All,

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I find it interesting that as
late as Burwell, the sarabande played on the lute may be used for dancing:

"To make people dance with the lute it is improper; it is true that a young
lady may dance the saraband with her lute, and that is all."

Thurston Dart, "Miss Mary Burwell's Instruction Book for the Lute." The Galpin
Society Journal, Vol. 11, (May, 1958), p. 62.

Cheers,
Jorge Torres
