First you make cake and call it pizza, now you have stuffed pizza? You need
to try some real pizza so you'll understand what's wrong with those items.

On another note, I brought a friend from Vegas to NYC for some authentic NY
pizza and she said it sucked. Not nearly as good as Domino's or Papa
John's.

RE: Serious question

When I lived in Louisiana, that is pretty much what they considered
pizza(great Cajun food...crappy pizza)...I was working at Pizza Hut when I
was in college and they used to let us make a pizza to take home at night.
One night I made a stuffed pizza and they didn't know what to think. I was
like this how you make a real pie!!!

Best pizza i had was at a restaurant/casino out in Vegas. I think the guy

Perhaps it was just the location and the giddy drunkenness of Vegas, but
that singular pie was the best I've yet had.

The crust is OK. It just tastes like cheaply made thin pizza crust.

It's the processed provel cheese that ruins it. Provel is fine
when it's fresh, by itself, and taken in small doses. But processed
down and thrown all over a pizza in the place of genuine
 mozzarella..is
criminal.

Plus St. Louis pizzerias treat sauce like it's a rare commodity.

I believe that the largest Con for Anime is Anime Central, ACEN. It's held
in Chicago every year. I have not been, as I'm not an anime fan, but from
others that are into that sort of thing, I hear that it is pretty
spectacular for them.

Also you may want to check out InterventionCon in Rockville MD at the

Both have big Anime and Manga.

There's also Otacon http://otakon.com/ that's almost a pure Anime festival.

Also check out Anime Nation they have a list of Anime and Manga

For those that don't know (as I didn't) -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis-style_pizza
St. Louis-style pizza is a distinct style of pizza popular in the
Midwestern American city of St. Louis, and surrounding areas. The
definitive characteristics of St. Louis-style pizza are a very thin crust
made without yeast, the common (but not mandatory) use of Provel processed
cheese, and pizzas cut into squares or rectangles instead of wedges.

And you can put me down as agreeing with that comment, G.

The crust is OK. It just tastes like cheaply made thin pizza crust.

It's the processed provel cheese that ruins it. Provel is fine when it's
fresh, by itself, and taken in small doses. But processed down and thrown
all over a pizza in the place of genuine mozzarella..is criminal.

Plus St. Louis pizzerias treat sauce like it's a rare commodity. Sauce my

Yup...cheese is my Achilles heel. There is a place in Westmont, IL...a
western burb of Chicago...called Uncle Pete's Pizza. I usually order a
stuffed spinach and cheese pizza from them. They put so much cheese on it
that when you pull the first slice out, the cheese just oozes out and fills
in the spot where the slice was...yummy...

Re: serious question

2008-11-24 Thread Charlie Griefer
ok well if you really wanted to be serious... :)
no, you shouldn't be subjected to it if you find it annoying or distracting.
i share an office with somebody and i'm always cognizant when playing
music, making sure it's something he doesn't mind listening to (or ideally,
something he actually likes). there have been days that either one of us or
both wear headphones.

in an office, a shared work environment, it's everybody's responsibility to
make sure that everyone else is comfortable and able to focus on what they
need to do.

Re: serious question

2008-11-24 Thread C. Hatton Humphrey
Although football is fun and everything, I don't think that I could work
effectively if it were constantly on

I'm now in an office environment where I'm the only programmer in a
sea of Customer Service folks. They're constantly on the phone and
when they're not, they have music going and it's not that I don't
like their music but after a while I just need to zone and can't
because of the distraction.

For me the solution was a combination of moving locations (after
explaining to my boss and the HR manager what was stopping me from
being productive) and headphones. It hasn't solved the issue 100% but
at least now I don't spend half the day keeping myself from ripping
phones and speakers off desks!

that's a thought... there seems to be a school of thought however that
some people find it hard to concentrate when it's too quiet. I don't
recall ever encountering this before, which is why I am asking for
input on weekends though it is just the two of us and he really
wants to watch it and has been told he can. I suppose the real answer
would be why the hell can't he IM me if he has a question, but since
we are no longer there

Can you suggest they provide, or provide some headphone for the
watcher(s) of the television. I've seen plenty of set ups that allow
for televisions to be heard via private headphones.

Well, that's me, thus the aforementioned headphone radios set to a
mindless music station. I noticed during my high school studies, that
true silence is a distraction for me. But I have to walk a narrow path,
because too 'engaging' of aural content and I pay attention to that
instead of what I should be concentrating.

on weekends though it is just the two of us and he really
wants to watch it and has been told he can.

Then I would think headphones for him would be a good compromise.

Well, the fishporn was fun but can be missed. The tobacco companies thing is an
exercise in employer control over employees and shows some strong ideals on
peoples parts (i.e. mine). The iMS thing is important if your running a CFUG and
as usual for anything dealing with mail, segwayed into spam fighting. (I showed
the beta of my spam-watch debug).

OK, I have been gone all day on a fairly annoying excursion through other
people's priorities. It looks like the list has had a (cough) interesting
day. Fish Porn? American Hero meets the tobacco companies? LOL. If I delete
all this stuff will I have missed anything?
