Re: Seeking USB/analog turntable recommendations

2009-08-30 Thread Larry Naessens
Hi Norma. Your belief that it is better to use software when
transferring records and tapes to CD is, in my opinion a hundred
percent correct. When you record directly to CD, you transfer pops,
clicks, residual surface noise such as tape hiss and any other
undesirable anomaly.

While I haven't bought a USB turntable, since my existing equipment does the
job, you should be aware that these units don't come with a separate stylus
to play 78s, unless they've corrected this oversight. While you can play 78s
with the same stylus that plays 33s, it won't sound as good, because of the
wider grooves on the 78s.
Thanks a lot.

But I was just wondering if anyone else had any luck using the NFL field

I hate to give up NFL field pass because I really like it.
So if anyone has learned how to use the NFL field pass this year, please

RE: NFL field pass

2009-08-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
If you heard about this on this list then I think we covered it pretty
thoroughly a few weeks ago.

It's true, the flash player that NFL Field Pass uses is totally
inaccessible. You won't see a single control in the player, so you have no
way of changing the volume, pausing the game or so on. It looks like there's
also a way to switch between games within the player as well, which also
isn't available to us.

You can still bring up the audio for a live game though; you just can't do
anything with the audio except listen to it. To bring up the audio for a
game in progress, go to nfl.com and click on the scores link. For games in
progress and future games, you'll have a listen link. You can click on that
to bring up the audio for a game that's in progress, including the pregame
show. I've listened to two of the three Dolphins preseason games this way so
far. The Dolphins last preseason game was actually televised, so I watched
it on TV instead.

I contacted nfl.com and they said they're working to make the player
accessible. They also gave me the above work around, after I'd already
figured it out for myself. Since this work around doesn't give me access to
all of the features of NFL Field Pass, I'm going to ask for some kind of a
discount or maybe free access to the archived games.

Hey Jude:

To my knowledge, these drivers support all of the Delta family of
soundcards. Furthermore, you can install more than one card on your system
and have separate controls for each card.

Cheers.

Do the delta drivers work on all of the cards or is each driver card
specific. Will the delta 1010 older version work at all with the delta 44?

Jim and others, this news is depressing and doesn't surprise me; it was
only
a matter of time before M-Audio got around to crappifying the interface
for
the Delta series. I have an M-Audio Solo USB Soundcard and I can see how
accessability will have been truly screwed up for us as this interface is
next
to useless for screen reader users. Looks very pretty oh yes!

I've yet to see the rest of this thread but you do wonder if these
companies
couldn't make the software available to a third party to create an
accessible
version which the aesthetically conscious could avoid using. We have no
choice but to be locked out of the interface. Shall carry on reading
this
thread as maybe someone's come up with alternative soundcards with
accessible
interfaces.

Jim. Are you looking for an audio interface that can track several
channels at once? If so the Edirol FA-66 is a nice audio device. The
software is only used for setting buffers and latency. Everything else is
done on the box with real hardware controls and not one menu.

My only issue with the fa-66 is that it is firewire 400 and I don't know
how low the latency can go. My experience is with a friend's system. It
sure does sound nice for playback. I don't know how good the mic pre-amps
are. You get 4 analog inputs and 2 digital channels totalling six
simultaneous tracks. Price is about$400 CDN.

That's how I have mine structured. Trying to get it to work with ITunes
though which required they be tagged propperly.

For example I like listening to an artists progress; so instead of starting
with a, I want it to start with the first year. (so would have to retag the
album to something like 1992 - dirt, instead of just dirt).

Which is why I love my rockboxed Ipod video. Anyway.

In order to make these programs work the way you want them to, it is
sometimes necessary to restructure your storage methodology--by artist
and album rather than just by track name. That's the good and bad
side of these utilities.

Re: New MP3TAG Now Available

2009-08-30 Thread Steve Matzura
It has nothing to do with CD's, hence the word "MP3" in the programs'
anme (MP3Tag, MP3 Tag Studio, etc.).

Re: New MP3TAG Now Available

2009-08-30 Thread Steve Matzura
In order to make these programs work the way you want them to, it is
sometimes necessary to restructure your storage methodology--by artist
and album rather than just by track name. That's the good and bad
side of these utilities.

Hi! I happen to like Ao Audio Extractor. It's free, quick, accessible, and
you can also do bulk conversions.

I'm sure all programs are fine but thought I'd share.
I think the website is
www.aoamedia.com
but not sure if you type ao audio extractor in google it should be one of
the top links.

take care
