Working with an m4a File with Goldwave
I'm not sure if this is off topic or not; so my apology if it is.\ I'm trying to work with a m4a file and can't save it. I receive the following error message when trying to do so: Error [Main Instruction] No encoder or decoder is available for the audio format or an error occurred during conversion. How can I find the proper encoder and decoder to work with this particular file? Thanks in advance. Dan

I used winamp with that particular plugin for years; however, yesterday when I tried getting winamp to install on my Windows 10 machine, it wouldn't do so. Also, after having been on the winamp site, I discovered there are no plugins there anymore. I'm guessing this is because the program is no longer being developed. Getting Audigy ZS 2 soundcard to work
Is it possible to use an SB Audigy ZS 2 soundcard in a windows 7 64 bit machine? When I had the card installed and booted up the computer, I got an error message saying that windows was unable to install device drivers for the device. I then went to the creative support site and downloaded a driver package which I installed; however, when I rebooted after the installation I received a message saying that the drivers could not be loaded for the soundcard. According to the Creative web site the software I downloaded was supposed to work on Windows 7 64 bit. I've since uninstalled the drivers and now when I try reinstalling them I receive an error message stating that I have previously installed drivers for this device and to reboot and try again; but, of course, it doesn't work. I would appreciate any suggestions or answers anyone might have. Thanks. Dan

question on streaming audio with SoundForge
Hi All, Once I could ghave an audio file or program playing via the internet and record it in progress with soundforge via streaming. Now I can not and belive something got accidently changed on my end. I would genuinely be greatful to someone helping to make this feature return. Here is how I have recorded a streaming file in the past. I am using Windows Seven professional. System Access in my primary screenreading software. However, I do have access to JAWS, Window-eyes and NVDA. 1.Open Soundforge. 2. Press control plus the letter r to start the recording process. 3. Press alt plus r to start the actual recording. 4. Access the internet and locate the sound byte I wish to record. Then start that sound byte playing 5. When the audio is finished, go back to soundforge and press escape twice to stop the recording. 6. Edit out the unwanted material at the beginning of this recording and save the final product. RE: Free CD Ripping Program
Personally I like iTunes; however, I'm making this inquiry on behalf of a friend who wants to rip CD's but not have them go into the iTunes library. RE: MP3 TO TEXT - Repost
You might try Express Scribe from NCH Software at: http://www.nch.com.au/index.html Its primary use is transcription. One of the options in the options menu is setting up speech recognition. It will create a text draft of a file. I haven't tried this particular option so I can't vouch for its accuracy. I bought a set of klipsch speakers for $149 U.S. It's a 2.1 system and, for the price, the range is great. I have, however, found out since I've switched computers that you need a good sound card to drive them. Just my two cents worth. Are you saying there are full-range speakers of the same size and price? How does one define full-range? In my experience, it is very rare that one can simply choose between full-range and boombox sound with size and price remaining constant. I have not heard the Bose Companion series so I don't know if I would like them or not, but there are times when I have found a good boombox sound to be acceptable when the speakers fit into a tight space or when they were being used by people who might not be careful with them. I also still use a set of thirty-year-old Freid floor standing speakers which were considered full range and enjoy them as well. Not only did the speaker of this device sound ten times as good, the device had 100 times the functionality of the VR Stream as I was soon to discover. Now yes, the VR Stream is a Daisy/Audio player but the iPhone did all that soon and it wasn't long before I started using the iPhone to play Daisy Books and so forth with, not only that I had the benefits - even then - of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology so I could stream my material and even listen to Internet Radio stations in much the same way as those who use the current generation of the VR Stream do so really, the VR Stream is offering absolutely nothing that we don't already have if we choose to look around. On the other hand, Hims Inc are breaking new ground with their new offering and we find - yet again - that Human Beware are on the catchup roundabout and still trying to tell us all in their marketing stuff that they know the market for the visually impaired? What they actually mean is that they know their own loyal market. On 7 Jun 2014, at 1:04 am, Adrien Collins adriencollins22...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Dane Yes I see where you are coming from, I don't have much use for bluetooth regarding an mp3 or daisy player such as the vr stream but to have built in bluetooth for earphones would have been nice, I was one who requested it but I think I was in a minority. I do use bluetooth on my mobile phones, for pairing the phones etc and have unsuccessfully tried to link a bluetooth keyboard but have ordered a different one so don't give up that easily. I think humanware should give us the choice, whether they will incorporate bluetooth into a future product is anyone's guess, they will have to do something good otherwise they will lose out to the market again, when the vr stream was first released there was not many similar players but now you have many more and some of them are better in their own way but it depends on what you require. I think they had to bring out the new stream mark 2 rather quickly to keep the market otherwise many people would have gone away from humanware products in favour of say I devices or similar gadgets which can do much more in their own way. Again it is personal choice. What will come after stream mark 2 has gone the whole way as it will inevitably do in perhaps 5 or more years time, there will be much different demand. It is good that stream mark 2 has the wifi so there is several options as to what they can put that to use with. So far it is just internet radio for me in the uk

