I also like the results of enabling the sharpness enhancer (which is on on 250/350s)

Here's some idea as to how things affect your picture. Something I forgot to point out was that when the card starts recording some of the values above (comb 3/2 ln enable and phase limit) are set to their default vaules. So, keep encoding running while you tweak the values. I run mplayer /dev/video0 -framedrop -nocache, and tweak the settings from another PC vi ssh. -- If your picture is blurry, try upping CCOMB_ERR_LIMIT and COMB_PHASE_LIMIT. If either of these values are exceeded, the filter drops back to "notch" mode, which produces a blurry picture. Since this is dynamic depending on the incoming picture, if the value here is too low you'll see the picture seem to snap into and out of "focus". Setting this value too high will create chroma noise artifacts visible in large areas of smooth color. -- The luma comb filter produces good results, but can really f your picture up if the incoming signal is bad. If your picture looks like this:

Then your source is too noisy for the luma comb to do a good job. Lower your LCOMB_ERR_LIMIT until the errors go away.

Today I like:
CCOMB_ERR_LIMIT=120
LCOMB_ERR_LIMIT=10
COMB_PHASE_LIMIT=40
PEAK_EN=1
PEAK_SEL=2

I also like the hue (ivtvctl -y hue=X) more toward green. Somewhere around 15 is good.
