I was able to duplicate the DX4WIN Data Updater problem on a Windows
XP SP2 system, where it always wants to update the updater program.
After upgrading to Service Pack 3, the problem remained. There are
still 98+ more Microsoft updates to download and install.

Good news:
I pulled out my laptop running Windows XP which is fully up-to-date on
fixes and I can duplicate the problem there too.
Bad news:
The fix I tried, which makes the program work on Windows XP, does NOT
work on Windows 7.
1. If you have the update problem, were you running Windows XP

what the problem has been. I haven't run the updater since December I

I just ran it. It says I have version 4.6 and said I have the latest
version. It proceeded to update 7 files. Checking my Save directory it
I am having the problem running under Vista. I do have the update problem every

need to test it when I get home. I'll try to release the new updater
some time tonight (Friday UTC).
If your .MAS1 file keeps updating over and over again, that's the same

Everyone should download this release! If you have version 4.6
already, just run the updater. If you have an older version, remember
that after downloading the update, copy DX4WUPD.EXE from the
