Re: [Hardhats-members] VOEScanning Source Code

2008-12-22 Thread Nancy Anthracite
The source code for the proprietary component, in the past, cost about $200
and any work done with it could be redistributed as a binary with no fees.

Hopefully the guys from VOES will jump in here and discuss the remainder of
the source code, which I believe is licensed under LGPL for at least the part
done for the VOE project and maybe all of it. I can't find a copy of the
source code. I am not sure I ever had it.

Re: [Hardhats-members] CPRS-Delphi Compilation error word97.dcu

2008-12-19 Thread Nancy Anthracite
The system you were working on that I host has the file, Kevin, so that may be
why you didn't have the error.

On Friday 19 December 2008, Kevin Toppenberg wrote:
I have not encountered this error. It sounds to me like there is
something in that module that tries to access Word as an ActiveX

see what needed that in the rest of the module.

In My Delphi, there were some automatic components added to access
microsoft office. Did you get an option to do this when you installed
Delphi? What version of Delphi do you have?

Re: [Hardhats-members] Compiled version of CPRS and Delphi

2008-12-08 Thread Nancy Anthracite
I think you are going to have to hit the Internet to find a copy of Delphi 7
Pro or above and be sure you can get the license with it or transfer the one
you get from the current license holder.

I am not sure what you are asking for with the Compiled Version of CPRS.
Could you expand on that.

Re: [Hardhats-members] Problem building CPRS in Delphi

2008-11-27 Thread Nancy Anthracite
You are likely to find many other files missing. Just make a list and send it
to me as I probably have copies on our development server.

You will have other issues as well as this is not a smooth transition from
Delphi 7 to Delphi 2006 or 2007 which is why we have not done it. If you can
get your hands of a copy of Delphi 6 or 7 Pro, life will be a lot easier
until CPRS 1.0.27.* comes out. I suspect the release of that CPRS may be
delayed while they work out the bugs that are giving them problems with it.

[Hardhats-members] New CPRS Version Soon

2008-03-25 Thread Nancy Anthracite
Well, I hear CPRS Version 27 is to be heading out the door soon, which means
soon our CPRS team will need to crack open Delphi 2006 to get the WV CPRS

Hold on to your hats! I think the big winds won't be in March. Maybe April

[Hardhats-members] PowerPoint files from VEHU

2007-10-04 Thread Nancy Anthracite
I just recieved this information from Becky Monroe at the VA and I have edited
it slightly to fit the external web site.

**

Just a reminder - all the PowerPoint files from classes at the  VHA
eHealth University conference are available on the VEHU website at

  http://www.vehu.va.gov/

The web page is being redesigned, and there are hopes the navigation witll be
easier, but in the meantime, here are some instructions so you
can find them now!

1.        go to: http://www.vehu.va.gov/

2.        click on class catalog and find the class you'd like to view.
(This class catalog contains our entire list of classes from past VeHU's
- but the 2007 classes are listed first.

3.        Click on the link for the class - and you will see the class
information page for that class.  This page contains the PowerPoint
files, links to any supporting materials, and will also contain the link
to the web-based training when it is completed.   (Hopefully we'll begin
posting web-based training by next month!)

Alternatively - and this will be faster if you're looking for a specific
subject or class number:

1.      go to: http://www.vehu.va.gov/
2.      scroll down to the search tool.  Type the class number or
subject you'd like to look for in the keyword text box.   You can also
select a specific track if you are only listed in classes for a specific
target audience.
3.      The results of the search will be shown - and you can click on
the link for each class to get to the class information page for that
class.   This page contains the PowerPoint files, links to any
supporting materials, and will also contain the link to the web-based
training when it is completed.   (Hopefully we'll begin posting
web-based training by next month!)

For those of you new to VistA, VEHU is a truly awe inspiring conference for

I can get help from others that work at the VA to register folks, but since I

my neck out to help you (so far anyway), you should get on your horse, look
at the HTML page I have posted here and pick your sessions. If the sessions

So if you want me to register you, YOU NEED TO LET ME KNOW BY 5PM EST FRIDAY
AUGUST 17. I am going to be at VEHU, so I can't help you after that. I will
not have access to the VA Network.

