Mr Anil Kamat, a bachelor, r/o Bamado , Chinchinim, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Delhi , on 4.June 2024 at the age of 70 years It is to his personal credit that he has held a position of responsibility and honour in AIFF and is the First and only sportsperson from Chinchinim Village to hold the exhalted post that makes us all and sports enthusiasts feel proud and honoured .In his early days he was on MMHS soccer team and completed SSC .He Associated with CRCC and Salcete FC.His initiative helped register Union of Chinchinim Villagers F.C .He served as EC member and joint secretary , GFA. It was Mr Alberto Collaco his mentor , who spotted his talents and groomed him to shoulder responsibility far beyond his own expectations and humble background of formal education or specific sports qualifications to climb the ladder of success in the organisation .Anil as the senior official at AIFF, loved, respected ,served for uninterrupted 25 years , as Asstt.General Secretary and Director of Competitions.He was recognised as an authority of competition and match operation with his landmark contributions . Human approach most welcomed It is most gratifying experience to make the life of others happy by being magnanimous in our attitudes , behaviour and actions. It is a gesture of selflessness towards the other being .First it is a personal sacrifice A NEWLY wedded couple was in for a big surprise .Within months of happy, love marriage the husband was diagnosed with terminal stage of cancer and passed away within a year.The wife was heart broken , shattered and desperate .The sweet mother - in - law , inspite of her sorrow stood by her ,comforted her and convinced her of life ahead without being lonely .She motivated her to begin her life afresh .It was on one such occasion her husband good friend proposed to her.She was shocked and taken a back and refused politely .She confided with her mother in law, Who encouraged her to think very seriously ,forgetting her sentimental feelings about her own son .The decision was not very easy but both the families supported her to take the opportunity of a new beginning . Fortunately she had no biological issue and encumbrances .The society may not be very receptive to these actions, but finally it is their own life and they have the right to make their choice . They were married the mother in law giving her away at the church ceremony. It was a tearful, happy occasion for all In another similar example the newly married couple had grandiose plans for their future .Unfortunately within six months the husband passed away in an accident .The grief stricken mother in law was very supportive of her entering into a new life, as she had long years ahead. The daughter in law did not appreciate her idea and wrongly presumed that she wanted to get rid of her . After a year and constant prodding by mother in law she finally changed her mind and decided to share the rest of her life with her husband friend, who was most willing to be her life partner. Initially there was fierce opposition from girls family, but mother in law stood like a rock for her and persuaded her to go ahead, which she finally did .Both the husbands were bachelor .As of today they are a fine adjusting couple living happily together with their families They maintain friendly and cordial relations with their mother in laws, who made a difference to them THE third example the husband expired living a young bride and a child. The girls parents were a strong force of motivation but the mother in law was reluctant and un supporting . The selfish reason being her own security, disguised as concern for the child and family inheritance . The husband was also a bachelor . In all the 3 examples they have children of their own and are living a harmonious life without any stigma or caring for social disapproval How wonderful that the society is changing it's hard attitudes and there is a new horizon of appreciation ,accommodation, acceptance of reality .The maximum support must come from both the parents without being selfish about own security, wealth and inheritance issues . These examples are really inspirational agaisnt aged old traditions and customs which offer a new ray of hope and promise in the lives of unfortunate widows. Non serving of Non veg meals SQ.422 SINGAPORE TO MUMBAI 21 MAY 2024 SEAT NOS 51 K, 51 K Nelson Natividade Paul Lopes(51K.) Leena Lopes (51J) Twice informed that our preference was for Non veg.Inspite of it Leena was served veg.It was refused.on enquiry informed about non avaiability and no request indebted for Nelson as per his phone records . AGREED that tickets include meals .Leena aged 79 years served veg .and was asked to serve at least non veg. But she was forced to manage with a bowl of fruits from tray for whole journey. I was denied and am 81 years .The flight in charge of service took 2 hrs from 10.15a.m to 12.50 and citing air turbulence. HE remained indifferent ,arrogant , silent and did not answer why non veg meals were not served inspite of ticket including it as was on forward journey Is this the approach of staff in charge even when I volunteered to pay.? Is this the treatment to be meted out to senior citizens ?. It was a disaster chosing Singapore airlines for an experience It ruined our most memorable Trip ,never to opt for Singapore Airlines . The kiosk for tags non functional got one out of 3 and self loading only one bag loaded trying 3 machines .Finally the other 2 bags were checked in at the counter .EFFICIENCY at Singapore Departure terminal was lacking and unbelievable for the reputation of premier