[DX-NEWS] FT 1000 MP Mk V
Hi All I realise this is not truely DX related at this stage but I am trying to connect a FT 1000 MP MK V to a TL 922 Linear. The problem I am having is where to connect cables other than the coax. Previously I used a Yaesu FRB - 757 relay box on my old FT 757. Could someone please tell me how to connect the FT1000 MP Mk V to the TL922 and what cables and sockets/jacks to use. I would ultimately like to get the MD 100 Microphone to trigger the ON AIR Led on the TL922. I appreciate your help Regards Ken ZL4HU

Re: [DX-NEWS] [DX-News] CW - Stick or Carrot?
You are RIGHT ON Ward ! Personally, I think Incentive Licensing was a disservice to Amateur Radio. I attained FULL operating privileges at age 12 when I passed my General Class Amateur Radio Exam and I think I turned out OK. One of my (now famous) protege's was handicapped by not (yet) being able to operate in the Extra Class CW Band-segments in spite of the fact that he could copy 40 WPM (or more) at his young age. What purpose was being served by prohibiting this VERY capable CW operator from operating in the Extra Classs Band Segments? I found it VERY interesting that after ARRL created the CW DXCC Award, many of the staunch Phone Only DXers in our club took up the chase on CW. It worked MUCH better than all the harranging about incentive licensing! As far as FD is concerned, I think a 2 to 1 point advantage for CW is enough. If that doesn't create enough incentive, then I don't expect a higher number would have any more impact. Tom N4KG In a message dated 8/18/03 9:49:29 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Well, gents, we can all sit around and harrumph about how everything's going to hell in a handbasket or we can DO something about it. Think. Instead of treating CW as some kind of advanced hazing technique to make sure the freshmen understand that we upperclassmen run the show, why not make it attractive to learn and use CW? Once prospective licensees are not beaten about the head and shoulders with the Morse requirement, it might be that they could take a more positive view of the mode. If someone MADE you demonstrate, say, SSTV capability would you immediately embrace it? Every one of those dolts getting a letter from Riley for HF infractions passed the Morse test, you know. Think. Why not offer award programs for demonstrating Morse proficiency? How about really pushing the Morse proficiency endorsements? Weight the CW QSOs even higher for Field Day - the world's largest ham radio event. Get your state QSO party to double the value of every CW QSO. Publicize QRP organizations and techniques - those guys are incredibly active. Go someplace rare and put it on CW-only. Show others why CW is cool and fun. Think. Let's come up with the kind of exam and licensing structure we think would really act to qualify a licensee. Questions on procedures and real use of equipment. Why not require evidence of 100 on-the-air QSOs to make General? Give the entry-level licensee full frequency privileges, but a limit of 100-watts - don't keep them in ghettos where the upperclassmen never tune. It's not 1959 anymore with hordes of teenagers building 50-watt crystal controlled transmitters - the new hams need to mingle with us old guys. The hobby badly needs Elmers and helping hands extended to newcomers, not a poisonous group of bitter veterans dishing out hostility. Look at it this way - you're going to be a role model, you have no choice about it. You do get to choose what kind of role model you'd like to be, however. As many have noted, with every transmission (and now email) you are advertising. If a new ham or someone thinking about getting into ham radio read your latest post or listened to your last QSO, would it make them a better ham or want to learn CW? 73, Ward N0AX --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

Stu's and Kan's petition has been denied. That is not the case. The petitions are very much alive and are under consideration by ARRL. They are partially based on the addition of the United Nations to the entity list even though this violated DXCC2000. The person who added UNTAET/4W to the list mistakenly thought that ITU had allocated the 4WA-4WZ bloc to UNTAET when in fact it had been allocated to the United Nations. A mistake was made. Many of you dxers treat DXCC as a game, and so it is. RE: [DX-NEWS] East Timor