It would be nice if we can get organized to record the audio and video for
some of these sessions. Some will eventually end up on the web, but it takes
months because they have to have transcripts to be 508 compliant if they go
on the government web site.

So, if we can get organized and get enough people with audio and maybe video
recording capability on these calls, we can get them posted sooner for
everyone's benefit., VA and Non-VA.

I have use the commercial program SnagIt to record sessions in the past. I
am not sure if there is something open source. As I recall, SnagIt does not
do Audio, so you will need a separate voice recorder if you got that route.

Here is the announcement is about these sessions:

VeHU is next week.  Are you one of the individuals that didn't get
approval to attend? You don't have to miss out completely.  Attend
Virtual VeHU!  Virtual VeHU is list of class offerings that are
broadcast with a distance learning tool called Live Meeting.  You can
sign up to take the class even if you are not approved for travel.  Some
classes are not conducive to distance learning like panel discussions
and hands-on classes.  However, there is still a long list of Live
Meeting classes in every curriculum.  Seats are limited so we ask that
you encourage everyone to schedule a conference room and share a
reservation by using only one dial in number.   Don't wait until all the
seats are taken.  Sign up today by using the following link to enroll in
your favorite sessions.

Here is a link to the COPY of the page from the VA internal network with the
sessions listed. The link for registering will not work, of course, but the
links to the live meeting sessions do work. I need FIRST NAME , LAST NAME,
PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL, and the NUMBER OF THE SESSION to sign you up.

This will only work for those calling from within the United States.

http://download.opensourcevista.net/downloads/Live Meeting Registration.htm

BTW, I had permission to snag this page and post it. I will dig around to
see if I can get the latest catalog of sessions. There is an older listing
here that we received long ago so things may have changed:

http://download.opensourcevista.net/downloads/Draft%20VeHU%20Catalog%200617.

Remember, I need FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL and SESSION

Any volunteers out there to organize things for recording these sessions? I
can't take the time to do it, so we need one or more volunteers if it is
going to happen.

[Hardhats-members] VEHU - PAY ATTENTION to this and DON'T DELAY!

2007-08-13 Thread Nancy Anthracite
First, a BIG THANK YOU to the VA for this!

Once more we have been blessed with an invitation to attend the LiveMeeting
sessions from VEHU, The VHA eHealth University, but you have to plan ahead
because you can pick what you want to attend but you have to be registered
ahead of time.

For those of you new to VistA, VEHU is a truly awe inspiring conference for VA
folks all devoted to training and providing information about VistA and
related technologies.

The only place to REGISTER is on the VA INTERNAL NETWORK, which means that
you will have to let me know what you want to listen to and I will have to
register you on the VA internal network.

I can get help from others that work at the VA to register folks, but since I
can can access the network when I am at work and I am the only one sticking
my neck out to help you (so far anyway), you should get on your horse, look
at the HTML page I have posted here and pick your sessions. If the sessions
are not oversubscribed by VA folks, you will be able to attend by
LiveMeeting.

I am
not sure if there is something open source. As I recall, SnagIt does not do
Audio, so you will need a separate voice recorder if you got that route.

I will dig around to see
if I can get the latest catalog of sessions. There is an older listing here
that we received long ago so things may have changed:

http://download.opensourcevista.net/downloads/Draft%20VeHU%20Catalog%200617.html

Remember, I need FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL and SESSION
NUMBER to sign you up.

Any volunteers out there to organize things for recording these sessions? I
can't take the time to do it, so we need one or more volunteers if it is
going to happen.

I guess I should ask now, before I waste time looking, can you aim me at the
proper outpatient menu?

Don't use FileMan to change the entries in this file use the option in the
Outpatient menus.

For the setting of the AutoFinish specific fields you can you FileMan.

You need to have the Outpatient site parameters as defined in the user's
guide, if not AF will have issues, the parameters are used to guide the med
order through a specific path in the code.

