointing any SYSOUT DD to a "NEW" member. The original problem is now there and: 3. confirm that the DSCB in the VTOC for the PDS now claims LRECL=133 (or maybe 121). 4. Fail to browse using ISPF or read any older member using IEBGENER 5. Run IEBGENER specifying (overriding) LRECL=correctlrecl,BLKSIZE=correct(old)blksize) on the input DD and it works. 6. Run IEBGENER to a new member or even the "bad" member specifying (overriding) LRECL=80 (old lrecl) 7. PDS is now fixed.
