Yes, of course as Gus said the Bencher BY-1 is far different - single pivot,
spring tensioning, no adjustment. (Set spring tensioning, no adjustments to
make other than desired contact spacing)
It is completely different system compare to Hex key. It is not possible to
mix up them...

Other than having two paddles for iambic keying, these keys are quite 
different. The BY-1 is fragile and finicky; the Hex key is solid and 
easily adjusted. I've had both and much prefer the Hex key. However, 
both have been replaced by a Scheunemann M-Dirigent (was Schurr Profi).

I had a HexKey from Elecraft for quite awhile.  It was basically the 
Bencher BY-1 paddle mechanism on a hexagonal base that was somewhat 
heavier [and more stable] than the BY-1 base.  Dave, W8FGU, made me a cover.


A deficiency in both the BY-1 and HexKey was the contact adjustment 
screws.  The threads are fairly coarse and adjustment was very touchy 
and not readily repeatable.


Old injuries and resultant arthritis in my hands was making the HexKey 
hard to use and I now use an N3ZN single-lever which has really helped.  
Additionally, the adjustment screws are 52 TPI and very easy to get 
right.  The ZN-SL is also on a much heavier base and never moves.  Dave 
made a cover for it too.

Hexagonal base. The shape of the base confuses mistakes so most do not make
it to the paddles thereby improving sending. It's certainly worth the >$300
to trap errors, isn't it?

Vibroplex/Bencher now sell il for 324 $, I think this is adeguate value for
this first class iambic paddle.
I own a great N2DAN paddle, so I think to know the quality of your paddle.

Select "Completed listings" on the left of the ebay page and you can see
what past items sold (or did not sell) for. Two recently sold for about
$200. That is the real value I would use as a reference.

Ebay has transitioned to a lot of "Buy It Now" and "Best Offer" items
instead of auctions. Many are "new" knockoffs. I have found that the "Best
Offer" items can go for 20% or more below the asking price. The completed
listings won't tell what the selling price of those items were,
unfortunately. Ebay also has quite high fees when you include Ebay and
Paypal fees, but you do get some protections not found in private sales.

There are overpriced things on eBay posted all the time by people trying to
flip them just to make money.
I shake my head many times over the prices I sometimes see things listed
for.
If your going that route just list it as an auction starting relatively low
and let the market set the price.

website, or joined their e-mail list on QTH.net?

Frankly, run-of-the-mill garden-variety Elecraft hex keys seldom bring more
than a C-note, even when accompanied with the original Elecraft sales
receipts, owner's manuals, and authenticating certificates.  It's common
knowledge in the Elecraft hex key collector community that only low
serial-numbered hex keys with the winged Elecraft emblem bring top dollar or
trade.  If you are the lucky owner of one of those extremely-rare and
highly-desired beauties, announce details on the list I noted above or on
the "Classifieds" page of the EHKCA website.  You may be able to arrange
even trade for a new K3s/KPA1500/P3 combo!
