Re: Change color of menubar and docking area
is a bit Off-topic but I would love to see some of the toolbars gain better costumizability by dragging to other regions. I still don't know which one of the commands I replaced applies to writer, granted I can figure this out through trial and error, but i'm not sure where in the code I would add in the new shortcuts. Then the big question is what should the shortcut keys be to increase and decrease font size in Writer?

Google Summer of Code for Apache OpenOffice
Hi seems Google Summer of Code is in high peak nowadays, but I think if we are willing to get some help we need to promote the program. I think a good blogpost could be a good first step. Maybe some articles could follow up and get the ball rolling. At this moment I know we dont have any tasks that students can do but I think a good think tank could get us to where we want to go. A few month back there was a discussion about OpenOffice 5.0. Imacat also was on a office suite (or spreadsheet) thinktank. These ideas could become small projects for us. Last year there was a CMIS project for AOO, I am not sure if it was finished succesfully but would be good to hear the stories on what followed up and some lessons learned. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Re: Need to integrate OpenOffice writer in java project
You can use the AOO engine as a service which allows you to do this on a browser. The efforts to embed AOO in a Jar are usually very slow, and not really as reliable. Using webservices that consume OpenDocument format are also a good way to approach this. But the UI needs to be builted. Here is an indepth tutorial to use Dojo (a similar library to JQuery) to build web based user interface while at the same time use AOO as the engine for the calculations etc. http://www.javaworld.com/article/2077861/open-source-tools/web-based-spreadsheets-with-openoffice-org-and-dojo.html There are other projects that are more free to do a wiki like: www-at-odf. https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/ODF@WWW And other webproducts that use/read ODF: http://webodf.org/ Also: On Fri, Mar 13, 2015 at 5:24 PM, Pedro Giffuni p...@apache.org wrote: Helo Sharoon; It sound like Apache POI would satisfy your requirement: http://poi.apache.org/ Regards, Pedro. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org -- Alexandro Colorado Apache OpenOffice Contributor 882C 4389 3C27 E8DF 41B9 5C4C 1DB7 9D1C 7F4C 2614 - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

I would like to update the wiki theme to the one that we use on the homepage. ATM the wiki theme uses the very old OpenOffice.org, we are going 4-5 years in Apache and still have the same look and feel. I would like to get a new theme on the wiki for current style. Did you find the sources you need, otherwise drop me an email, and I will copy it to you directly. First step should be to 'create' a theme that can be hacked and tested. Then change it to the default by the wiki admin. The old wiki would still be available and enabled by users that preffer the old one, but new theme could become the default once reaching a functional style. I am not soo keen to have multiple themes active on our production wiki, I spent quite some time removing all other themes than the AOO one. Having multiple themes gives 2 problems: - a security problem, if we are not very careful (I will not detail this) - a graphic layout problem, it turns out our setup is very sensitive to small changes like another font, and some of the pages tilt when you do that. You should also be aware that in order to keep our current theme running, I needed to patch some of the core code of mediawiki, it would be nice if a new them could avoid that. I suggest you make yourself a test instance of mediawiki (I can provide what you need of setup info, incl. a dump of the SQL), develop your theme, once you have it, make a couple of screenshot and get acceptance in here. Once it is accepted I am happy to take it, verify it, and install it on the production system. Sounds like a plan to you ? Well that's an issue since like you specify this code is not 'generic' so I wont have details of what it needs to be applied to the production wiki. Well you do need a test installation anyway, where you test your code. I would rather access a snapshot, or a duplicated VM temporarily until the work is done. However the development would be done in a closed fashion which is not the ideal scenario. Infra cannot provide a temporary VM just for this purpose, making that would include DNS, LDAP, Puppet so at least the work of a little day. I can (as I already suggested) provide you a SQL dump. I can also dump the application, allthough it will most likely not run on your vm, due to dependencies of a number of other programs. May I suggest, that you make a naked installation of mediawiki somewhere, build the theme, and let me put it on production. There are basically no need to have our pretty complex production environment just to make a new theme. Last time I worked with the theme, I did it exactly like that. Also would be nice if you could detailed the most obvious pitfalls to know how to get around it. The reason why you need to change code is mainly because Monowiki theme also suffered version changes, and our original theme was based of an older version of the monowiki theme. This scenario is kind of unaviodable, unless is started from scratch. You might be right about the version changes, but I am not convinced, since I had the same problems when I tried to update the theme code. I cannot detail the pitfalls for 2 good reasons: - I have forgotten most of what I did (it is in svn) and why I did it - Most of the things I simply did with try-test methods, I tried at that time not to understand too much of why the theme was so mega complex. I think we would benefit from a clean theme based on the newest version. Re: Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice Wiki