soundforge editing question
Hi all, When editing a sound byte, I use to be able to do the following, and now I can not. I will put these steps down first and then explain more. 1. I press the letter q to make sure cuing is on. 2. 2. I then press the spacebar to start the sound byte playing. 3. 3. Next, I would hold down the left shift key and arrow to the right. 4. Sound forge would play the sound byte as I move to the right, stopping when I stop arrowing. However, now in order to hear where my selection has stopped, I have to listen through the whole section that has been selected. This takes up much more time. I am not sure what has gotten unchecked or changed and am hoping someone on this list does. So simply put, I once could just select the sound and soundforge would just play the selected data. If I stopped arrowing, sound would stop immediately. If I moved the arrow right or left, sound would respond immediately with the new stopping place. I hope I explained my question. I would be glad to share my phone off list withsomeone if they are willing to help out. It is probably something I accidently checked off or on. Thanks for reading this long email.

If anyone's had experience using this, would you please give me some pointers for getting the best use from it? Windows Media Player seems a bit tricky for setting up a playlist to burn to a CD; I use System Access for a screen reader but something's wrong with the Media Library in that it won't let me burn something to CD; Support can't help much in this case. I have tried Digital Jukebox from Marvelsoft; in that case yes, I can make the playlist and then go to the Project menu and tell the program to burn the tracks to CD; a blank CD is in the drive, but when I hit the okay button after I'm given the total playing time for the tracks to burn the CD, the speech just goes silent and a message pops up that the dj.exe has stopped working and should be closed; I haven't heard back from their tech support yet, maybe tomorrow after Christmas. Meanwhile I'm wanting to find out more about Express Burn by NCH Software to find out if it's accessible with screen readers before I plunk down money for it. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me on this; also if anyone has experience with Digital Jukebox by Marvelsoft I'm interested in learning about experiences people had using it. thanks again and Merry Christmas. Now another question, does this speaker system actually have a line out connection as well as your standard line in? I'm wondering if perhaps you have the computer connected to a line out rather than a line in, this can cause some funny things to happen. Re: NOTES ON THE NEW SANGEAN PRD15 PORTABLE AM/FM RADIO
Where could I buy a prd5; I have a cc radio but it doesn't play anymore from its speaker so I've been using it as a tuner and the am is quite good. If the prd5 is better, I think I need one. I listen to a lot of far off stations at night. Thanks for the info. AM sensitivity is shocking! that's a huge disappointment given that this set is an upgrade from the excellent PRD5 which is probably about the most sensitive portable radio on the AM band on Planet Earth right now. FM however is hot! better than the sensitivity and selectivity found on such hot FM performers as the CC SW and the Sangean ATS909X radios. The PRD15 is totally electronically controlled and this means more facilities available including basss and treble controls, these are accessed by pressing in the rotary volume control, a menu pops up offering various audio adjustments to choose from so you turn the volume knob to select the audio adjustment you wish to modify and then press the knob in, turning of the knob from that point adjusts the desired setting but after 5 seconds of inactivity the knob reverts to the volume audio adjustment. I think the addition of bass and treble adjustments is a waste of time as they don't really make the radio sound any better, best leave it on Flat sound setting. The PRD15 will charge rechargeable batteries through a built-in charging circuit, as yet I've not found out how this is activated but I suspect 1 of the buttons on the front of the set is used to switch the charging circuit on, can't see any battery type switch in the battery compartment, that's been the standard place to find such things on Sangean sets in the past. This set is still a good value for money receiver for the price of $90.00 particularly if you like long distance FM listening, its a killer performer here with no overload on the FM band whatever, stereo sound through the speakers isn't too bad. Hi Loren, This is Dan from Illinois. We have spoken before about piano tuning. Anyway, here is some internet tv access. It might not be exactly what you are looking for. N but it may provide a bit of viewing/listening enjoyment. I went to this web site. It is really neat. At any given time they are running five different programs with audio described, TV programs: the categories are: Comedy, drama, brain, etc... check it out. I went to the link on my iPhone and it went through the web browser of Safari. I listened to the TV show Cold Case last night at 7PM. It had the audio description. Blind TV is a free web based service that provides audio-only television programming, in several genres, all with audio description. It currently has 5 completely audio described channels, featuring dozens of shows and thousands of episodes. There aren't any schedules, but new programs begin at 0 and 30 minutes after the hour. If you don't like what's on, just keep changing channels until you do. http://blindy.tv/ To receive emails regarding Dan's daily Tips or the Daily HotSpot Devotional, send an email to dthomps...@mchsi.com with subscribe Dan's Tips or subscribe Hotspot Devotional in the subjectline. of your truth and live according to your word. RE: internet tv
