Hello, mga classmates na nasa Pilipinas...
Kamusta muna...
As you know I'm into insurance selling so bebentahan ko na rin kayo.. di na ko mahihiya.. ha? Ganyan talaga ang nagbebenta kasi kailangan ng production e.. :-)
Sa mga wala pang fire insurance ang mga bahay or kotse (upto 10 ears old), baka pwedeng mag-quote... kung may existing naman, baka pwedeng mag-quote upon expiry.. I'm 90% sure I can come up with a cheaper deal for you.. although mura na talaga ang fire insurance.
Sa mga nasa abroad naman, baka you want to get for your relatives here.
In case you buy, I'll be the one to deliver the policy and pick up payments if needed although marami ding ways to pay like thru bank or credit card. 
I'm also into pre-need like educ plan (you can get kahit wala pa kayong anak for investment, and avail of the benefits on the 16th year, whether or not magka-anak kayo), or life plan (if you're thinking of leaving an amount to your loved ones when you pass away)... 
Sa mga nasa companies handling insurance ng company cars, insurance ng office or bonds, baka pwede nyo akong i-refer... thanks a lot and good day...

Talaga? ganun lang kababa ang kita nila? Sa insurance minsan mataas, minsanmababa (pero in comparison sa mga kita niyo, e laging mababa.. hehehe) ... lalo na kung TPL lang ang kukunin which has an annual premium of P552... minsan ang fire insurance, ang annual premium is 500. So, there are times na mas mahal pa yung transportation kaysa sa commission... lalo na kung ipapa-1 day delivery like LBC na P75 ang bayad, abunado pa... minsan, pati kung mag-i-inquire lang, nagre-request pa na puntahan... pero ok lang, there is joy in knowing that the clients are satisfied... and of course, it's not always sacrifice, may reaping time then... and considering the time I spend on selling, around 4hrs a day, at wala pang boss and you get to meet a lot of people, masasabi kong ok na rin...

Anyway, cge, Dodgie, antayin ko yung insurance ng sasakyan mo next year... mabilis lang naman ang one year e... :-)

No, Mel, that's the annual premium payable pa in installments. : -)

Generally, it's very easy to compute insurance premiums for cars, i quote on the spot to my clients. The only thing needed is the value of the car. Unfortunately, I don't have the value of a 2005 Toyota Rav4.. all the while I thought I was always bringingit. Usually, clients get insurance from the dealer on the first year because it's "free" or part of the package...they're not aware that it's not really free or they simply don't want to get into the hassle of getting in touch with an insurance company or agent... but it's really cheaper to go directly to the insurance company/agent..even if the dealer would offerother "freebies" such as leather seat cover, etc Most cars I quote are more than one year old... If I quote brand new cars,we base thevalue on the actual price. Anyway, just to come up with a value, I'll just assume that a 2005 Rav4 costs 1.2M. If my estimate is way off, I'll e-mail you another

Hello guys, just wanted to share something I learned when I was being recruited by a brokerage company, it's about interest rates...
... kasi daw most people don't really see the difference between interest rates... it's like earning 4% is simply earning 4times as much as 1%... actually, it's much more, specially with the time element.
Here are some figures if someone, for example, saves his P100,000...
at 1% (interest in savings bank)
It will take 70 years before his money doubles (P200,676.34) For us, we'd be over 100 years old by that time. At 10 yrs, his money would have grown to P110,462.21.
At 20 yrs, P122,019.00.
At 30 yrs, P134,784.79
At 4%
It will take only 18 years for his money to double to P202,581.65.
At 10 yrs, his money would have grown to P148,024.43.
At 20 yrs, 219,112.31.
At 30 yrs, 324,339.75
At 12% (Some housing loans)
It will only take 8 years for the money to double to P197,382.27.
At 10 yrs, it's already P247,596.32.
At 20 yrs, it's already P768,996.58.
At 30 yrs, it'a already P2,388,386.65
At 16% (Other housing loans)
It will take only 7 years for it tp double to P210,034.17
At 10 yrs, it's already P327,841.19
At 20 yrs, it's alrdy P1,446,251.45
At 30 yrs, it's alrdy P6,380,044.36
At 39% (Credit Card rate of 3.25% per month)
The money would have double to P193,210 on the second year.
At 10 years, it's already P2,692,452.20.
At 20 years, it's already P72,492,988.72
At 30 years, it's already P1,951,839,072.65
Assuming credit card loans are left untouched - no payments and no additional loans were made, they will easily balloon to amounts almost not imaginable.
Anyway, the message is let's avoid loans as much as possible. Pay credit card bills before they earn iterests (just enjoy the convenience and freebies! - but be strong enough to resist temptation; otherwise, get rid of it). Let's also invest in wise investments... save less in banks (just have enough for emegency because big savings in banks are usually withdrwan, too, and spent on things that don't last). Let's exert effort to save and invest, and spend less on things that don't really last. Other investments could be jewelries or real estate. For smaller amounts, it would be wise to invest intrust or mutual funds, stocks or (if you still trust us) pension plans. :-)

