[TheDarkGift] Lestat de Lioncourt
Lestat de Lioncourt Lestat is the narrator of the novels The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, The Tale of the Body Thief, and Memnoch the Devil. Marius' description of him as Brat Prince is highly accurate. Lestat's charisma and refusal to fail get him into and out of more trouble than any other vampire, or most humans, for that matter. Lestat, ever the maverick and the laughing trickster. Six feet tall, a young man of twenty when made, with huge warm blue eyes and thick flashy blond hair, square of jaw, with a generous beautifully shaped mouth and skin darkened by a sojourn in the sun which would have killed a weaker vampire, a ladies' man, an Oscar Wildean fantasy, the glass of fashion, the most bold and disregarding dusty vagabond on occasion, loner, wanderer, heartbreaker and wise guy. - The Vampire Armand ?http://lestat.darksideoftheglass.com/lestat.htm?
[TheDarkGift] Lestat de Lioncourt (Vampire)
Lestat de Lioncourt (Vampire) Lestat de Lioncourt (pronounced les-tät with a rather French flair, according to Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle and page 151 in Memnoch the Devil) is a fictional character appearing in several novels by Anne Rice, including The Vampire Lestat. He is a vampire and the main character in the majority of The Vampire Chronicles, narrated in first person. Lestat is the seventh son of the marquis d'Auvergne and was born in 1760, in Auvergne, France in a castle belonging to his ancestors. Despite his apparent highborn background he grew up in relative poverty; his ancestors squandered the family riches. As the youngest in the family, Lestat stood to inherit nothing. His relationship with his father and brothers is strained due to irreconcilable differences. Perhaps the most pivotal moment in his mortal life was when the towns people came to him about the wolves coming into the village frightening all the people. In this encounter he was nearly killed by the pack of 8 wolves he was hunting in the mountains surrounding Auvergne. The death of his hounds and his horse in this hunt had a profound effect upon his apparent mental stability. He returned home a different person, determined to follow his own path. He goes into a deep depression about his encounter with the wolves and the meaning of life, and with a friend, Nicolas, a violinist, he leaves Auvergne and heads for Paris, intending to become an actor. During a performance, he attracted the attention of an ancient vampire named Magnus, who would watch him and soon abduct and hold him prisoner. As a vampireFinding Lestat, Magnus makes him a vampire, against his wishes. However, Magnus, weary of life, commits suicide soon after by throwing himself on a huge bonfire, leaving Lestat to fend for himself without any kind of guidance. Lestat finds himself heir to nearly inexhaustible wealth, and begins an adventure that leads him all around the world. Lestat has always been a very lonesome creature. In his childhood the only member of his family that he had any connection with was his solitary mother. Gabrielle de Lioncourt was a beautiful woman of Italian descent from whom Lestat inherited his blond hair and good looks. Gabrielle was the only member of her family who could read and often immersed herself in her novels, neglecting the mundane life around her. Lestat both admired her and hated her for this, yet he was the only person of her family she could also confide in so they developed a silent but strong bond. For this very reason Lestat made Gabrielle his first vampire companion when Gabrielle came to Paris in search of Lestat, wishing to see him before she succumbed to her fatal disease. Lestat also made his mortal best friend, Nicolas de Lenfent, a vampire as well. Nicolas, having fled Auvergne with Lestat to come with Lestat to Paris, knew him very well and they were very close. They both worked at a small theatre called Renaud's, Lestat starting off as a stage hand and then, to his surprise, becoming star of the show while Nicolas became a violinist in the theatre's small orchestra. After Lestat was abducted and made a vampire he tried to distance himself from his mortals friends and family, but he still provided for them. He bought Nicolas an apartment and many other luxuries, such as a Stradivarius violin, with his newly acquired coin of the realm. The whole time Nicolas was very suspicious of Lestat and his new life and that suspicion grew when Lestat disappeared with his mother the night she came to visit and Gabrielle returned magically healed. Lestat eventually gave into the love he felt for Nicolas and made him a vampire as well after