Hi again Loren, Here is another article where you can check on described tv shows in your area. They are not on the computer. However, AFB has a tool that allows for finding what chanels on your tv will be having described movies etc. AFB Launches Described TV Listings! Article edited to insert step by step directions written by Dan. In order to view discribed TV shows the SAP option must be activated under setup menus provided This option can be toggled on/off. Sighted help will probably be needed to make this change. For further information, contact: Mark Richert, Esq. Director, Public Policy, AFB (202) 469-6833 mrich...@afb.net The landmark Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA) has begun a revolution in mainstream telecommunications and video technology accessibility. Among its many groundbreaking achievements, the CVAA mandates several of the most popular television networks to make some of their prime-time and children's programs accessible to viewers with vision loss by adding video description. To help celebrate and promote this achievement, AFB has implemented a Described TV Listings page on our website, an online guide where visitors can determine which shows will be described as well as when they air. Video description (sometimes called audio description or simply description) makes television programs and movies accessible for people who are blind or visually impaired. Short verbal descriptions of action or key visual scenes in a program, such as setting, costumes, and facial expressions, are provided to add context. The descriptions are inserted into pauses within a program's dialog. Since July 1, 2012, the networks required to each provide approximately four hours of video description per week include ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, USA, the Disney Channel, TNT, Nickelodeon, and TBS. This expanded array of choices is a much-fought-for complement to the current rich menu of described programming that PBS has offered for many years. AFB's Described TV Listings initiative makes it easier to find which shows are described, allowing people with vision loss to enjoy their favorite shows alongside their sighted peers. AFB is deeply grateful to the Rovi Corporation and Comcast for helping us create this valuable tool. The Altec Lansing Expressionists speakers have little in the way of features but who really cares about that when cost is low and sound - for a pair of desktop speakers - is worth recommending on its own. The speaker system has only 3 buttons, power, volume up and volume down which are situated on the rear of the right speaker. the volume up and down buttons are identifiable by the plus and minus signs, the power button is a button with a detent, not that much different to the sort of button you'd find at the bottom of an iPhone screen. The Expressionists speakers are designed in such a way that they cannot be easily knocked over, this is achieved by the speakers having cylinders at the rear which touch the desk and rubber feet at the front, I also suspect that the cylinders give an opportunity to the speakers to output more bass. Each speaker contains 1 3 inch driver and sound is surprisingly good throughout the spectrum. The system has 2 3.5MM jack input sockets which are mixed together so 2 devices can be run simultaneously if required. Volume is louder than I expected and the system does indeed deliver a good punchy sound, nothing tinny about these speakers whatever. If you want high performance for music or games then this speaker set is obviously not the 1 to pick but if you have a very limited budget and want a set of speakers with all round good performance without too much compromise then this system at $50.00 is very hard to pass up, I'll be using this speaker system until my Harman Kardon sound sticks arrive in a few weeks and I have no trouble with that. ** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

I have tried other online converters, but they seem to crash IE9. The Youtube video to audio converters I have tried without success include listentoyoutube.com, and videotomp3.com. I am wondering if anyone has discovered a Youtube to audio converter that is equal or near equal to Youtube-mp3.org. I discovered while researching what was behind this sudden and strange development I was curious as to why Google is playing waterboy for ASCAP. However, I have subsequently concluded that Google has its own turf to protect, and it is the ring tone revenues they are likely receiving from the Android apps markets. Re: winamp help please