This technica information is usually on our wiki, however what you are asking is a bit too specific. I think you should provide a sample document with large set of unicode to be able to test it. AOO uses the IBM developed ICU4C (International Component for Unicode), more information here: https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/ICU Looking on our Issue trackers, I couldnt find any issues related with large sets. Is a rough estimate and yeah 100g will be a good 4 to 8 days. But a, I don't think it will come to 100g and b, the process will be between servers so it shouldn't be an issue. I could rent a vps with 100g for 4 days but then it would need additionally 4 more days to transfer to apache. If I put it on my lame dsl it might take 10x more. Yes, it would be good to preserve the old links, but preserving knowledge is better. So if we can get the dump and files from Ed we can setup the forum at Apache and give it a new URL. wget doesnt preserve the links but do an html copy of the old website, basically what you are asking from Ed. The thing is that anyone can do this, using a simple: wget -m (mirror) oooforum.org. Of course oooforum.org currently gives you a godaddy page. My original question was if there was a follow up after your request? Everything else is pure speculation until then, so let's not start to waste time discussing the required disk space and bandwidth until we are sure that the data transfer can actually happen. And no, wget is not an option, we want the full database and files, so that we will be able to reinstall the forum at a new URL and then proceed as we will agree. I did a scrape of the pages, and it is about 8GB last time I did it. Off hand, I expect that a huge chunk of that is SPAM, especially since most of the SPAMS have large graphics included. I considered writing a PERL script to clean that based on certain search criteria, but, it just feels like a huge annoyance to spend hours removing posts and then trolling the rest of the files to rearrange all of the links so that things continue to function. I know this is not the best list to talk about this since, well, is more of an Apache thing than OpenOffice. However Mozilla Foundation just partner with Coinbase to take bitcoin donations. Wonder if this could be an idea that could pick up with the Apache Foundation. Bitcoin is the most prevalent cryptocurrency out there, and would be interesting to have the venue to acquire them. I'm still lost when it comes to bulk formatting changes in Impress. The command line way is simple/direct: 1) Unzip the ODP file to disk 2) Look for any large image files 3) Load the large image files into an editor and reduce resolution/color depth, increase compression, whatever you need to do to make it smaller. I would recommend using vectors like SVG or indexed PNG instead. If you want to keep it ODF-like, maybe do the design on ODG. 4) Save image file back to same name/same directory. 5) Zip up the directory, renaming it to and *.odp extension if needed. AFAIK there are issues with zipping an ODF file. I remember this was reported on some ODF blog since the way WinZip ad other programs zip by default is not 'standard' with ODF editors. Might need to google it again, but it just jump into mind. ODF files are just ZIP archives containing XML + binary resources like images. So they are very hackable from the command line, once you unzip them. what would be a good requirement, I dont think AOO has escalate it's memory demand since 3.0. I think performance still more or less the same. But feel free to run some benchmarks. I am sure a Virtualmachine can emulate 512 environments. My Netbook (512 MB) ran AOO 4.0 decently, I dont think it would have been that different with 256 RAM. I think a friend also has a RaspberryPi (512 MB) and run AOO decently, is not the fastest but is workable. Re: Apache OpenOffice SDK for FreeBSD
I agree, also some of the native distros builds need help: Ubuntu: https://launchpad.net/~apacheopenoffice Arch: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/openoffice/ Debian: http://sourceforge.net/projects/apacheoo-deb/files/debian/ Fedora: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ApacheOpenOffice On 11/3/14, Andrea Pescetti pesce...@apache.org wrote: Pedro Giffuni wrote: While preparing my talk for ApacheConEU, I noticed there is no SDK for FreeBSD so I rolled my own: http://people.apache.org/~pfg/files/Apache_OpenOffice-SDK_4.1.1_FreeBSD_x86-64_install_en-US.tbz This for FreeBSD 10.1-PRERELEASE amd64. Re: EMBEDDING YOUTUBE INTO IMPRESS
That said maybe is a good conversation to have. JMF was a broken solution from is inception by having a deprecated product plugged into AOO for political reasons because Sun needed to find a Java solution. Novell replace this in Go-oo with gstreamer, however other engines like libvlc or maybe more licence compatible solutiosn can work at the moment. Not to mention JMF license might be incompatible atm. Probably a feature to consider for 5.0. On Thu, Oct 30, 2014 at 2:03 AM, FR web forum ooofo...@free.fr wrote: Don't anonying developer team with end-user problem. I have gone to the Oracle site installed jmf software. Now for some reason I still can't get the video to embed in the presentation... I added a sample video from the library that comes with Windows 7 32bit, so I know it can be done but, a video embedded from YouTube Is it possible how is it done? I am contacting you because I am an OpenOffice user and think it is a very interesting project. I would like to know if some OpenOffice collaborator would be kind enough to answer the questions found below. I shall be pleased to receive your answers but if you do not want to, I would also appreciate to know it. Yours sincerely, Antonio Cepero Can you state your name, the open source project you collaborate with and the tasks you perform? How long have you been involved with the project? What were the main reasons that led you to participate in it? Had you worked on other projects (FOSS) prior to engaging in this? What experience led to this collaboration? Do you currently collaborate with other free software projects? What? What work done? What is your training and experience? Have you worked on projects that are not open source? What influence has had or you think may have this collaboration in your professional future? oooforum status?
The conversation kinda went away and wonder what was the resolution about the oooforum and if there is any hope to recover the database at least to get some kind of plain browsable dump of the content.