airline. He obtained a License at Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and a Doctoral in Biblical Theology at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, in Pune. After his priestly ordination, Rev. Simião Purificação Fernandes was Assistant of Aldona (1993-1996); Assistant Parish Priest in Taleigao (1996-1998); in charge of pastoral care at Parish of Sao Pedro (1996-1997); Parish Administrator of Parish of Holy Family, Marcela (2006-2013); External Professor of Scared Scripture in Patriarchal Seminary, Rachol (2005-2018); in charge of the Apostolate for Ecumenism (2006-2018). Father of the opinion poll laid the foundation of State of Goa & Konkanni He was born as Joao Hugo Eduardo Sequeira alias Jack De Sequeira ,JAK SIKER in Burma on 20.4.1915 to Erasmo (Doctor) & Mrs Ana Julia de Sa .Married at the age of 23 .After Lyceum he joined Goa Medical College and qualified as Doctor at 21years ,winning gold medal in Microbiology.Death of his father when he was 21 made him to abandoned his passion for continuation of Medicine.He had to take over the reigns of prosperous business "Agencia E Sequeira"dealing in Bharat Petroleum pumps,Wimco and other fast moving products. He was first elected from Panjim and 3 times from Santa Cruz. Since he lost at the 4th attempt, he gracefully quit politics in 1979 in humility. Instrumental in forming UGP ,merging Goencho Paksh,Partido Indiano ,Democratic Party ,United Front,& Goan National Union .Elected as the First President of UGP and leader of opposition.He was a gifted ,charismatic leader,orator delivering studied discourses. Labelled as principled, honest ,generous,⁰ , intellectual ,distinguished politician hungering for transparent ,non corrupt administration .The lingua franca at home undoubtedly was Konkanni .In 1963 UGP won 12 seats and MGP with 14 seats formed the Govt with support..He thwarted the hurried move of MGP for merger by vote in the Assembly.Delegations were led to P. M.Nheru wanting a cooling period of 10/ 15 yeras, then Lal Bahadur Shastri and finally to Mrs Ghandi , who sanctioned mother of all referendum, first time in Independent India ,instrument of direct democracy by people of Goa, assuring outcome to be accepted compulsorily by Govt of India .Date fixed on 16Jan 1967 by secret ballot after dissolving the Assembly. She was an unassuming, simple, humble sister but firm and determined.She was the founder who established the foothold for Sisters of Mary of Angels at Chinchinim.Started in a rented premises to conduct Primary section and residence too.It was a monumental ,uphil task to construct the school and raise it to the high school level. Fr.Presentacao their mentor wanted them to care for retired priests., which assurance was observed in breach .He arranged for the donation of the plot.She fought legal battles to secure her right to access. The residence for nuns was provided too within the premises. It is one of finest institution for girls in Chinchinim, equally serving the surrounding Villages.Sr Etienne was the architect of vision for St. Mary of Angels Convent.and nursed it proudly to its present status of fame and popularity. She was then assigned another task to convert Assumpta into High School for first generation of underprivileged learners, reduce 2km track and once again to raise the necessary infrastructure for the school She did her best and achieved one more onerous task, when she should have been resting from toils at Chinchinim. After retirement she had short stint in France as she was A French teacher. She also managed Religious Sote of Archdiocese of Goa at Margao . He was born as Joao Hugo Eduardo Sequeira alias Jack De Sequeira ,JAK SIKER in Burma on 20.4.1915 to Erasmo (Doctor) & Mrs Ana Julia de Sa married at the age of 23 .After Lyceum he joined Goa Medical College and qualified as Doctor at 21years winning gold medal in Microbiology.Death of his father when he was 21 made him to abandoned his passion for continuation of Medicine.He had to take over the reigns of prosperous business "Agencia E Sequeira"dealing in Bharat Petroleum pumps,Wimco and other fast moving products. He was first elected from Panjim and 3 times from Santa Cruz. Since he lost at the 4th attempt, he gracefully quit politics in 1979 in humility. Instrumental in forming UGP ,merging Goencho Paksh,Partido Indiano ,Democratic Party ,United Front,& Goan National Union .Elected as the President of UGP was the first leader of opposition.He was a gifted ,charismatic leader,orator delivering studied discourses. Labelled as principled, honest ,generous,⁰ , intellectual ,distinguished politician hungering for transparent ,non corrupt administration .The lingua franca at home undoubtedly was Konkanni .In 1963 UGP won 12 seats and MGP with 14 seats formed the Govt with support..He thwarted the hurried move of MGP for merger by vote in the Assembly.Delegations were led to P. M.Nheru wanting a cooling period of 10/ 15 yeras, then Lal Bahadur Shastri and finally to Mrs Ghandi , who sanctioned mother of all referendum, first time in Independent India ,instrument of direct democracy by people of Goa, assuring outcome to be accepted compulsorily by Govt of India .Date fixed on 16Jan 1967 by secret ballot after dissolving the Assembly. He was assisted by various leaders, Advocates ,Poets, Indudtrialists, Tiatrists, social workers,journalists followers of all religions working tirelessly to maintain unique identity of Goa..Salcette sealed the fate of two laves by a convincing margin of 54.2% of votes confirming thereby that Goa is not backyard of Maharashtra..He thus earned the sobriquet.