I asked Bill Moore that very question this week because Timor-Leste has replaced East Timor on the May 2003 DXCC Country List. He said they are one and the same for DXCC, i.e. all bands and modes credited for East Timor count for Timor-Leste. He said it was merely a name change, like Yugoslavia becoming Serbia and Montenegro, which was also new on the latest country list. I guess that means Stu's and Kan's petition has been denied. Re: [DX-NEWS] East Timor
There was one significant item which showed up as the transition from UNTAET to Timor Leste occurred. For a short while (a few months? - I don't remember the dates), Thor 4W6MM was inadvertently operating without a valid UN license. As soon as he found out he went QRT until he got his new government license. I assume any QSOs he made during that period will not be good for DXCC. [DX-NEWS] ARLP031 Propagation de K7RA
SB PROP @ ARL $ARLP031 ARLP031 Propagation de K7RA ZCZC AP31 QST de W1AW Propagation Forecast Bulletin 31 ARLP031 From Tad Cook, K7RA Seattle, WA August 1, 2003 To all radio amateurs SB PROP ARL ARLP031 ARLP031 Propagation de K7RA Strong geomagnetic activity continues. The estimated Planetary A Index is a number derived from observations at geomagnetic observatories around the world. The higher the A index, the higher the geomagnetic activity, and generally this is worse for HF propagation. We like to see low geomagnetic activity with lots of sunspots for great HF propagation. Unfortunately, after the peak of a solar cycle we can experience long periods of active geomagnetic conditions. This week the average daily planetary A index jumped to 21.9 from 16.1 the previous week. Sunspots and solar flux were down quite a bit from the previous week. Average daily sunspot numbers dropped from 195.3 to 74.6, and average daily solar flux went from 147.7 to 106.2. Daily solar flux values are expected to stay around 105-115 from August 1-8, and then rise to around 140 from August 12-18. The planetary A index for Friday through Monday, August 1-4 is expected to be 25, 20, 15 and 10. August 4-6 is expected to be a quiet geomagnetic period, worth a try for reasonable HF propagation. Now that July has passed, we can look at some monthly averages for solar flux and sunspot numbers. Due to some high values around the middle of the month, July actually had higher average daily sunspot numbers than any month since January. The monthly average sunspot numbers, January through July, were 150, 87.9, 119.7, 114.3, 89.6, 118.4 and 132.8. July's average daily solar flux was just a little lower than the June values. Average daily solar flux values for January through July were 144, 124.5, 133.5, 126.8, 116.6, 129.4 and 127.7. The fall equinox is a little over seven weeks away. HF conditions should improve as the days grow shorter and we move from summer to fall propagation. For more information on propagation and an explanation of the numbers used in this bulletin see the Propagation page on the ARRL Web site at http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/propagation.html. Sunspot numbers for July 24 through 30 were 134, 94, 52, 60, 56, 63, and 63, with a mean of 74.6. 10.7 cm flux was 125.2, 111.6, 102.6, 101.7, 103.4, 99.9, and 98.7, with a mean of 106.2. Estimated planetary A indices were 10, 11, 26, 24, 17, 36, and 29, with a mean of 21.9. /EX --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

When u hear a DX station announce his rig type, power, and antenna he is running at the moment, pse be aware that in many places around the globe, it is not advisable to announce one's power output, some radio models, or even antenna typedue to local restrictions/or questions about same (including ERP). With the high bands being what they are, I need a new challenge. Hell will freeze over before the four I need to "finish them all" will be QRV. Am looking at going back to basics with QRP CW. Would appreciate any QRPers contacting me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] with any comments/advice on getting started. I want to build a complete station from kits(i.e. Oak Hills OH100A, digital freq readout, keyer, etc.). Also which band would be best? I plan on a RESONANT single band wireantenna with some gain. Am looking at a half square or bob-tail. Any comments/advice would be appreciated. Will send in my membership to the American QRP Club today. Tnx 73 Russ W4UBC

