Yes, the new code went out with S10u3 -- the December 2006 release
entitled 11/06.  ;-}

Actually, the extensions are *far* older than that.  They're
compatible with the extensions present in Trusted Solaris 8 and
previous releases.  My time machine is on the fritz right now, but
otherwise I'd volunteer to go back and help change that release.

In the spirit of a review, no such code diffs or design figuring would
really have needed to have been done.  Instead, noting the difference
between the two standards and asking the project team (during ARC or
design review) to consider the newer standard would have been fair.

I can't predict exactly how that alternate reality would have played
out, but I strongly suspect the answer would have been, "thanks, but
we have TS8 customers who need to upgrade to TX in S10, and tar
compatibility is a key part of that story."

No slap needed, as best I can tell.  It's in PSARC 2005/723.