For GT.M you need to setup the print device as we defined in the old HUI
manual for AF.

Maybe that is what I am supposed to put for LOGICAL LINK? It says that an
institution can be entered, but when I enter VOE OFFICE INSTITUTION, it
isn't
happy, nor is it happy with DR OFFICE. or Outpatient System Parameters.
Maybe it is because I don't have Outpatient Pharmacy setup? I am supposed

do that, but haven't done anything specificallyto do that except follow the
instructions.

Here's some help on the mystery fields:

In the instructions, the following sure does need some context!!

Outpatient System Parameters

DEFAULT OUTPATIENT SITE: DR OFFICE//

ADMISSION CANCEL OF RXS: NO//

Select EXEMPT WARD FROM AUTOCANCEL:

DAYS PRINTED RX STAYS IN 52.5:

POLYPHARMACY W/ACTION PROFILE:

I finally found it in the PHARMACY SYSTEM file 59.7

It looks like the following shows up in PSODIV using the PSO INTERDIV
option. But it does not ask any of those questions if you're only one site
and not multi-divisional!!

Currently 'INTERDIVISIONAL' processing 'is not' allowed.

Do you want to change this? : N// YES

'INTERDIVISIONAL PROCESSING' is initialized.

This question involves the following prompt:

'RX is from another division. Continue? (Y/N)'

Do you want this prompt to appear

whenever an action is attempted on the prescription: N// O

Do you want all refill request forms to be processed

at a particular division?: N// O

Initialization of 'INTERDIVISIONAL PROCESSING' is complete.

As we may or may not know Eclipse is an open source project aimed at
java development. Plug-ins are extensions of the base environment,
they allow us to encapsulate, or wrap, at run time, a systems of tools

desire is to make socket-based connections to a VistA system.
Further, the plug-in would most likely provide the foundations for RPC
Broker-based communication. This is a primative explanation at best.

In a nutshell, VistaLink is a version of the RPC Broker for Java.

Senate directs DOD to use VA EHR architecture
Bob Brewin, Govt. Health IT
July 26, 2006
http://govhealthit.com/article95423-07-26-06-Web

The Senate directed the Defense Department to adopt the Department of
Veterans Affairs’ electronic health record (EHR) architecture in its version
of the VA 2007 Appropriations bill approved by the Senate Appropriations
Committee’s Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on July
 21.

In its version of the 2007 VA appropriations bill, passed last month, the
House Appropriations Committee’s Military Quality of Life and Veterans
Affairs Subcommittee used similar language, directing DOD and the VA to adopt
identical software, data standards and data repositories for their EHR
systems.

Both bills now go to a conference between the two branches of Congress, and
if the intent of the language in both makes it through that process, DOD and
the VA would end up using the same EHR to serve a population of 9.2 million
active-duty and retired personnel in the Military Health System (MHS) and
roughly 5 million veterans who use VA health care facilities

Snip of instructions**

Adjust system files to new domain

From the GTM prompt repoint the KERNEL SYSTEM PARAMETERS and RPC BROKER

PARAMETERS files to the new domain, go back to the GTM prompt and enter 'S
$P(^XTV(8989.3,1,0),^)=3' and 'S $P(^XWB(8994.1,1,0),^)=3' where 3 is
the internal number of the new domain we just created in the previous step.
The domain instance of 22 is used below. I have NO idea what this command
mean. I only know that it resets the kernel parameters and RPC broker
parameters to my domain defined above.
GTMS $P(^XTV(8989.3,1,0),^)=22

GTMS $P(^XWB(8994.1,1,0),^)=22
GTM

Then from the GTM prompt again start FileMan with D Q^DI. At Select
OPTION: enter 6 (UTILITY FUNCTIONS) then select RE-INDEX FILE. At MODIFY
WHAT FILE, enter KERNEL SYSTEM PARAMETERS. Then do the same for the RPC
BROKER PARAMETERS file. See example below for the rest of the dialogue.
GTMD Q^DI

