I have K2 # 5334 up and running after completing the alignment stages today.
I actually had the thing finished a week ago, but had managed to install U4
backwards on the RF Board, so have been patiently waiting for a new chip to
arrive from Elecraft.
I should be happy with one mistake,
Rich W3ACO is right. K2 or K1 might need sometimes vitamine.
3 or 6dB is not enough. 20dB is.

The Polar Bear are heading out this Friday, 10 Feb. 2006 for our Moonlight
Madness Run.
The actual Full Moon is on 12 Feb. 2006, Sunday. Due the major contest on
this weekend we are going out on Friday night. This way it might be a little

Additionally, newer production K2s also include back-to-back diodes
(1N4148) across the RX antenna input, actually across pins 4 6 of
U12 on the RF board. These diodes do a great job of protecting the K2
from very strong nearby transmitters.
I'd doubt that you might need too much more.
When
Just to be clear on one point: the K2 *does not* switch any relays
between transmit and receive. T/R switching is always done using PIN
diodes.
When you enable the receive antenna (RANT ON), you're simply routing
the receive antenna -- rather than the main antenna -- to the receiver.

input - the input path is through D3 and D4 in the T/R switch, and both are
back biased with the 8T signal during transmit - so as long as the peak
signal on the receive antenna is less than the bias voltage on the diodes