SB PROP @ ARL $ARLP030 ARLP030 Propagation de K7RA ZCZC AP30 QST de W1AW Propagation Forecast Bulletin 30 ARLP030 From Tad Cook, K7RA Seattle, WA July 25, 2003 To all radio amateurs SB PROP ARL ARLP030 ARLP030 Propagation de K7RA Geomagnetic activity settled down over the past week. The average daily planetary A index dropped by nearly half from the previous week, from 29.1 to 16.1. Average daily sunspot numbers went up from 140 to 195.3 and average daily solar flux rose from 125.6 to 147.7. Solar flux declined from Wednesday to Thursday, July 23 to 24, from 144.1 to 129.2. Predicted solar flux for Friday through Monday, July 25 to 28 is 120, 125, 125 and 130. Planetary A indices for those same days is predicted at 12, 15, 12 and 15, but is expected to rise next week to between 20 and 25. The sunspot count rose last week because of rapid growth of sunspot groups 409 and 410 about a week ago. Sunspot 410 began to decay around July 22. The predicted rise next week in geomagnetic indices is due to a solar wind that earth will enter around July 27. More news of VHF openings is in. Pat Rose, W5OZI said on July 24, from 0046 to 0052z (which was Wednesday night in North America) he worked five Japanese stations on 6-meters. Pat said that in 18 years on 6-meters he has never had E-layer propagation to Japan from his home in Junction, Texas, about 120 miles west of Austin. Pat says the approximate distance to the Japanese stations is over 10,300 km, or 6,400 miles, and believes it took six hops off the ionosphere. Sunspot numbers for July 17 through 23 were 189, 193, 178, 224, 219, 200, and 164, with a mean of 195.3. 10.7 cm flux was 138.7, 139.7, 146, 157.3, 155.6, 152.5, and 144.1, with a mean of 147.7. Estimated planetary A indices were 22, 14, 26, 19, 12, 9, and 11, with a mean of 16.1. /EX --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

Re: [DX-NEWS] Logbook of the World (LOTW) Beta Test Tutorial
Ok, gave this a try --- didn't work. 1. Hawaii is NOT in the list of United States, seems rather odd, so I could fill in neither State nor County. ARRL form would allow nothing except a selection from the list from which Hawaii was not included. 2. I prepared an ADIF file from my Logic 6 log; however, I had no idea how to prepare that I only wanted QSO's from Nov. 6, 1996 to be selected. So I did the entire log which goes back to late 1991. Then I used Notepad to edit the log, which I did by deleting all QSO's from the long, long ADIF file. So first entry in the EXORT.ADI file was: call:59K2GS qso_date:8:d19961217 time_on:6042300 rst_sent:259 rst_rcvd:259 mode:3SSB band:320M dxcc:3:n348 qsl_sent:1Y qsl_rcvd:1Y comment:8DXCCSUB: operator:4KH7M notes:21:mKUWAIT|/ABDUL|KUWAIT| cont:2AS cqz:221 ituz:239 eor The above seems to be one complete ADIF log entry. There was nothing else other than a great long list of the above sort of entries. So, I proceeded to the place where you do the process to sign the log; this is where the process stopped. I was given the message, The data in line 21 is outside the range specified or some such. It went away before I could respond. Next thing I was told was that the program was no longer responding, hi. Any thought on what to do now, start over or 73, Jim KH7M --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

[DX-NEWS] Logbook of the World (LOTW) Beta Test Tutorial
For those that have not yet participated in the ARRL's Logbook of the World (LOTW) beta test, I've written a step-by-step tutorial on how to download the software, install the software, create the certificate request, load the certificate, create a signed log, submit your log and accessing the LOTW website. It's not brain surgery, but it's involved enough that seeing the steps displayed could be of some help. The URL for the tutorial is http://www.aa5au.com/lotw_beta.htm. Getting familiar with the processes now should help once the system goes live. And I don't know when that will happen. For users of DXbase 2003 and 2004, I've also included a page on how to create the necessary file for submission to the beta test using that program. You don't have to have DXbase to generate the necessary log file, any program that can output an ADIF or Cabrillo log file should work. The idea for this tutorial came from discussion on the DXbase reflector. Thanks to Bill, W9OL, who got me started with LOTW. I'm not an expert on LOTW, but the steps shown were good enough to allow me to upload a log file which included well over 50,000 QSO's. If you run into problems, I'll try to help, but I'm still new to the process. Questions may be better answered by the ARRL. Comments are welcome. Please reply directly and not via the reflectors. Thanks. 73 GL, Don AA5AU http://www.aa5au.com http://www.rttycontesting.com --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---
