increased capacity with VXA, and switched to using Backup Server
rather than Backup scripts. Backups are now easier to manage than
before despite the increased volume. When I manage to fill up a tape
I'll have some idea of the compression, but still doing incrementals
to th
d hardware to read the backup (including drivers
if appropriate).

For "ideal" backups to VXA across 100Mb ethernet from a fast client
with large files, I see speeds like this:

managed to eventually find the cause of the problem Retrospect has
exposed, but it isn't always convenient to track down these subtle
problems right away, and it certainly hurts when Retrospect is
(apparently) the only application affected by a problem.

(I only reset my backup sets about every three months. I run nightly
incremental backups to whichever of three independent backup sets I
happen to have in the tape drive. Backup Server is great!)
