What version are you using?

The expected response is that calling OW::put 29.E53401000000/PIO.BYTE 161
would check the presence of 29.E53401000000 (rebuilding the presence in
cache) before doing the write.

I'll test to see if this is what actually happens.

Writing 0 to the timeout makes the value uncachable -- so looked up every
time. Writing a large value will keep the value in cache for an hour or two.
