I have to admit that I ignored some font oddities I saw since my upgrade to 
Snow Leopard.
And it's not only LyX where I saw it. The umlauts of times roman fonts e.g.
Maybe it's not a Qt or LyX problem...

I see. I would act likewise if I had to responsibility :)

I've some unfinished work with spell checkers and a real life too.
But having a look is possible.
