[Dx4win] Saving the log

2014-12-04 Thread Mike Parnin via DX4WIN
I have version 8.05. I cannot find callsign.dxl anywhere on my computer. I
have done a search for it and its not there.
I learned to use a thumb drive in the Secondary Backup Directory feature in
DX4WIN preferences. My question is I have noticed that my  .adi and .dxl file
is saved in my Secondary Backup but not my DX4WIN program. If I look in
c:/DX4W805/save I see the Sample log but not my N4EPD log and no n4epd.dxl
or n4epd.~xl file. If I look in my Secondary Backup Directory  it is there. Why
is it not being saved in DX4805/ save ?

Thanks,
Mike,  N4EPD

Ray, guess I don't understand your connection process. I am running version
8.05 and here's how I do it.
1. Start program2. Right click mouse in packet window and drop down of nodes
appears.3. Top node ( VE7CC ) is last one used so I press enter.4. Type in call
sign and am connected

While I agree that I'd like to have an easier way to connect (and would
like to have it connect automatically, if so desired), what I do now is
I use Autohotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) to automate starting
DX4WIN. It starts it, connects the packet cluster, and even runs some
additional programs that I have running when I'm operating. Although you
can do some very sophisticated things with AHK, starting a program and
other basic things are quite simple.

The DX4WIN connection drops at random times, anywhere from 3 - 12 hours,

 dropping.

What I don't like about the DX4WIN connection process, it takes up to 6 - 8
mouse and keyboard strokes to complete it. Maybe Paul can improve the process
to 2 - 3 strokes in the future?

Yes Duane, actually I have and get the same issue. That is why I am thinking
it is not a DX4WIN issue or maybe not an AR Cluster issue. Was hoping
someone might have experienced this before I run into the woods on my own so
 to speak.

[Dx4win] Bad .ini file ???

2016-08-20 Thread Mike Parnin via DX4WIN
Just started up my DX4WIN program ver. 8.05 and the only screens that came up
were my QSO screen and the calendar. The font size is extremely large and not
arial. Under preferences/ personal my user level was changed from expert to
regular. I changed it back to expert. All the name and address data  was blank.
The grid data was filled in but all info was wrong. I cannot change info in any
of the other setup parameter fields. It appears as if the .ini file is
corrupted. I save my data to a thumb drive but opening up that callsign file
does not change anything.  Can I import an old .ini file from another computer
with this program to correct this? Any help on how to correct this problem is
appreciated. If it's not the .ini file I'm open to suggestions.

[Dx4win] Query

2017-05-09 Thread Mike Parnin via DX4WIN
In regards to LOTW and DX4WIN 8.05 I have what may seem as a easy reply to this
problem.I have a LOTW account and have DXCC. I upload and download my log to
LOTW with no problem. My numeric values in LOTW and Dx4WIN match exactly. My
question is when I download my DXCC info from LOTW, the "C" values in the DXCC
Listing report don't change from "C" Confirmed to * for Checked. Yes, I have
transferred in LOTW those Confirmed to Checked and the "numeric" values for
DXCC and the ones in DX4WIN Summary match. Why are Confirmed values in DX4WIN
not changing to * ?  Do I have a setting wrong or is this a manual setting ?

Hello Dean,

Are you talking about the DXCC report?  In this matrix the symbols are:
C = confirmed (but not submitted for credit, or credited by the League)
S= submitted for credit (but not yet credited)
*= confirmed, submitted, and credited to your DXCC account.

So - what you see is not unusual.  There is a handy way to align your DX4WIN
log with your ARRL DXCC account, if you have a DXCC award and an LoTW
account.  Use Jim's utility program "Compare LoTW to DX4WIN".  Info is here:

Mike, thanks for the suggestion. I did do the DX4WIN report suggestion and it

Hello Mike,

You may need to do that manually.  If you make a submission through DX4WIN,
you can change all of the submitted QSOs to Checked.  Look under Reports –
Award Flags – Action.  Try this – AFTER making a backup copy of your log and
putting it safely away.  Do a submission (Reports – Report/Action –
Submission) for the award(s) of interest.  Then do Reports – Award Flags –
Action – Submitted -> Checked for the same award(s).  If that doesn’t work,
maybe someone else will have an idea, or you may need to do it manually.

[Dx4win] DX Spots and Packet Windows

2018-06-27 Thread Mike Parnin via DX4WIN
I 'm running version 9.04 and all of a sudden my "DX Spots DXCC sorted by
Arrival" and "Packet window" are only updating approximately every 5 to 10
minutes. I have tried various cluster nodes with the same problem. My internet
connection and speed is fine. In the Packet window if I do a SH/DX  the " DX
Spots" and Packet windows are updated to more current times. Changing my sort
from Arrival to Time does not change the problem. The time in my QSO window
does keep current time. I have also noticed that I am missing a lot of spots
compared to spots outside of the DX4WIN program using other programs which are
updating more frequently. I have never used the filter option. My clusters of
preference are K1TTT and VE7CC. Please note that this problem just occurred and
was working perfectly for months. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks Vic, it adds the callsign info but not the callsign. I would like to
also see the callsign.

[Dx4win] DXCC Color Codes

2021-07-11 Thread Mike Parnin via DX4WIN
Sorry, but I'm confused on the DXCC packet window color codes. I have my DX
spots window configured to DXCC spots by arrival. I am using the default DXCC
color codes. I get a lot of white on red spots, but I have confirmed working
that country/mode and it is confirmed for that country/mode. In preferences I
have " worked cutoff " and " mailed cutoff " to 0 thinking all spots would
forever be recognized and accepted. Why do confirmed contacts/mode for that
band show up as white on red for DXCC ? Could I possibly have something wrong
in the award setup for DXCC ? Also, I never see white on green or green on
white in the DX spots window.

TNX Jim.  They are, that's what confuses me ! Could it be something that when
I download the LOTW file it does not confirm in the program ?

Mike, go to File | Awards, then click the DXCC tab.  In the
"Confirmation" section, make sure that both "QSL card" and "LoTW" are
checked.

You  know I did not ! That's probably it. If I capture a new LOTW download and
confirm using that menu option will it correct all past confirmed QSO's ?

confirmed."
It seems that the answer was no!  I suggest that you go into LOTW and use the
Download Report to produce an ADIF file with all your LOTW matches.  In the
'QSLs Received Since' box, put the date of your earliest QSO.  Save the ADIF
file somewhere safe.
Then in DX4WIN, use the LOTW menu to 'Confirm LOTW using ADIF file' option.
Find the file that you have just downloaded from LOTW and DX4Win will do the
matching.

Just a note of thanks to Ian, G4IIY and Jim, AD1C for their suggestions on how
to solve my DX4WIN problem that I have previously posted. It was my lack of
properly setting up DX4WIN menu options and QSO inputs.
