My October DISPATCH arrived in zip code 48363 yesterday. I particularly
enjoyed the excellent photos of the contest winners and the nice photos of the
layouts that were on the tours. I look forward to seeing the layout reviews in
each issue that Bill is going to try to run. And as a what can

Some time ago we had discussion of scale wheelsets for the Lionel SD70, and I
don't remember it coming to a conclusion. Maybe I missed it. But I mentioned
my concern, since I have two SD70s, to a correspondent not in this group and
he said he had got his. He gave me a part number. He aslo

Well, scratch that Great Idea, I guess. What's it going to take to get a
mid-(Civil War period) 19th Century 4-4-0 and rolling stock to match, assuming
I would live long enough to see it?
I already know what I could do with the Franklin passenger cars.

The. A/F Franklin in S IS an interesting beastie. Drive is basically from
a 302. Smoke unit is HO. Engine and cars are oversized. Working on
installing Amber lighting strips from DALLEE in 2 coaches.Lots of Franklins
around, far fewer Washington sets around.
The H O version is
as seen on page 37 of October 2013 RMC. Has anyone tried adopting this to S
scale for a gas-car or RDC- car use. Does this supersede the Black Beetle
available in the past.

Could your Stanton Drive power truck be adapted to S scale in terms of axle
length, wheel diameter, and wheelbase length. Thanks Much.

The Mantua HO General 4-4-0 came out before W W II. The first loco I ever
owned. Die Cast

Am I understanding this...you are looking for an HO something from which to
build an S scale Civil War era 4-4-0? If so you might have better luck going up
a scale to O. Bachmann's On30 4-4-0 broke my heart because its prototype was

Hi Dave. I can't speak for the Stanton but the Black Beetle is still around,
being produced by Steam Era Models in Victoria. I ordered a power and a dummy
bogie (as they're called Downunder) for a future locomotive project. Even
without any weight on it, it runs like silk. You can get it in S