saving him from the coven of religious vampires, the self-proclaimed Children of Darkness, which were led by the powerful vampire, Armand. After Nicolas rejected Lestat as his new maker and sunk into madness and Lestat collapsed Armand's coven, Lestat bought Renaud's old theatre and gave it to Armand and Nicolas to do with it whatever they wished, while he and Gabrielle left Paris to explore the world. Throughout his long life, Lestat is plagued by common philosophical questions, such as Are my actions good or bad?, Is there a God?, Am I in His plan?, What happens after death?, What makes a person happy? He finds himself more in love with humanity than ever before, despite his relationship with mankind being savage. For a while, he sees life as the Savage Garden, filled with beauty and death. In the space of only a few centuries, Lestat becomes one of the most powerful of all vampires, surpassed only by the most ancient ones who age in the millennia. This is in part because the blood he receives from Marius, one such ancient, is incredibly powerful, and because he has a relationship with the vampire queen Akasha. Because of his boldness, Lestat's seniors refer to him affectionately as 'the Brat Prince', a title of which

I already emailed about how I feel about this writing, but I forgot to mention that I LOVE the fact that you chose that particular model, Travis Fimmel, to portray Lestat (the pic). I love him...ever since I first saw him, I thought that he was how I had always pictured Lestat in my head. He's GORGEOUS! Do you do wallpapers/graphics using Travis as Lestat? I would LOVE to see them I have a whole file on photobucket.com if you'd like to borrow and make some more (hint!). [TheDarkGift] Lestat de Lioncourt
After all this time, here I am again, sitting as I did so long ago, in front of a screen, typing an account of my nights in this world. I'm not writing a book this time of course. I've done that, and there is enough accounting of who I am and what I've done in this life to both thrill and bore the most ardent of readers. I'm not done with that yet either, but for now, I'll try to focus on this realm. Yet I've heard it said that in the books themselves I was a bit too verbose. Do you think that to be true? It's nothing I've not been accused of throughout my life. Should I remain silent then? No, perhaps it is better that as before, I begin, wondering how to begin. I wouldn't want to disappoint you by being inconsistent, even though that is a trait immortality seems not to have removed from my personality. The words of Thoreau come to mind. He said "Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." The ever unpredictable Oscar Wilde who told us, "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." Sometimes I wonder if that is all I've ever been. I am a dreamer who as my mother once said, has to rage against every pre-conceived notion, sometimes without even intending to do so. Quite the recipe for an unquiet life as I've led, wouldn't you agree? Lately my dreams have been leading my life, and it is this I intend to tell you about here, within these pages. In no small part, those I've given the notoriously named 'dark gift', are responsible for this. Namely your cherished Louis. He likes to think himself capable of showing me the softer side of this life. He always has, but I know you see, I know all too well how it is, and will be, forever. So many things have changed, but so many more never will. So it is with this in mind that I present myself to you once more if you choose to have me, for what little while you can. Do you love me still? Are you sitting there quiet, saying only to yourself, "I'm listening, Lestat."? Then listen. Hear my dark heart awaken each night and at once relish and condemn this life. Hear my dreams which leave me gasping and full of a curious fear. Listen to all, in the warm by the fire. Know me, as you have before and will again. [TheDarkGift] Lestat de Lioncourt