[DX-NEWS] ARLP029 Propagation de K7RA
SB PROP @ ARL $ARLP029 ARLP029 Propagation de K7RA ZCZC AP29 QST de W1AW Propagation Forecast Bulletin 29 ARLP029 From Tad Cook, K7RA Seattle, WA July 18, 2003 To all radio amateurs SB PROP ARL ARLP029 ARLP029 Propagation de K7RA Stormy space weather returned this week. The average daily planetary A index is over twice the value reported in last week's bulletin. The quietest day was July 10, with a planetary A index of 8, and the most active days were July 11, 12 and 16, when the planetary A index was 46, 46 and 48. The planetary A index is expected to quiet down for Friday, July 18, then rise to 15, 20 and 25 for July 19-21. Solar flux is expected to remain around 135 to 145 through the rest of July, with a somewhat higher value possible on July 24. On the morning of Saturday, July 12, earth was inside a strong solar wind coming from a coronal hole on the sun. This was actually Friday night in North America, and the resulting geomagnetic storm produced auroras seen from Canada and the northern United States. Then on July 16 another solar wind, weaker than the earlier one caused a moderate geomagnetic storm, although the planetary A index was marginally higher. The mid-latitude A index though was much lower on July 16 compared to July 11. Bill Hohnstein, K0HA wrote from Mississippi with an exciting story about seeing a July 14 spot at 0002z for his 6-meter signal on a European packet cluster. Milan, OK1FM posted the report which he copied even though he had no 6-meter antenna. He was using a 40-10 meter multiband Yagi. Bill emailed Milan to confirm the spot, and Milan emailed back with details on the antenna. Milan also said a new five element 6-meter Yagi with an 18-foot boom is ready to go up. See a picture of Milan and more about his station at http://www.ok1fm.com/qsl.htm. Serge Stroobandt, ON4BAA sent a link to a nice propagation web site he put together, which among other features includes a MUF mapping program that shows the Maximum Usable Frequency calculated in all directions from any location. See it at http://www.stroobandt.com/propagation/, and you might want to make sure your speakers and sound card are turned on. Regarding recent comments about VHF propagation seemingly enhanced during geomagnetic storms, Jon Jones, N0JK sent this quote from the book, Six Meters, A Guide to the Magic Band, by Ken Neubeck, WB2AMU: Geomagnetic storms appear to be a detrimental factor in the formation of Sporadic-E. It is very rare for a Six Meter operator to hear a strong Sporadic-E opening where there is high geomagnetic activity. For more information on propagation and an explanation of the numbers used in this bulletin see the Propagation page on the ARRL Web site at http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/propagation.html. You can write to the author of this bulletin via email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sunspot numbers for July 10 through 16 were 137, 127, 102, 137, 159, 154, and 164, with a mean of 140. 10.7 cm flux was 122.8, 122, 121.5, 126.5, 127.2, 125.8, and 133.1, with a mean of 125.6. Estimated planetary A indices were 8, 46, 46, 14, 15, 27, and 48, with a mean of 29.1. /EX --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

[DX-NEWS] Sao Tome ~ S9
Via Fox News SAO TOME, São Tomé and Principe - Troops rebelled and detained the prime minister Wednesday in São Tomé and Principe (search), a tiny island nation off western Africa and one of the world's poorest countries, which has been in turmoil since the recent discovery of oil. Shots were heard before dawn, and Prime Minister Maria das Neves (search) was arrested by renegade soldiers, Portuguese state radio Radiodifusao Portuguesa reported. Other senior government officials, including Oil Minister Rafael Branco, were also detained. Sporadic gunshots could still be heard six hours later in the capital São Tomé, though it was not clear whether the shots were from fighting or were fired into the air as a warning. No injuries were reported. The streets