VA FileMan 22.0

Select OPTION: UTILITY FUNCTIONS

Select UTILITY OPTION: RE-INDEX FILE

MODIFY WHAT FILE: KERNEL SYSTEM PARAMETERS//

Instead of the above I get:
MODIFY WHAT FILE: DOMAIN//

THERE ARE 13 INDICES WITHIN THIS FILE
DO YOU WISH TO RE-CROSS-REFERENCE ONE PARTICULAR INDEX? No// NO (No)
OK, ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO KILL OFF THE EXISTING 13 INDICES? No// YES
(Yes)
DO YOU THEN WANT TO 'RE-CROSS-REFERENCE'? Yes// (Yes)
...SORRY, LET ME THINK ABOUT THAT A MOMENT...
FILE WILL NOW BE 'RE-CROSS-REFERENCED'

has not been another release yet, but I guess this is as good an excuse as
any for me to try to get another. I sent an email and did not get an answer,
so I will try again. There is a file listing the proprietary componenets

The main GUI is CPRSChart, a thick client for clinicians run on a Windows
machine. You have to start Taskman and the RPC Broker and set up a user in
the roll and scroll to utilize the GUI. A Physician user needs a few things
set up in file 200 - The Keys PROVIDER and ORES, the CPRS TAB, COR, the
secondary menu OR CPRS GUI CHART, the RESTRICT PATIENT SELECTION set to NO,
set the ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE CODE, DISUSER to NO, AUTHORIZED TO WRITE MED
ORDERS set to yes and an ACCESS CODE.

Have you encountered the VERFY CODE prompt before? Remember that ^XUP is a
programmer utility that isn't meant to be used as a normal method of
signing in to VistA. When users do sign in, they will be asked for both
access and verify codes (they are different). the idea is that when you
create a new account, you can assign an access code and provide it to the
user (e.g., in a sealed envelope), but you do not create a verify code, but
just leave it blank. When the user signs in the first time, they only need
hit enter at the VERIFY CODE prompt, but they will then be immediately
prompted for a new one. That way, if someone should learn what access code
you provided, that knowledge will not be enough to allow them to sign in.
To sign in, it is necessary to know BOTH the access and verify codes. You
can think of it as a two part password, one part assigned by the user, and
the other by the system administrator. One problem with this scheme is that
since the access code is also used to identify who is logging in (as a kind
of login name and password combined), it cannot be aged but remains fixed.
Users should be required to changed their verify codes periodically (say
every 90 days) using the standard aging mechanism. But a brute force attack
would involve entering both access and verify codes and, as you see, the
system doesn't tell you which is wrong. That makes it difficult to obtain
the access code without also knowing the verify code.

Thanks for the detailed answer, that cleared it up.
Is there a way to access the system using GUI ?
Also, do I need to setup taskman or other components for GUI requests ?

Thanks for all the help,

You can make a 256KB pieces for however many parts there are. The
process to create a tracker is simple and I'll donate upload slots once
I can download it myself (as is the goal for BitTorrent).

Anybody else?

Maybe we can have a three or more part torrent. Between Alberto,
another
person who has written to me and offered, and my server as a server and
client, and any others who want to join, that should work pretty well.
Raymond said he would set it up early next month barring any
complications.

Alternatively, if folks just plain want to post the video, more power to
you.
Ping me off the list and I will get it to you.

Meanwhile, I can easily handle the number of requests I have received
for
videos so far since I am geared up to produce them. I would be
particularly
happy to continue with that especially if there are some donations,
small or
large, making their way to Dave Whitten.

Re: [Hardhats-members] Indexes and Indices

2006-07-19 Thread Nancy Anthracite
According to my Debian Linux online dictionary using Webster from 1913,
indices is the only correct use for roots and powers in mathematics, but
indexes is correct (as well or only, I wonder) elsewhere.

So does that make math majors snobs?