Hi, Mel! Sorry for the very late reply. I intended to get quotes from different companies before I give them to you, unfortunately, time's passing and I might as well just give you what I have right now. I only have Philam... Ironically, I don't have Ayala Plans right now.

Anyway, Mel, I just wish to know your intention of getting Pension Plans for your mom. If your intention is to be able to givehersomething after say, 15 years, baka mas maganda to get Pension Plan under you, then give the proceeds to her.

Kasi if you are the plan holder, you are insured while paying the plan. That means if something happens to you, it's your mom who will benefit - both with the insurance proceeds and the maturity benefit on the 15th year. If your mom is insured, ikaw ang makikinabang sa beneficiary when she passes away. Unless, that is your intention. With regards to the maturity benefit, just as I said, you can claim the benefits and give it to her. And since you are younger, you will most likely stay alive longer and enjoy more of the benefits.

Here are the premiums:
Plan 1 (Pangarap Pension)
Total premium: P278,940.00 (payable in 5 years at PP55,788 per year).
Benefits: P500,000, on the 15th year or 10 years after the paying period
Insurance benefit for the beneficiary, i.e., you mom: P500,000 (in case of death due to accident during the paying or waiting period) . P50,000 only if due to other causes.
On the 15th year, you can get the whole amount, or leave it first and just get interest eranings, or invest it at Philamfor further growth.

Based on my computation the P278,940 earned at 7%rate (but I just computed starting on the 5th year, the time the paying period is over)... so that means to say that's a fairly good investment rate. That does not include yet the fact that you are insured. That means youcan be confident that you can still get everythingyou planned for your mom even if something happens to you. That does not appear in the interest rates. :-)

Plan2 (Future Fund Plus)
Total premium: P321,500 (payable in 5 years at P64,300 per year)
Benefits: P500,000, on the 15th year or 10 years after the paying period
Insurance benefit for the beneficiary, i.e., you mom: P1,000,000 (in case of death due to accident during the paying or waiting period) .
P500,000 only if due to other causes.
Based on my computation, your invested at a little less than 7% per annum.

Plan3 (Future Fund Prime)
Total premium: P743,500 (payable in 5 years at P148,700 per year)
Benefits: P500,000, on the 15th year or 10 years after the paying period
Plus: P50,000 yearly return for ten years during the waiting period (totalling P500,000), on top of the P500,000 maturity
Insurance benefit for the beneficiary, i.e., you mom: P1,000,000 (in case of death due to accident during the paying or waiting period) .
P500,000 only if due to other causes.
Based on my computation, your invested at a little over 7% per annum, excluding the yearly benefit you received and insurance coverage.
If you just wish to choose from among the three, baka that would be better, kasi baka masyado nang marami kung may ibang plans pa from other insurance companies. But I will still get from Ayala Plans (and Sun Life if you like).

