Sorry, I should have been clearer: you have to test with the -y option of
ivtvctl to see if you also get these messages. I don't think that these
controls (hue, etc) are set by the ivtv driver when it is loaded, so it is
to be expected that you don't see any messages until MythTV is started.
What I need to know is if they also appear when the control is set using
ivtvctl.

Well, the first problem should be easier to solve and the second problem
may well be caused by way off hue settings, etc. So for now I go for the
easier problem first and with a bit of luck the second is also solved.
