   Not this again!  I've run into this before.  Turns out there are two 
versions of JACK.  Version 1 is written in C, 2 in C++.  2 offers a few 
extra features, but I don't think it's anything significant.  Ubuntu 
won't let you install both JACK1 and JACK2.  Somebody somewhere requires 
JACK1 yet you've got JACK2 installed.  It would be safe to go ahead and 
let it remove JACK2.  You can always just reinstall JACK2 later which 
will uninstall JACK1 and whatever it was that depended on JACK1.

   It's rather silly, really.

   Since you've got it working on another machine, I won't go into much 
more detail, but I do have a list of the packages you will need to 
install, and that list might get you around this problem and leave JACK2 
intact.  It's doable.  Just takes some time.