OK naman ang insurance business, right now I'm getting accreditation with my fourth non-life insurance company (BPI/MS, UCPB General Insurance, Mapfre and now Generali Pilipinas).
It's a good thing we're allowed to represent many insurance companies.. that way, the client can canvass through us... hindi na siya mahihirapan, captured mo pa yung business. Anyway, di ko naman bini-build up ang isang company, I present to them around 2 insurance companies, they choose what they like. I'm not really a hard seller, but continuously I have clients because that is where I worked. May sideline pa ako na pre-need (educ plan, pension, memorial, at health card) at Life Insurance na rin. Again, I don't sell hard... I just let them know the insurance company I represent.. if they like it I service them.. :-)

Ang mahirap lang ay may second baby na kami now almost ten months old... during the early stages di namin talaga pinapaalaga sa yaya so ako lahat... ako nagpapaligo and nagpapakain sa two kids (3 year old and 10 months old) then I leave them to a relative. That's the hard part, my work is just half day.I leave around 12noon and am home before 7pm. Buti na lang ang non-life insurance ay may renewal so there is business kahit di gaano nag-o-offer. Pero marami akong lost opportunities dahil sa limited time na ina-allot ko. Yup marami nasasayang and nanggigigil ako for those lost businesses. Anyway, ganyan talaga.

Ikaw, dagdagan mo na ang baby mo.. isa pa lang di ba? Para may kalaro na ang panganay mo. Pero warning ko lang... talagang napaka-hirap lalo na kung ikaw talaga ang mag-aalaga...

Hi, Randy, pasingit lang.. if you're asking which one is cheaper, usually mas cheaper anf flexi-rate... fixed rates have high rates simply because if you want security, the lending company will put in a higher rate just to be sure they won't be on the losing end in the future.

What you are buying when you avail of the fixed rate is the certatinty that the premiums will remain the same no matter what (syempre that would be more expensive). Nope, I still believe many of us love and care for our country... that is why we pray for ourcountry, that is why we stay in our country, that is why we try to lnow what's goin on even if we're far away, that is why we go back to our country even if we work outside of it ...

Problems are just part of it, what's on the news is always what's wrong. Yes, there a lot of things wrong in the country but a lot of people are also doing something to save the country, not necessarily in big things but in small, unreported things. These include volunteers who help the needy, the people who pay taxes honestly, the people who do their best during work, and many ordinary people doing ordinary good things...

Pa-share din...

I was into volunteer works for around four years... sometimes we go to a small town and clean the area... the following year, we go back again... frustrating because they depended on voluteers... so I said maybe eductaion is the real answer... so we did focus on educating the people through lectures... still frustrating because what happened seemed to be just presentation of facts, it seemed they did not learn... I kept wondering what we could do for them... we set an example they rely on us; we teach, they don't act... maybe after those two, it's just good to pray for them... that's why now I appreciate the contemplatives.. they dedicate their life to prayer constantly praying that someday people will change... 

In the meantime,I think we should mind our business more... I read from a book by Andrew Matthews which says, "the best thing we can do for the poor is to be not one of them"... maybe, if we work hard, pay our taxes, make the company we work for productive, our company will prosper... our kids will see our example and from there, a new breed of population will come... let's be honest in our dealings, let's not waste office hours, and let's educate our kids who will run our country in the future...

Let's pray constantly, too... join rallies? Hopefully our attendance in rallies would be minimal... let's start with ourselves , and like Bob, educate the people around us... we can only doso much, let's do all that we can...

Need to cut my part short... got to go again... God blessyou all!

