Actually the Javascript turned out to be a red herring. Here's a tool I wrote for OpenWRT that does exactly that: http://seiner.com/cz/aap It's built around OpenWRT's UCI config tool, but you might be able to use it anyway. The script scans for APs, then tries any it has auth tokens for and any open ones. The keepalives are external scripts that return 0 if there's a valid connection, and 0 if not. [Angstrom-distro-users] mplayer and zaurus text screen blanking
(This is more in the way of archiving than anything else. Maybe it will save someone a few days of frustration.) For the last few days I've been fighting a battle to get mplayer playing nicely on my zaurus. So I installed mplayer from the ipk, and got a little script going to transcode my movies for the zaurus. I ran into some trouble getting mplayer to play within the X11 environment, so I change to vt 1 and play directly on the framebuffer. This worked fine, except after 10 minutes the screen would go blank. So I spent lots of time screwing around with ipaq-sleep and apm to no avail. Disabled both (renamed the binaries and rebooted) and still, screen would go blank after 10 minutes. Hitting any key would restore the screen - for another 10 minutes. After having eliminated everything else, I finally figured out that the terminal itself is going blank after 10 minutes. A simple echo -e '\033[9;0]' before I start mplayer cures the problem. Stanislav Brabec wrote: Yan Seiner wrote: My zaurus spitz comes with a CF and an SD card slot. Is there a panel applet that lets me mount and more importantly unmount those cards before yanking them? Mount should happen automatically. As default mount options contain sync, you can eject you card whenever no writing is in progress (at least for vfat and other filesystems without dirty flag). But I agree, that feedback is needed. I am not aware of any suitable tool for GPE. I am inclined to reopen bug http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3070 It seems to be a real problem, as many combinations of card program still write ~60kB/sec with sync mount and ~1500kB/sec with async mount. It was researched in past: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=105871 The result is the flush mount option, which behaves like async, but flushes all pending buffers during close(), retaining both the maximal write speed on flash devices and consistent system state after calling close() (or from GUI perspective: When save finishes.) However busybox mount seems to be not yet aware of flush mount option, so some code changes would be required. OK, I uploaded a quick and dirty 'replacement' for matchbox-applet-cards. It will mount/unmount flash memory cards and take wifi down. It will turn socket power on and off. See http://bugs.openembedded.net/show_bug.cgi?id=4363 You need xdialog to make it work. Get it here: http://www.seiner.com/spitz/armv5te/xdialog_2.3.1-r0_armv5te.ipk and then get cardmon: http://www.seiner.com/spitz/cardmon.tar.gz and untar it into the root dir. It will create two new applets: /usr/local/bin/cfeject and /usr/local/bin/sdeject, along with appropriate pixmaps and files. Anyone have Angstrom working on a platform that meets those needs? I developed a custom panel for my last employer that used a 5 QVGA B/W LCD and was intended for outside applications. It wasn't touchscreen but Hyes (the LCD manufacturer) could add touch and backlight for the right qty order. It used the TS7300 and the standard debian ARM distro, not angstrom, though. Not sure what your application is and how many you're looking to purchase, and what you mean by 'very low cost' The TS7300, a daughterboard to drive the LCD, and the LCD itself cost about $400 in qty of 100. Marlon Smith Xmms needs a few extra plugins, which are available in the feeds. First, for alsa output: xmms-plugin-output-alsa and for mp3 playback: xmms-mad and for ogg playback: xmms-tremor (although I haven't tried ogg playback personally). Zaurus used to have a tendency to have everything muted on install, but I am not sure if that is still true for the more recent versions.. You need at least bitbake 1.8.10 or even 1.8.11 for dev. bbclasses are being revamped by rp in dev. selene:/etc/udev# bitbake --version BitBake Build Tool Core version 1.8.10, bitbake version 1.8.10 Must be bitbake 1.8.11 Can you make any suggestions? Can I just copy the 2.6.24 stuff from dev to stable, and change the distro/machine spec files? You can copy from dev packages/linux/linux-rp_2.6.24.bb packages/linux/linux-rp-2.6.24, and any required .inc files to stable. remove the line: DEFAULT_PREFERENCE = -1 from linux-rp_2.6.24.bb bitbake linux-rp-2.6.24 I can't guarantee it will work but give it a try. If it doesn't work, please don't complain in angstrom-dev and don't tell Koen I told you these ;-) Oh heck no, I wouldn't complain :-) It's all part of the deal. When I break something I keep both pieces. --Yan ___ Angstrom-distro-users mailing list Angstrom-distro-users@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/angstrom-distro-users

[Angstrom-distro-users] marvell 8385 802.11g wifi cards
Can anyone give me any suggestions on getting this card working? I've been through this project, but I guess I don't quite understand how it's organized. When I try to pull from git, it looks as though I get the whole kernel, not just the driver. I don't really mind building the kernel, but I don't want to hose my existing installation. http://projects.linuxtogo.org/projects/marvell8385/ Any suggestions or guidance on how to play with this?