Title: AOL Email Lestat de Lioncourt Lestat is the infinite warm-blooded man, who combines a penchant for action, with a lack of regret and a refusal to compromise. Lestat lives according to his own whim and in defiance of society's rules. He courts disaster and at times lands himself in considerable trouble, but in the end he usually ends up gaining from his excesses. As a vampire, Lestat wants to use his evil image to do good. In his own words, it is better to be evil in appearance yet good inside, than good in appearance yet evil inside. His goal is eventually to redeem himself and so he chooses to feed on those mortals who commit evil against their own kind. He is a bloodthirsty vampire, who aspires to be good, but can't be. Lestat loves style and excess, and as a vampire shows a predilection for velvet, no matter what the dictates of current fashion. Nicknamed the Brat Prince, Lestat is 6 feet tall, with long blond hair and vivid blue eyes. He is the seventh son of a minor French aristocrat and decides at the age of twelve that he wishes to join a monastery. He is driven in this by his love for order and goodness. His father forbids him from pursuing this goal and takes away his books. Dissatisfied with his life at home, Lestat attempts to run away with a travelling theatre group, only to be returned to Auvergne a short time later. Lestat's mother, Gabrielle is hurt when Lestat runs away. She is the only member of his family that he really gets on with, although he sometimes resents her for her tendency to indulge in long periods of silent reading. One day, Lestat's desire for adventure leads him to try his luck at hunting a pack of wolves. He manages to kill eight of the wolves, although he almost dies in the attempt. His bravery wins him the friednship of Nicolas and together the two of them set out to seek their fortunes in Paris. When they arrive there, they gain employment in a theatre and Lestat quickly becomes a famous actor. Eventually Lestat is abducted by a vampire called Magnus, who forces him to accept the Dark Gift. He teaches Lestat the rudiments of being a vampire and then destroys himself in a roaring fire, leaving a wealth of priceless treasure to his chosen successor. Lestat uses Magnus' material legacy to buy the theatre and a series of presents for Nicolas. Lestat is visited in Paris by Gabrielle, who informs him that she is dying. In order to save her from her fate, Lestat transforms her into a vampire. In the middle of their explorations together, they encounter Armand's coven. Armand mobilises his coven against the two newcomers and uses Nicolas to try and lure Lestat, but it is Lestat who is triumphant in this conflict. Lestat then decides to make Nicolas into a vampire. Unfortunately, this action does not bring Lestat and Nicolas closer together. Instead they quickly begin to drift apart. It is then that Armand asks to join Lestat on his travels and tells him the story of his existence. Lestat refuses Armand's request and persuades him to take up the management of the Theater des Vampires, where the remains of his coven await him. He then sets off in search of Marius, an ancient vampire who has been described to him in considerable detail by Armand. After ten years of searching, Lestat is so stricken by the departure of Gabrielle and the death of Nicolas that he goes into the ground to experience what is described in The Vampire Lestat as the first death. It is then that Marius seeks him out and brings him to the island where he lives. Marius tells Lestat his life story and shows him the mother and father of the vampire race. Lestat awakens the mother vampire, Akasha, and she permits him to drink her blood. The two are then separated by the father vampire, Enkil. When he discovers what has happened, Marius feels compelled to send Lestat away for his own safety. Lestat travels to New Orleans to be with his ageing father. It is there that he meets Louis and later Claudia, both of whom he transforms into vampires. These three then live together for sixty five years, until Claudia's hatred for Lestat drives her to try and destroy him. In a greatly weakened state, Lestat goes into the ground once more in 1929. He is awakened once more in the 20th century by the sound of rock music and becomes a rock star himself. His music awakens Akasha and she abducts him. It is Akasha's belief that all humanity's problems are caused by men and once she has wiped out most of the vampires in the world, she sets about destroying them. Despite the fact that he loves Akasha and gains great strength from drinking her blood, Lestat cannot stand to support her in this. In the end Akasha is defeated by another ancient vampire called Mekare. In The Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat agrees to temporarily switch bodies with a human called James Raglan, so he can experience being human again. Unfortunately, James Raglan doesn't return Lestat's body at the allotted time and Lestat is forced

If you wanted to be his girlfriend he probably would mess with your mind for a few minutes and then bite you, plus he seems to be more atracted to Louie and the same sex anyways. " 'Evil is a point of view,' he whispered now. 'We are immortal. And what we have before us are rich feasts that conscience cannot appreciate and mortal men cannot know without regret.
