Hi Andre and all --

My week has been taken with digging out the main sewer line in front of the
house to see why roots are getting in. It shouldn’t be happening in new,
modern plumbing, but it did. Going down five feet in hard clay and big rocks
found the answer – the line had been improperly put together. So, next
Tuesday the real plumbers come out and finish the job the way it should have
been done. With some luck, that will be the end of brass loco sized plumber
charges.

Not much accomplished on the railroad as the above pretty much tapped out this
66 year body. I did order more decals for my narrow gauge Coal Creek Central
after finding that I had not made the best of choices in the original batch.
This situation was discovered while doing some decal work on some newly painted
narrow gauge stuff. I also had a nice chat with Bill Peter of P-B-L fame.
He was happily impressed with the response to the standard gauge Shays and it
looks like the upcoming standard gauge Climaxes are following suit. Of
course, he is looking for still more reservations, both standard and narrow
gauge...

Good to hear that you have joined the NASG, Andre. You have come on at an
opportune time, as the latest “Dispatch” from the new editor should be arriving
any second. Bill Pyper is asking every one to let him know when they get
their October issue so he has a better handle on how long they take to go from
the printer to your hands. The December issue is well under way with the
regular deadline already past, but if you have something really good to put in,
I am sure he will find a way to do it. In fact, he is also doing early work
on the February issue, so I have every expectation that he will meet our first
requirement of him -- having the “Dispatch” in your hands within the cover
date month.

Along these lines, I am considering having the “Dispatch” schedule changed to
odd month dates instead of the current even month dates. I think that will
improve its timeliness relative to the seasons and various S scale events. I
would like to hear from anyone who has an opinion about this. You can get to
me via scaleso...@cableone.net or by hitting my name on the “About” page of the
NASG website ( www.nasg.org ).

I guess you can say some of my hobby time has been taken by NASG affairs, but
this is enjoyable work...

Have fun!

Hi All! It's FNF 10/4/13!

Time for us to all update what we've been doing in S scale. I'll go first:

It's been a hectic two weeks on account of my wife's father's last days and
eventual passing. However, among the busy schedule of late, I taken some of my
time that becomes available and have been dusting off my stuff, continuing to
take inventory, and getting some things headed my way so I can further
projects. Such as...

* Ordered a good chunk of S scale detail parts order from Bill's Train Shop for
my various engine projects.

* Purchased some Wiseman S scale detail parts off eBay.

* Purchased the needed items from Northwest Short Line to re-power one of my
Baldwin's to see if it would be worth the effort (and thus re-power them all).
They run pretty darn good as is, but being a "performance freak", I am
wondering if I can make them even a smidge better.

* Purchased "CB&Q In Color Vol. 3" that has some excellent KC area shots
therein.

* OH... and it's official now: I'm a bonafide member on NASG! I received my
member's packet and THREE Dispatch issues in the mail this week.

In all, things are reviving and ever so slowly I'm figuring out where I'm at in
my modeling and taking steps to have the needed items in order to make some
tangible progress.

All from me... who's next?

Andre Ming
