Yojimbo 1.5 - Images Questions
So glad to see a new version of YJ, and already liking some of the new features. Questions regarding the new Images class: 1. Should there be a menu item or button for New . . . Image? 2. How do I get images that are currently in (otherwise blank) notes to show up as Images? Thanks! Yojimbo 1.5 and sync services
When I last dealt with Yojimbo sync issues, the bottom line seemed to be that Apple hadn't intended sync services to deal with the type and volume of data that Yojimbo can throw at it (the best example being the sync conflict dialog's uselessness (best case) or infinite beachball hang (typical case) when trying to present a resolution dialog for a large chunk of binary data). Now that Yojimbo 1.5 and Leopard are both here, can someone from BB give an update on the situation? Has Apple beefed up sync services so that it can handle Yojimbo-type loads? Is there anything BB can do or is doing to be gentler to sync services? What's the future look like for pushing big binary blobs through .Mac sync? -John -- -- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list yojimbo-talk@barebones.com. This happens because the text system puts TIFF data on the clipboard, and that is read back in as the image. You can avoid this by dragging out to the Finder first to create a file, the dragging the file back in. (Yes, I realize this isn't terribly convenient.) Yes, that was how I converted. Thanks for the behind-the-curtain explanation. Makes perfect sense. However, based on this I am curious as to why an animated gif dragged from notes and dropped into a TextEdit document doesn't get converted by the clipboard. Again, this is not intended as criticism--just trying to understand the tool and how to best use it. And if we can save another list follower a little pain along the way... Restricting Spotlight to search only Yojimbo items
Hi, Now that Spotlight is so fast with Yojimbo (especially on 10.5), I'll be using it a lot. But if I want to do a search of Yojimbo items only is this possible? Re: Yojimbo 1.5 and sync services
On an anecdotal level, here's my story. I've got a 1.5mbps DSL line at my office which no one else was using. I have a little over 1100 items in my Yojimbo DB (which weighs in at about 162mb). .Mac routinely throws up all over itself trying to sync Yojimbo even when left alone untouched not-even-running during the sync process. What does .Mac tell me? The sync failed because of an error. As I wrote on my website: Oh, it failed because of an error. Gee, thanks. What-the-blank else other than an error would cause it to fail? Here's what it would look like if .Mac wrote up death certificates: Patient died due to death. Failed due to an error…. DUH! Grrr. Long story short, I wouldn't rely on it if I were you. Short addendum: I'm not sure there's anything BB can do. This one is up to Apple to fix. Every January I hope to hear that something amazing is going to happen with .Mac. Every year it's a disappointment. Last year's big news: 10GB of space! Yippee. I've got like 300gb of space from Dreamhost for about the same price. 10gb, give me a break. Yeah, I can upload all my pictures and video now!