of São Tomé and Principe's capital were mostly empty. Public buildings and shops remained closed. In a brief statement read over state radio Radio Nacional de São Tomé, Maj. Fernando Pereira - the head of military training and a participant in the rebellion - ordered all government officials and lawmakers to report to police headquarters. Health Minister Claudina Cruz and Justice Minister Justino Veiga, as well as about 30 lawmakers out of the 55 who sit in Parliament, handed themselves over to the mutineers, a police source said on condition of anonymity. President Fradique de Menezes (search) was out of the country, on a private visit to Nigeria. The rebels have not said why they mutinied, nor was it immediately clear who was leading the rebellion. Soldiers in recent months have complained about low pay and poor living conditions. The country's armed forces number about 600 troops. The Portuguese ambassador in São Tomé, Mario de Jesus Santos, was due to meet the leaders of the revolt later Wednesday to discuss their grievances. Army officers rebelled in 1995, forcing the government to step down and hold new elections. They gave up their attempt to take power after the United States and the European Union threatened to cut off vital aid. The rebellious soldiers took control of the presidential palace, the parliament building and the airport. They also seized the central bank and the state radio and television headquarters in the capital of the former Portuguese colony. The Portuguese ambassador said the city was calm. "We are waiting for some clarification from the leaders [of the revolt] as to what they want," he told Portuguese radio. Das Neves was the country's first woman prime minister, appointed in October. Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano (search), who is also president of the African Union, urged the mutineers to give up their apparent power grab. "We condemn this coup and demand that its perpetrators restore constitutional order," Chissano said, quoted by the Portuguese national news agency Lusa. São Tomé and Principe, off the coast of Gabon, has a population of about 140,000 and is one of the world's poorest countries. But recent discoveries of oil in the waters of the Gulf of Guinea have brought hopes of quick economic advancement. The United States has made diplomatic overtures toward São Tomé and Principe hoping it and other countries bordering the Gulf of Guinea can provide a more stable source of oil than the Persian Gulf. But feuding among rival political parties over the oil wealth has caused political instability in recent years. The turmoil has stalled plans to explore the oil reserves. Since Menezes began his term in September 2001, he has fired four prime ministers and dissolved Parliament once. In January, Menezes revoked a decree that called for early elections and the dissolving of Parliament after striking a deal with lawmakers eager to trim his powers. Offshore development had been planned in conjunction with Nigeria. International tenders for development of the oil reserves were recently opened, though the results are not yet known Norton Antivirus screens inbound and outbound e-mail

[DX-NEWS] ARLB045 7 MHz realignment compromise makes radio history
Follow-ups to dx-chat please! ZCZC AG45 QST de W1AW ARRL Bulletin 45 ARLB045 From ARRL Headquarters Newington CT July 11, 2003 To all radio amateurs SB QST ARL ARLB045 ARLB045 7 MHz realignment compromise makes radio history In an 11th-hour compromise, delegates to World Radiocommunication Conference 2003 (WRC-03) agreed to move broadcasters out of 7100 to 7200 kHz in Regions 1 and 3 to make room for the Amateur Service. The expanded worldwide allocation at 40 meters goes into effect on March 29, 2009. Amateurs in the US and the rest of Region 2 will continue to enjoy the 7000 to 7300 kHz band they now have, but with greatly reduced broadcasting interference. The compromise marked the first time in the history of internationally coordinated radio spectrum allocation that an HF broadcasting band was shifted to accommodate the needs of another service. The compromise cuts in half the incompatibility between amateur and broadcasting use of the 7 MHz band and doubles the 40-meter spectrum available to amateurs in Regions 1 and 3. While the result falls short of the IARU's goal of a 300-kHz worldwide exclusive band for amateurs, the cooperation of