A cosh or a blade can and in some cases they do kill. The underlaying argument here is the same one that the police in the U.S. are trying very had to get people to accept. That is, if someone breaks into your house, pick up the phone and call the police. Then you can pray that the police arraive before the bad guys find you. When I first moved to Sunny, Southern California there was an incident reported in the local paper. An 84 year old man living alone in an apartment was awakened by a noise in is living room. He got up and went to the door to the living room and saw a large man in the process of robbing him. The robber saw him and told him to go back to bed before he got hurt. The old man had an old army 45 hanging from a nail by the door. He took the 45, shot the intruder 3 times and then called the police. The indruder lived. Firearms can and do make a difference. the chance of death is very much increased when guns are involved as oipposed to any other weapon. In the U.S., when the occupant of the house/apartment is armed, it is the intruder who winds up with holes in them. Mostly going to terrorist groups- it is no surprise that the increase in particularly ex-military weapons coincides with a rearming by the dissident republican groups in ireland. -Caveat Lector- To those on the list who are interested in the problem of Cardinal Mahoney writing a letter to the President asking for a pardon for a convicted drug dealer. We know that the Cardinal wrote the letter asking for the pardon, and then publicly stated that he wished he hadn't broken a long standing policy of his not write that kind of a letter. It has been alleged that Cardinal Mahoney is a member of the AmCatholic Church whose aim is the destruction of the Roman Catholic Church. It has been further alleged that Cardinal Mahoney has been seen taking part in rituals that are satanic in nature, i.e., saying mass using tacos and beer in place of the host and wine. It has also been alleged that the Cardinal is a communist or best a socialist and because of this and all the above, he has lost his church facilities and is no longer a true priest/bishop of the church.