The following was written by INTEL General  Manager Robin Martin about the Philippines:   Filipinos (including the press, business people  and myself) tend to dwell too much on the negative  side, and this affects the perception of foreigners,   even the ones who have lived here for a while. The  negative perception of the Philippines is way  disproportionate to reality when compared to  countries  like Columbia, Egypt, Middle East, Africa, etc.   Let us all help our country by balancing the  negative  with the positive especially when we talk to  foreigners,  whether based here or abroad.   Looking back and comparing the
 Philippines today and   1995 (the year I came back), I was struck by how  much  our country has progressed physically.   Consider the following:   1. The great telecom infrastructure that we have now   did not exist in 1995. 1995 was the year the  telecom industry was deregulated. Since then  billions of dollars have been invested in both  fixed  line and cellular networks producing a system  with  over 5,000 kms of fiber optic backbone at a world  competitive cost. From a fixed line capacity of  about 900,000 in 1995 we now have over 7 million.  Cellular phones practically did not exist in 
 1995;  now we have over 11 million line capacity.   2. The MRT, many of the EDSA flyovers (including the  Ayala Avenue flyover), the SKYWAY, Rockwell and  Glorietta 4, the Fort, NAIA terminal 2 and most  of  the new skyscrapers were not yet built in 1995.   3. If you drive to the provinces, you will notice  that  national roads are now of good quality  (international  quality asphalt roads). I just went to Iba,  Zambales  last week and I was impressed that even a not so  frequently travelled road was of very good  quality.   4. Philippine exports have increased by 600% over  the
  past eight years. There are many, many more  examples  of progress over the last eight years.  Philippine  mangoes are now exported to the US and Europe.   Additional tidbits to make our people prouder:   1. INTEL has been in the Philippines for 28 years.  The Philippines plant is where Intel's most  advanced  products are launched, including the Pentium IV.  By the end of 2002, Philippine operations are  expected to be Intel's biggest assembly and  testing  operations worldwide.   2. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS has been operating in Baguio  for  over 20
 years. The Baguio plant is the largest  producer of DSP chips in the world. DSP chips  are  the brains behind cellphones. TI's Baguio plant  produces the chip that powers 100% of all NOKIA  cellphones and 80% of Erickson cellphones in the  world.   3. TOSHIBA laptops are produced in Santa Rosa,  Laguna.   4. If you drive a BENZ, BMW, or a VOLVO, there is a  good chance that the ABS system in your car was  made  in the Philippines.   5. TREND-MICRO, makers of one of the top anti virus  software PC-Cillin (I may have mispelled this) 
 develops its "cures" for viruses right here in  Eastwood Libis, Quezon City. When a virus  breaks  in any computer system in the world, they try to   find a solution within 45 minutes of finding the  virus.   6. By the end of this year, it is expected that a  majority of the top ten U.S. Call Center firms  in  the U.S. will have set up operations in the  Philippines. This is one area in which I  believe  we are the best in the world in terms of value  for  money.   7. America Online (AOL) has 1,000 people in Clark
  answering 90% of AOL's global e-mail inquiries.   8. PROCTOR  GAMBLE has over 400 people right here  in Makati (average age 23 years) doing back-up  office work to their Asian operations including  finance, accounting, Human Resources and  payments  processing.   9. Among many other things it does for its regional  operations network in the Asia-Pacific region  here  in Manila, CITIBANK also does its global ATM  programming locally.   10. This is the first year ever that the Philippines  will be exporting cars in quantity courtesy of
  FORD Philippines.   11. The government is shedding off graft and  corruption  slowly but surely. This is the first time in  our  history that a former president is in jail and  facing charges of plunder. Despite all odds, we  are  still pursuing the ill-gotten wealth of Marcos  now  enjoyed by his unrepentant heirs.   Next time you travel abroad and meet business  associates  tell them the good news. A big part of our problem  is  perception and one of the biggest battles can be won   simply by believing and by making others believe.   This message is shared by good citizens of

[4c-math94] Volunteer works (To Arvin)

Yung mga clean ups, I remeber sa Mabini, Batangas. Thrice yata. My group also had clean ups and seminars on Solid Waste Mangament in Cavite. We did the clean ups around September, in observation of International Coastal Clean Up.

But we have visited many places... usually medical missions... sa Sapang Palay, Bulacan; sa Pampanga; sa Palawan; sa Kalinga (formerly part of Kalinga - Apayao), sa Naga... I can't remember kung meron pa... we also did Annual Environmental Youth Camps.. I attended four times yata.

