Hallo Hans, Hallo everybody else! Hans, as you mentioned, I did some further testing on my PVR350 picture problem. I testet all the .3.7 and the .3.8 release. I always did a cold reboot between driver-updates and unplugged powercord to make sure the capacitators are empty.
My results are: .3.6?? -> Picture OK upgraded to 0.3.8 --> picture bad (see http://orpheus.ram.rwth-aachen.de/test.mpg for example; again I have to say: I have strict trafficlimit at university, so please do not download for fun. thx! ;) ) also 0.3.8 gives error messages in dmesg: Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: decoder set picture bright=1 contrast=63 saturation=-153598336 hue=-536905984 Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: invalid saturation setting -153598336<6>saa7115: decoder set picture bright=1 contrast=-1069805324 saturation=63 hue=-536905984 Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: invalid contrast setting -1069805324<6>saa7115: decoder set picture bright=127 contrast=-1069805324 saturation=-153598336 hue=-536905984 Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: invalid contrast setting -1069805324<6>saa7115: decoder set picture bright=1 contrast=-1069805324 saturation=-153598336 hue=0 Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: invalid contrast setting -1069805324<6>saa7115: decoder disable output Sep 20 18:51:52 mythbox saa7115: decoder enable output these messages result in the above mentioned picture. what I did then: install 0.3.7k --> same effect install 0.3.7a --> everything OK install 0.3.7b-f --> everything OK install 0.3.7g --> the picture was much to dark, but I am able to restore a good picture using mythtv's picture-controls (g-key in Live-TV). As you cycle through the different settings, picture flickers between normal and dark, giving similar messages in dmesg, but with varying settings for contrast, hue, brightness and saturation. If I change channels i have to reset the settings again (e.g.: set brightness from 50% --> 51% -->50%). To me it seems as if mythtv or the ivtv-driver itself randomly changes the settings for those items, which I did not change in myth. So if I cycle through all settings doing the 50->51->50-thing, this results in the flicker described above. Also each time I change such a setting, dmesg gives similar messages as the ones above- install 0.3.7h-j --> same effects as 0.3.7g install 0.3.7k --> bright picture, same as 0.3.8, see URL above for sample-mpg-file. Also with this driver-versions I cannot make the picture look goog by changing settings for contrast, hue, brightness and saturation. I also played around with the picture-controls via ivtvctl, but they don't change anything either. In dmesg those tries give messages about changing the correct setting, directly followed by a change-back to the invalid setting. Playing /dev/video0 with myplayer doesn't show any noticable flicker while changing settings with ivtvctl manually and resetting to the invalid settings. So... long mail, but this is all information I could gather. Hope it gives you a clue on what problem(s) I'm facing. -- Realität ist da, wo der Pizzamann herkommt... ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server.
