You can imagine one's consternation when a company chooses someone
you've been talking to in the lounge who said that he's nervous because
his only unix experience was a few lab hours sharing a unix terminal.
Oh well, would we be considered lucky to have learned skills that few
schools could even teach a few years back?
And even luckier still that we have employers who needed actual
demonstrable skills?