Also, since I'm in the insurance / pre-need industry, I think it's my duty to share these concepts / news regardingpre-need companies...
Pre-need companies offer 3 main products:(1) Educational Plan; (2) Pension Plan and (3) Life Plan or Memorial Plan. Educational Plans are usually classified into two: (1) Traditional Eductaion Plans - the ones in troule today and (2) Fixed Vakued Educational Plans.
Traditional Educational Plans – Upon maturity, a pre-need firm pays the tuition of a beneficiary regardless of amount (checks are paid to the school)
Fix Valued Educational Plans - Upon maturity, a pre-need firm pays the beneficiary an agreed amount (checks are paid to the plan holder, not to the school)
So, kung traditional and plan ninyo, there's a chance na may problem, pero not necessarily applicable for all. May ok pa naman. Kung fixed value, probably walang problem. Also President Arroyo mentioned some efforts to save the pre-need industry.. Let's pray, makaahon pa ito...
Anyway, here are some articles you might want to know... baka kasi bumubili na kayo and medto delikado yung company na kausap ninyo:
Pre-need’s Dilemma (by Mary Ann Reyes, Hidden Agenda, April 25, 2005, Philippine Star)
“After 1992 when tuition fee increases were deregulated, many pre-need firms stopped selling open ended (traditional) and instead offered fixed value plans but some continued to do so. For instance, CAP continued to sell open-ended plans from 1992 to 2002 despite the tuition fee increase deregulation… There is rumor in the pre-need industry that Platinum is next… Platinum is dead not dying… There are also rumors that Prudential is next in line but we have yet to confirm the reports. Not all is lost for the pre-need industry however. There are companies that have invested their planholders’ money wisely and have trust fund surpluses…I heard that some of the healthier companies that have put more of the money on trust funds and less on commissions and other expenses are Philam and Loyola… At least 70 percent of the pre-need firms are safe…”

Without any if's and but's, No. 1 na lang (suggestion lang ha!).What's important is what's REALLY NICE, nothing else... except the budget of course. At the end of the day, you'd want to be in a home that's really nice and that you really like and one that you'll be proud of for a very long time . Secondary na ang close to work, return of investment, crime rate, etc.You already know what's REALLY NICE. :-)

  Anyway, ok naman ako right now, nagtrabaho ako uli for extra income... palaki 
nang palaki ang gastos e... pero agent pa rin ako sa umaga... English on-line 
teacher from 2pm to 11pm. Hehehe... halatang tag hirap no?
   
  Di ko nga alam kung makakatagal ako... one week pa lang ako, di ako sanay 
gabihin e... sanay pa nga ako mag-alaga ng bata e...kaya nami-miss ko sila... 
lalo na nung first day ko, kasi pagdating ko, tulog na silang tatlo... besides, 
the job is really new to me... pero subok na rin... excited din naman ako

MANILA, Philippines - Donning face masks to avoid the influenza A(H1N1) virus 
may even make people more susceptible to contracting the disease, medical 
experts said. 

A face mask could even be the breeding ground for a virus if a user is 
careless, Mediadora Saniel, a director of Medical City and the hospital's 
consultant for Infectious Diseases, said on Monday. 

“Once someone coughs or sneezes and the infected droplets stick into the face 
mask, they will remain there. Once the user touches them and puts their hand on 
their mouth or their eyes, there is a higher possibility that they will be 
infected by the disease, said Saniel.

Only medical workers should be using face masks because they know better how to 
properly handle and dispose of them, she added. 

Instead of donning face masks and undertaking any other special measures to 
avoid the influenza A(H1N1) virus, most people only need to exercise “common 
sense, Dr. Alfredo Bengzon, chief executive officer and president of The 
Medical City, said. 

“Common sense such as washing of hands, educating and informing the population 
are key to preventing the spread of the disease, he added. 

Both Bengzon and Saniel said the Department of Health is doing a good job in

Of the nearly 200 cases of the disease in the Philippines , Medical City has 
handled 25 cases of the patients. Most of them have recovered from the “mild 
infection. 

