I'd like to change how the Notation editor decides which segment to
initially select.
I think the proposed behavior is something everybody will like, but I've
been wrong about that before so I raise it for discussion.
Specifically, when the editor opens or when the user moves to another
track (Alt-down, alt-up), I'd like it to select the segment of that track
that contains the time of the playback pointer.
For example, suppose you have four segments on two tracks:
* Segment 1A, track one, bars 1 to 9.
* Segment 1B, track one, bars 10 to 19.
* Segment 2A, track two, bars 1 to 9.
* Segment 2B, track two, bars 10 to 19.
Say user has playback pointer at bar 15 and he opens the notation editor
with all segemnts selected. The editor will start with Segment 1B or 2B
selected, because they contain the start of bar 15 which playback is at,
while 1A and 2A don't.
(We seem to choose the initial track in an arbitrary manner. I don't
think it's worth doing anything about that. Let's say it starts on 1B)
Now user moves down a track (alt-down). Editor goes to segment 2B,
because that contains bar 15 and 2A doesn't.
Now user moves playback to measure 5, then moves up a track. Editor goes
to segment 1A, because it contains measure 5.
So within segments on the same track, it would start on the segment that
the playback pointer is in. Failing that, it uses the nearest.
What do you think?