Here is also the keys for converting files in winamp. Converting audio files using winamp DATE: 1. Open up Winamp from the programs menu or the desktop. 2. now find the file that you want to convert and open it up in Winamp, either by pressing enter on it or through the open file dialogue. 3. Ok, now press the letter v to stop it, we don't want it to keep playing. 4. now here's where the fun starts. go to the preferences, by pressing control plus p of course. 5. go to the plugins section and then choose output in the tree view. 6. now tab over to the list of plugins, and focus on the one called the Nullsoft Discwriter plugin, your version number may vary but it all comes to the same. 7. now, it's time to configure it so that we can tell what type of file to convert to. so tab to the configure button. 8. now you're going to be in a dialogue with some buttons in it. the first one will determine where your output file, that is to say your converted file will be saved. you may hear something like, output file location c:\doccuments and settings...my music button. If you press that button, a dialogue will pop up and you can then determine where your file will be saved. 9. now that you've done that, you'll be back in the dialogue, and the next thing you'll see is a checkbox that says, output to directory containing source files, and by default, this is unchecked. This is so that you can have your converted file in exactly the same folder as the original file was. so check that if you want the file to go there, i would do that for simplicities sake. You can always move it later. 10. Next checkbox you'll see says, display save as dialogue for every file. This is so that if you're converting an entire list of files, you'll be able to determine where each file goes. I would imagine that you would probably want them all to go in the same folder, but maybe not? so check that if you like, i normally leave it as is because usually I'm only converting one file. This is unchecked by default. 11. Next up, we have a combo box that determines if there are or numbers at the beginning of your outputted file name. the choices you have are, disabled, 1 digit, 2 digits, 3 digits and 4 digits. I can't imagine why anyone would actually want 4 digits, that is unless you're converting literally thousands of files, which i've never done and probably won't ever do. If I'm converting something from an album i like to at least have a number at the beginning of the file name, 01, or 02, depending on where you are in the playlist of files. but if you want to disable this, you can. 12. Next, we have a combo box that determines the title format, the one by default is % title %. this means you get the % which equals the first 2 numbers like we mentioned before, artist name, title and then the track name. so i would keep that as is. 13. Next we have output file type, and the choice is set to auto recommended. this is so you can choose different file formats. and 14. Next down the line is a checkbox that says enable single mode. Leave this unchecked. 15. Now we're getting to the good part here, hang with me folks! this next checkbox will determine wether or not Winamp actually remembers what file you convert to a lot, so if you convert to mp3 a lot, leave this checkbox checked so you can just perform the final few steps. 16. Tab once again and you'll land on a button that determines what file you can actually convert your file to. for mine in particular, this button says, MPEG layer 3 192KBPS, 44.1 K Hertz, stereo that's usually what i convert to, but if you want something different, you can press this button and you can change the file type, bitrate and sampling rate of your file. Note that if you don't have the radium codec installed, you won't be able to convert to anything higher than 56k, 22.50 k hertz stereo. I believe the lame encoder will fix this too, and the lame encoder should be very easy to find if you do a little hunting around. 17. It's time to actually do the conversion! So tab past that next checkbox, i have no idea what the thread priority hack refers to, so just press ok and you'll be in the preferences again. close the preferences in the usual way. 18. Press the letter x which will essentially play your file. But you won't hear any sound. Trust me, you won't. that's just how this plugin works because it moves very quickly. If you want to know the status of your conversion, press the hotkey which reads your title bar, insert t for JAWS and control shift t for Window-eyes, or whatever one you use. You will know your file is converted when you hear the name of your file, followed by Winamp stopped. Note that while the file conversion happens, you may notice that software speech is slower to respond, and sometimes it just doesn't happen at all, but like I say the conversions happen very quickly. 19. If you followed all the steps above, congratulations, you just

Vicky 1. Connect the iPod. When iTunes opens, if you're asked if you want to sync with your iTunes library, say no, and enable disk use. 2. Use Windows Explorer to copy the iPod Control folder into the folder you use for your iTunes library. This will copy all the music, but the file names will be seemingly random combinations of letters and numbers. 3. Go to PReferences in iTunes by pressing Control-Comma. Switch to the Advanced tab in this multi-page dialog box, and check the Keep iTunes media folder Organized check box. 4. Go to the File menu in iTunes, choose ADd Folder to LIbrary, and select the iPod control folder. All the music will be added to your iTunes library, and iTunes will name all the files based on their tags, so if the title, artist and album tags are correct, the music will be named and organized correctly. - Original Message - From: dan Kerstetter dh...@comcast.net To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, October 08, 2011 2:29 PM Subject: Moving Music from iPod to Computer How do I move music from my iPod to iTunes? Since I've updated skype, I also updated skype talking. Skype talking will not launch no matter what I've tried. I've even gone to its folder in program files and tried to start from its executable file. Also after trying to launch skype talking, I've launched skype and skype talking doesn't show in the list of external programs to be authorized. I would appreciate any help with correcting this problem. Dan To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