Since the DOH has come out with a directive to hospitals, telling them to send 
home patients who exhibit mild infection, Medical City instructed around 12 to 
13 patients to treat their disease at home. 

“We prescribe medicines for them and we call them up everyday to check on their 
condition, said Saniel.

To be admitted into the hospital for the H1N1 flu, Saniel said a patient must 
be at least 60 years old and has a pre-exisiting condition of heart disease, 
diabetes, or cancer and compromised immune system such as those infected by the 
HIV virus.

Despite authorities’ assurances about the disease’s minimal severity, nobody 
knows for sure if the H1N1 would mutate into a more deadly strain as was the 
case in 1918 when swine flu was first reported, Saniel and Bengzon said. 

“There was a higher number of deaths in the second wave of the swine flu. That 
is why health authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Australia and 
Chile , countries which are in the globe's southern hemisphere. These countries 
are already in their winter season, and they want to find out how the virus 
will react to the cold temperature and if they will mutate to another strain or

MANILA, Philippines – The next time you’re in a taxi passing through Edsa be 
sure that all the doors of the vehicle are locked, especially if you’re caught 
in slow-moving traffic.
The Mandaluyong police issued this warning to the public Tuesday in response to 
a criminal syndicate using young boys to rob cab drivers and their passengers.
Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong police chief, said the modus 
operandi usually involved a pair of youngsters with one distracting the driver 
by knocking on his side of the vehicle while his cohort opened the door on the 
passenger side.
“Since the driver is distracted, the other can filch his earnings [on the 
dashboard] from the other side,” De Sagun said.
The official added that since the thieves were minors, they often would get 
away with the crime and would just be sent to the Department of Social Welfare 
and Development.
In May, operatives of the Mandaluyong police’s Special Operations Group 
arrested two minors – a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy – for allegedly 
staging a “bukas kotse [open car]” heist on Edsa.
The operation was conducted in response to a complaint filed by Jesus Palmos, a 
resident of Makati City, who wrote the police regarding the modus operandi.
The minors later told investigators they were working for two men who were 
arrested in follow-up operations from May 21 to May 22 on Edsa, De Sagun said.
They were identified as Rodolfo Repollo Jr., 21, and Jerry Cordero, 22, both 
suspected members of a criminal gang. They were later released after posting 
bail on theft charges, the police said

New Gmail Phishing Campaign Attempts To Steal Login Credentials
Security researchers from Sunbelt warn of a new wave of spam emails, which 
masquerades as official communications from Google in an attempt to steal login 
credentials from Gmail users.
The fake emails are well formulated and display visual elements associated with 
Web search giant, such as the Google accounts logo or the copyright notice.
The messages purport to originate from the Google Team and read as follows:
“Hello,
Your Google account information is incomplete, We recommend that you update 
your Google account for security reasons.
Download and open the attachment in this mail and follow the direction to 
update your Google account.”
The attached file is an HTML document called Gmail_access.html. Opening it in 
any browser will display a fake page almost identical to the one used to sign 
into Gmail.
In fact the images and other elements present on the rogue page are actually 
loaded from Google’s real website. “If you check the attachment source code you 
can see that it sucks genuine Gmail page elements,” Tom Kelchner, writes on the 
Sunbelt blog.
The fake sign in form sends inputted data to a ServiceLoginAuth.php script 
hosted on an external domain, which stores it for the attackers. “The 
information entered on the bogus page is snatched by a site registered to 
someone in Sremska Kamenica , Serbia ,” Kelchner explains.
However, this seems to be a legit website that has been compromised, as it runs 
an outdated and probably vulnerable version of the e107 content management 
system. This campaign appears to have started sometime at the beginning of this 
month as there are reports about it on the official Gmail help forum dating 
back to September 1.
Fortunately, there’s a simple way for users to always check if they are on the 
real Gmail login page or not, since the website comes with SSL enabled by 
default.
