Is the MP3 an USB card or pci? I'm using a westinghouse lcd and an external soundblaster audigy 2nx USB soundcard, and sata hard drives. I put the cd in my old computer and everything works ok. Watching the bootup I think either the sata drives and/or the usb audio card are not being detected

The SB MP3+ is a standard bus card, not an external one. Been around for many years. Seems like with MEPIS I had to manually select the nv drivers when I was running on the HP AMD box. No other version of Linux could do this so far. SUSE has a good selection of video monitors but it apparently

The nv driver is a generic open source software and give people fits. Try the nvidia site for their linux driver. The nvidia module and nv are two separate pieces of software. I had to set my monitor to vesa with the nv driver in order to get it to work, and not very well. With the nvidia

The soundcard isn't detected at boot. I tried running the sound setup both from the desktop and from the system menu, but it doesn't detect the external usb card either! On the old computer it found the 1371 pci card, the mboard sound, and a couple of other sound devices I didn't even recognize.