broadcasters, opposing delegates and many others was required to make a positive step for ham radio. Spectrum between 4 and 10 MHz is on the agenda for WRC-07, but further changes to 7000-7200 kHz will not be considered. The conference also dropped the international Morse code requirement, leaving individual countries to decide if they want to retain a code proficiency requirement, and adopted a number of improvements to the other international regulations for the amateur service. The delegates also agreed to allowed a secondary allocation for satellite borne synthetic aperture radars at 70 cm and made amateur call sign assignment more flexible. /EX --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net ---

Re: [DX-NEWS] Mount Athos bad(?) news
Hi Bernie I 'll do that for sure but i already know the answer and you can guess this. I simply asked him to be on the air again as i did in past (February activity)and he told me that he can not do it anymore because his radio is burned before 2 months. I didn't asked it for me but for all of you who want a new one and you would like the Mount Athos for dxcc. I have already worked him. The radio is not a priority for him and we all must understand it. He has more important things to do. It is difficult for all of us to understand it but let's try. After the call, I just told the bad news to everyone. I didn't asked a radio and he didn't it of course. The previous radio was donated, as i know, from a JA station. If someone wants to donate a radio to Monk Apollo, i can give him his address and maybe his phone number to call him. I am not authorizied to gather money for a new radio as many of you proposed. A lot of people told the same things. We can give you radio, amplifier, antenna, etc BUT you must let us to operate... But he can not do this. Monk Apollo can not help anyone to operate from Mount Athos. Monk Apollo does not give any license. Only the Holy Council gives the licenses and Monk Apollo is not either a member in Holy Council If you mean to operate with his call you must know this. The last time who someone was operated from his shack was a DL man as i know. The Holy Council learned it and told to Monk Apollo that is illegal and not to do it again because they will get his license back. So neither this can be done. Bernie i must thank you for all your tries to give some dx to all of us. I have worked you like ah3d for a new one and thank you. I am a subsciber to daily dx for the last 3 years as you know and you help me very much to have 305 dxcc entities today. But as i explain you in past again is very difficult for someone to get a license and operate form Mount Athos today. I don't like it also. As you know, Mount Athos belongs to Greece and i don't like that there is a place in my country that i can not go to operate. But i am trying to understand that there are some reasons for this and i must respect it. By the way the ultimate dx for all Europeans it seems to be 4U1UN. A rare dxcc entity in middle of New York. I worked this but i know many hams in Greece that need this. Can you help us for this? The following was announced on the ARRL Web site this past week: Radio History is Made at WRC-03 with 7-MHz Realignment Compromise (July 3, 2003) -- There's good news from World Radiocommunication Conference 2003 (WRC-03) for 40-meter enthusiasts. In an 11th-hour compromise, delegates to WRC-03, which wraps up officially July 4, agreed to move broadcasters out of 7100 to 7200 kHz in Regions 1 and 3 to make room for the Amateur Service. The agreement eventually will mean a 200-kHz worldwide allocation at 40 meters. Although the change does not go into effect until 2009, that's considered speedy in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) terms. Some of the timelines proposed during discussions on the 7 MHz agenda item would have held off the changes until 2033! The WRC-03 action on 7 MHz makes no change in the exclusive US 40-meter allocation. US amateurs will continue to enjoy the full 7000 to 7300 kHz band they now have. 60 METERS IS UP AND ACTIVE! Martin, W9XN/8, reports that the 1st Continental U.S. QSO on 60 meters took place at on 5403.5 kHz at 0400z, on July 3rd. QSO was between W9XN/8 (Martin) in Westover, W.V. and N0FW (Pete) in Cincinnati (Hamilton), OH. RS reports were 59 both ways. Martin states that he used a TS-430S and 60 Meter Tri-Pole. 7P, LESOTHO (Update to OPDX.612).
