At the time we talked to some other shops and they had the same experience so we went back to LLC2.
I was just talking to another co-worker. He indicated that IBM had problems with there TN3270 Server early on with dropped sessions. IBM came out with many fixes for the TN3270 server and was stablized by 2005-2006.