Index \Index\, n.; pl. E. Indexes, L. Indices(?)
...
6. (Math.) The figure or letter which shows the power or root
of a quantity; the exponent. [In this sense the plural is
  always indices.]
  [1913 Webster]

I expect it is according to 1913 Webster because anything newer is still under
copyright. Do you suppose that we will regress as we become more open and
online because copyright protection (for Disney's sake) keeps being extended
longer and longer, so we will be referring to older and older dictionaries?

aren't the same thing: Every key must be supported by a special kind of
cross-reference called a uniqueness index, but you can define a
uniqueness index without efining a key.

You will notice that there are two types of cross-references:
traditional and new style. A uniquenes index is a special kind of
new-style cross-reference, so if you create a traditional
cross-reference, you won't encounter any questions about uniqueness.

(Did you notice how I deftly switched to speaking of cross-references
whenever I needed a plural? I can't say indices because people will
think I'm a snob, but I can't say indexes because people will think
that I can't speak English! Oh well.)

Salman, there might be a little something to help you in the audio file and

Look at the ATC MNEMONIC field (212.2) of the DRUG file (50) for those

I have a few questions regarding pharmacy. Here is what I have done

- A Pharmacy Location has been set up which has to be linked to IV
Room (option in the PBM).
- This pharmacy location is linked to a 'primary inventory point'
whose special primary type attribute is set to 'D' for drugs.
- Inventory items are created manually in the primary inventory
point and linked to a drug item in the local drug file#50.
- Link between the primary inventory point item and local drug file
entry is established properly.
- All the items in the local drug file # 50 have their 'current
inventory' imported with the files (which are independent of local
inventory items and there is no check for verification).
- When a drug is released to the outpatient the inventory in the
local drug file #50 is updated automatically (it doesn't ask for a
corresponding inventory item neither updates it).
- As far as Inpatient Medications is concerned there are 2 cases

*(1) **Unit Dose Medications: *When unit dose medications are ordered
and verified they are sent to the Pick List (which has to be updated for
the current orders) and BCMA Virtual Due List (VDL). After they are updated
pick list shows all the orders verified and the quantities ordered and
gives the option to dispense drugs against the order. When drugs are
dispensed now this pick list (corresponding to a ward group) needs to be
sent to the ATC (most probably linked with a real ward). But as there is no
ATC so system just shows the message 'No ATC Machine Found' and also there
is no update corresponding to the drugs entered in the local drug file or
 pharmacy inventory. **

*(2) **IV Additives/Solutions: *In case of IV Additives there is no
'current inventory' in the local drug file, though the additive can be
linked to a pharmacy inventory item. IV Orders are just sent to BCMA after
verification and again there is no corresponding update of the inventory.
 **
 · Inpatient Medications can
also provide Medications to Outpatients which are being treated in a clinic
which has facility to entertain outpatients but its only for IV
 Additives/Solutions (most probably because IV additives/solutions aren't
easy to be made outside the hospitals.
 **
 **
 my questions are

1. There seems to be ambiguities in the link between Pharmacy and
Inventory. Inventory item is associated with Drug but is never used for
 item keeping.
2. Is there any other way of delivering Inpatient Medication and is
there a way to bypass ATC
3. The link between outpatient pharmacy and inventory is also not
clear
4. Drug administration within a ward is not clear

really low-bandwidth connection, such that everyone, even accessing
the same web pages, suffers from slow downloads? Have you ever run a

Re: [Hardhats-members] Really Great VistA Video

2006-07-17 Thread Nancy Anthracite
I just compressed it from what was there by zipping it up. I have not run it
through to try to compress it further. There are a number of files that make
it up, one main one that has the main content, but others as well that I
assume have to do with the closed captionoing, etc., so it is not an obvious
import as one thing, export as another.

other popular material (movies, MP3s, etc.) you can pretty much bet that
you'll find some hosts online when you're looking to download. But if you
have low demand content, such as this, when you want to download, odds are
pretty high no hosts will be found.

I'm still perplexed though. The movie I watched was under 10
minutes. With any kind of decent compression I dont see how it could be
 650MB.

Maybe we can have a three or more part torrent. Between Alberto, another
person who has written to me and offered, and my server as a server and
client, and any others who want to join, that should work pretty well.
Raymond said he would set it up early next month barring any complications.

