Hi,

Some time ago I reported problems with a LaCie USB2.0 external
harddisk and complete system lockup. My hardware setup is simple,
attach LaCie disk to laptop, load relevant modules, check that disk
appears in /dev/scsi/...

My usage of the storage was perhaps less straight forward. I was using
CryptoAPI and loopmounting the created partitions using AES encryption
and using ReiserFS or EXT2 on top of that. I know the cryptoloop
procedure works, as I have a 0.5GB filesystem in LVM that works quite
nicely that way.

Yesterday I pulled the latest code from CVS having seen that a few
files was updated some days ago. Built and installed the modules and
tried again over night. This time I skipped the cryptoloop step and
just put a ReiserFS directly on the partition on the LaCie disk. 9.8GB
of data backed up quite nicely over night and all seems to have worked
quite happily without errors.

I will re-run this test using the cryptoloop step to verify wether the
problem lies in the loop/CryptoAPI code or in the USB Storage
code.

To sum up, the LaCie USB2.0 harddisk is now fully functional AFAICT. I
am running the code that is in CVS as of 2002-04-04.

/Anders
