In msconfig under the boot tab is the option to remove any other OS's if
any from the boot manager. The timeout wont allow anything less than 3
seconds..

Hi.
If you're interested in throwing money at a problem like this, a solid
state disk is the answer. Other than that, just getting the boot
process to be more efficient is the key, but the challenge is knowing
just what is being inefficient about it. Some computers have a boot
selection menu that appears if the system has some sort of or has in
the past had some sort of dual boot capability. If this appears it'll
wait for a good 30 seconds or so for you to pick the OS you want to
start before it starts up the default one, and this problem can be
present even if it is no longer dual boot capable.
If this is the issue, you can fix it either by removing the extra OS
(don't know how to do that on the top of my head), or go to run and
type msconfig. On the boot tab of the resulting screen, set the
timeout to 5. I wouldn't recommend setting it lower than 2 because it
might make it impossible to do certain recovery actions before the
boot process starts, and that's not desirable. So the idea here is to
get the screen to come up just long enough to be able to tap the right
button or what have you, but not long enough to lag the boot process
moere than a few seconds. Be careful in msconfig, there are plenty of
intricate and interesting ways to break things in there. Don't change
anything you're not positive you understand.

My computer had been starting slowly for a long time. I was having
trouble with Office 365, so I called the Microsoft Disability

up my computer at startup by disabling a number of programs in
msconfig. I don't recommend looking at this lightly because doing so
without knowing what you are doing could keep your computer from
starting properly. once I understood what she was doing, things
indeed went much faster, even though I put back a few programs I
wanted. Thus, your issues may involve JAWS by itself, be in
combination wwith other programs, or not JAWS related at all.

My computer started to take a long time to start up after I went from
window eyes and installed Jaws 18.

Laura, you are lucky your computer is ready to use so quickly.
Mine takes almost 2 minutes before I hear, "JAWS Home Use." Drives

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Strange occurrence turning on the computer
Hello,
Jaws 18 and Windows 10 ..
Normally when I turn the computer on I wait approximately 10 to 20
seconds
and then Jaws will say "Jaws home use" and I'm ready to go.
Yesterday, when I turned the computer on after about 5 or 10
seconds Jaws
said "Jaws for windows, overlay windows zero, overlay windows zero,
overlay
windows zero". Then, after another 5 or 10 seconds Jaws said "Jaws
home
use" and I was ready to go.
I've had this computer for almost four months and this has never
happened.
Has anybody experienced anything like this and is this something to be
concerned about? Thanks for any input.
Laura