Alternatively, if folks just plain want to post the video, more power to you.
Ping me off the list and I will get it to you.

Meanwhile, I can easily handle the number of requests I have received for
videos so far since I am geared up to produce them. I would be particularly
happy to continue with that especially if there are some donations, small or
large, making their way to Dave Whitten.

That address is:

absurd, as it would simply duplicate the B index, so I dweleted both

don't think I ever actually released any code that used a file designed

[Hardhats-members] Test KIDS Install of SQL Mapping Tool

On my server is a first build to for us to check out coutesy of Mike Clayton
from the VA. If you test drive it, please send some feedback. You can find
it and the draft documentation in this directory with a memorable name.

http://opensourcevista.net:/NancysVistAServer/CASH/

From Mike:

The CASH FileMan To Cache SQL Mapping Tool is a simple to use, quick to
install, package that will map any FileMan file to a Cache Class, giving
full SQL and Object access to your FileMan data. The tool is very
flexible and can map anything from a single file, groups of related
files, to all files in a namespace. You can even create XML, stored
procedure and SOAP web service methods!
The tool requires only Cache (4.1+) and FileMan, and can be installed as
a standard KIDS package.
Please read the documentation fully before installing, as with any
powerful tool you need to use with care!

VA collects race and ethnicity information based on requirements imposed by

the HL7 domains.

VA collects races of the following values:
AMERICAN INDIAN OR ALASKA NATIVE
ASIAN
ASIAN OR PACIFIC ISLANDER
BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN
BLACK, NOT OF HISPANIC ORIGIN
DECLINED TO ANSWER
HISPANIC, BLACK
HISPANIC, WHITE
NATIVE HAWAIIAN OR OTHER PACIFIC ISLANDER
UNKNOWN
UNKNOWN BY PATIENT
WHITE
WHITE, NOT OF HISPANIC ORIGIN

Note that you may have more than one race. And collection method may
be:
OBSERVER
PROXY
SELF IDENTIFICATION
UNKNOWN

And the following Ethnicities:
DECLINED TO ANSWER
HISPANIC OR LATINO
NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO

Until the fix is in, routines MAY work for you if exported from Cache 5.0 in
ANSI or DSM format and then run through dos2unix. I have not tried the most
recent FOIA.

Intersystems has been kind enough to keep a single user version of Cache 5.0
available to us for those who wish to use the Hardhats installation
instructions to evaluate VistA and Cache. See the link to the ftp site in
step one of this document.

i $l(x),$e(x)?1a!($e(x)=%),$e(x,2,99)?.an d

 mumps _ZZRI.m

Note: if the i is on the first line (the one starting with 'f') I got
a compile error.

The mumps command generated a _ZZRI.o

Trying to import the routines:

/usr/local/share/vista/june2006/rgtm

GTMD ^%ZZRI

Routine Input Utility - Converts RO file to *.m files.

Formfeed delimited No?
Input device: terminal: /usr/local/share/vista/june2006/r/VistA.rtn

Cache for Windows^INT^VISTA FOIA ROUTINES^~Format=Cache.S~
%RO on 15 Jun 2006 3:44 PM

Output directory : /usr/local/share/vista/june2006/r/

Restored 0 lines in 0 routines.

I did this with an untouched VistA.rtn and one that had the \r\n repaced
with \n (perl -pi -e 's/\r\n/\n/;' VistA.rtn). One thing: running the
ZZRI command with an untouched VistA.rtn; it actually ran a bit longer,
but still failed to import.

Any ideas? Should I just wait until Chris Richardson does his magic?

In Cache, you can map your routines elsewhere. In GTM, there is a way of
setting up the path to the routines so that yours are used first and then
those in a different directory if you do not have a routine that matches what
is called, etc. However, that does not protect the globals from whatever
havoc your routines reap.

