[Dspace-tech] DSpace: Internal Server Error
Hi All, This is from Shivakumara RM, working as librarian in Bangalore. I have installed Dspace 1.7.0 on Windows Platform. It was working fine and then *windows patches has been installed* by system admin afterwards dspace home page will open but there is no communities and collection, which I have been created. In home page it shows that internal server error!!!. I have noticed that there is no dspace database in postgres. What could be the problem. Kindly let me know the solution to the above problem. I am getting the following email alert. I am getting the following email alert. This error just means that DSpace cannot connect to the database, it doesn't say that the database is empty. This is most likely because you forgot to set database information in dspace. During the upgrade, you probably didn't fill in configuration options of your institutution in the new dspace.cfg in [dspace-src]/dspace/config/dspace.cfg which gets copied to [dspace]/config/dspace.cfg. You can still find a backup of the old dspace.cfg in [dspace]/config-[date_of_upgrade]/dspace.cfg. Please, follow the manual when doing upgrades, this wouldn't happen. If the database is really empty, you'll have to restore it from backup. This could have happened if you used ant fresh_install instead of ant update when upgrading. Again, please follow the manual closely. Re: [Dspace-tech] How to clear all monthly reports and start from the beginning
Hello again, I am asking once more in case someone missed my last email. It will be really helpful if anyone can point me to the right direction. I did the following since my last email. I edited dstat.cfg and changed start.year to 2001 and start.month to 11. I then cleared /[dspace]/reports and executed /dspace stat-initial/. Still the same problem. [Dspace-tech] Turning off SOLR stats
Hi, Our SOLR stats have been flaky for a while but have now reached the point where they are bringing our server down, so I want to turn them off completely (until I can find time to work on it and get them working properly), but this doesn't seem as simple as I hoped it would be! It was a long time ago that I set this up, so can't remember how I turned them on (and can't find anything specific in the documentation). I've tried a couple of things in dspace.cfg (e.g. commenting out solr.log.server), but, although this seems to have stopped the errors, I still see LoggerUsageEventListener lines in the logs, and the View Statistics button is still there (using JSPUI). Anyone have any pointers how to completely disable the SOLR stats (so that DSpace isn't trying to log events, and, perhaps more importantly, so that the View Statistics button disappears)? Michael: Our Solr Stats at Cornell University, also, began to give us troubles, so what I did to (sort of) shut them down is simply remove the button from the Community, Collection and Item pages. That way, the Solr stats run in the background but since no one is requesting any reports, the CPU usage is normal and we no longer have any problems. I am not sure if this will be of help to you or whether you are using the XMLUI or JSPUI, but I found it fairly easy in the JSPUI to remove the buttons requesting statistics and can give you the exact lines to remove, if you want. Re: [Dspace-tech] Turning off SOLR stats
Thanks George, so what I did to (sort of) shut them down is simply remove the button from the Community, Collection and Item pages OK - I had hoped that I could get rid of these via Configuration, but I'm guessing not :-( One problem I have is that one of our sys admins recently deleted the DSpace source code from my server (he thought he was helping to clear disk space, not realising that I have substantially customised our DSpace source code! Oh, and he deleted it from both DEV and PRODUCTION - don't ask!), so, until I have time to reconstruct my customised code I am a little handicapped in what I can do - I guess I could just update these JSPs in the expanded WAR file though (Yuck!) . . . Re: [Dspace-tech] Turning off SOLR stats
Michael: If you don't have the source, what you could do, in the time being, is go into your tomcat directory tomcat/webapps/jspui/ Then you can modify collection-home.jsp community-home.jsp display-item.jsp I would backup each file first and then go into each JSP and remove lines similar to what I have listed below (which are somewhere near the bottom of each listing): div align=center form method=get action=%= request.getContextPath() %/displaystats input type=hidden name=handle value=%= collection.getHandle() %/ input type=submit name=submit_simple value=fmt:message key=jsp.collection-home.display-statistics/ / /form /div You don't need to restart tomcat. This will take effect immediately, and you can see if this helps. If not, you can simply replace the jsp files back to what they were before with the copies you made. Your Solr server is no longer accessible on localhost for the client to use, I would double-check that your solr search and statistics host:port configurations in the dspace.cfg and/or modules/discovery.cfg are correct for your system. [Dspace-tech] allowSetPassword for LDAP authentication?
I'm noticing in DSpace 1.8.0 XMLUI, Mirage theme that the Reset Password fields are displayed in my profile page after I've authenticated via LDAP. I don't see any configuration to disable that. I thought there used to be configuration for that, but I could be thinking of some other app. I see the allowSetPassword boolean in http://scm.dspace.org/svn/repo/dspace/trunk/dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/authenticate/LDAPAuthentication.java so Can I set allowSetPassword to false for XMLUI in the config, OR should I set or override someplace in the theme to make those fields disappear? Re: [Dspace-tech] How to clear all monthly reports and start from the beginning
Hi Evelthon, If you enable DEBUG logging in DSpace, and then re-run the command, the dspace.log file should show the SQL that is failing. If you could show us that, it might help to work out where the error is. My guess is a bad value in the dspace statistics config file, but the SQL should help. - https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/TechnicalFaq#TechnicalFaq-SettingloggingleveluptoDEBUG Thanks, Stuart Lewis Digital Development Manager Te Tumu Herenga The University of Auckland Library Auckland Mail Centre, Private Bag 92019, Auckland 1142, New Zealand Ph: +64 (0)9 373 7599 x81928 On 29/11/2011, at 1:42 AM, Evelthon Prodromou wrote: Hello again, I am asking once more in case someone missed my last email. [Dspace-tech] Creating new OAI Crosswalks in DSpace 1.7.2
Hi all We have recently upgraded from DSpace 1.4.2 to 1.7.2 and used a modified version of the OAIDCCrosswalk.java file for an OAI feed to Picture Australia. Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace: Internal Server Error
Dear Helix84, Thank you so much for your valuable reply. I agree with you, But one more clarification is that I neither upgrade my postgresql database nor used ant fress_install or ant update command. The problem was that our windows shows the message that “*this is not genuine versions*”. I called system admin people and told them to make it genuine versions. Then he did the some patches to windows. Now I can’t see dspace database, only Postgresql 9.0 database can be seen in the database list. If the database is really empty, I do not have any backup of the dspace collection. So what is the procedure to initiate and integrate the new database with existing dspace. Kindly assist me to solve this problem. Thanks a ton, -- Regards Shivakumara RM http://sites.google.com/site/aigslibrary https://sites.google.com/site/shivakumararm/ This error just means that DSpace cannot connect to the database, it doesn't say that the database is empty.