You can made a copy of your cache.dat and mumps.dat for a test server. In
Cache, you need to dismount the cache.dat before you copy it and move it to a
different namespace. With GT.M, you can copy a database file with the mupip
backup command.

making the startup routine ^ZU. In Cache 5.1, Configuration Manager Home,
Security Management, Users, unauthenticated user and make VISTA or whatever

In case any of this is what you're asking:
1. The setting of $T[EST] is a side effect of the OPEN command.
2. If you want to write $T to the file, you need to USE MYIO after
opening it.

Apologies if not.

Thanks,

That's good news because it almost certainly means the file couldn't
be opened. Why is that good news? Well, it sounds kind of
paradoxical, but is means we have most likely gotten past the VistA

2006-07-08 Thread Nancy Anthracite
was going to reply with the below, but when I saw the initial question
was that the system hung when entering a ? at a menu prompt, it sounds
like there's a bigger issue here than just the SS option.

I'm not really sure what process is hanging, but if it's the System

 Status

menu option, what I'd do is:

First I'd get to a programmer's prompt and execute each piece of the
option's ENTRY ACTION, one at a time, to see if any of these by itself
  is causing a problem.

 GTMN DUZ,DT,DTIME

 GTMX:$D(^%ZOSF(SS))#2 ^(SS)

 GTMD HOME^%ZIS

 GTM

 Not hanging after that.

If not, then I'd check via the menu system by:
Create a temp routine with the ENTRY ACTION broken up so it's one
  command per line.
Create a dummy menu option that has a temp routine as it's

 ROUTINE field.

D ^XUP and enter the dummy option's name and then check which

 line is

  causing the system to hang.

Do you mean to create a routine with the the ENTRY ACTION with line
breaks? How do I do this? You mean with this code?

 W @IOF
 N DUZ,DT,DTIME
 X:$D(^%ZOSF(SS))#2 ^(SS)
 D HOME^%ZIS

Thank you so very much for all of your help and patience!

On Friday 07 July 2006 13:34, Gregory Woodhouse wrote:
Software Tools Detect Bugs by Inferring Programmer's Intentions
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (07/06/06) Kloeppel, James

University of Illinois computer science professor Yuanyuan Zhou and
her students have developed a suite of tools can that identify and
correct software bugs by inferring the intentions of the programmer.
The tools work by making observations of how the programmer writes
code. Most bug-detection tools require reproduction of bugs during
execution, Zhou said. The program is slowed down significantly and
monitored by these tools, which watch for certain types of behavior.
Most of our tools, however, work by only examining the source code
for defects, requiring little effort from the programmers. Code in
large programs is often copied and pasted, which, while saving a
significant amount of time, is a frequent cause of bugs. Using data
mining techniques, Zhou's CP-Miner searches through programs for copy-
pasted code and scans for consistent modifications. CP-Miner, which
can scan 3 million to 4 million lines of code in less than 30
minutes, has already found numerous bugs in some of the most popular
open-source applications. Since large programs often rely on implicit
rules and assumptions, Zhou and her students developed the PR-Miner
tool to determine when those rules have been broken. Like CP-Miner,
PR-Miner uses data-mining techniques and works very quickly. Zhou and
her students have also developed tools to help software keep running
even in the presence of bugs, such as the Rx recovery tool. Zhou
says, Rx is avoidance therapy for software failure. If the software
fails, Rx rolls the program back to a recent checkpoint, and re-
executes the program in a modified environment. Another tool,
Triage, identifies and diagnoses the nature of a failure at the end-
user site and helps the programmer work to correct it.

Still to come, most of Randy's recordings and two more of mine.

Is this your first time in to this menu?

From looking here I don't think that this was a database problem.

http://www.sanchez-gtm.com/user_documentation/AdminOpsUNIX/UNIX_A_O/h1_proces
s_hangs.html

The ssh session was from a konsole terminal session running KDE on
Debian/Sarge. I have been accesing this server via ssh from putty, Linux
consoles, OpenBSD consoles, KDE's konsole, and xterm and over the last
couple of months (starting with HUI VistA 4) with VistA with no problems.

I recall Nancy mentioning some problem such as this a couple of weeks ago.

Any ideas? Is this a problem with sshd?

Thank you.
