Hello Richard,
In terms of lessen operation fatigue, KDSP2 is good. Compared with modern DSP
rigs, the noise reduction is just basic though workable. For the amount spent
for KDSP2, in my opinion, I don't think it is not value for money because I
need it good in both CW and SSB.
I once
Your opinion is valued.
I recently completed my K2. And was thinking of adding DSP.
As a CW op only, would the KDSP2 be a good addition?
Best regards

Dick,
I own both, the analog filter and the DSP filter. In my opineon the analog
filter sounds much better than the DSP Filter on
Dick - I agree with Chris, for CW-only operation the KAF2 filter would
be a better option than the KDSP2.

FYI - At C6APR, for the IOTA test, we had times when the rig would not
unkey after sending either a CW file or a wave file. Upping the K3 and
N1MM Logger baud rate to 38000 from 4800 solved the problems. We were
using two K3s and the stock Elecraft USB cables.
BTW - The K3 is a great DXpediton
Don,
I have checked what you advised.
But envrything looks fine.
I don't believe that Q9 itself is something wromg.
Thank you,

Just a fun note:
I got this little circuit in the mail yesterday and put it together last
night.
Its pretty cool, but lacks AGC in the front-end for serious use.
It comes with a gain pot and it really does find zero-beat well.
For kicks I might add AGC to it to see how effectual it might be.
Had the two knobs split on the AF shaft of my K3- serial # 758 last Friday.
Sent a note to Elecraft Parts, had an email back Saturday and the two new knobs
arrived in Michigan today, Wednesday the 29th.
One more example of OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE from the gang in Aptos...

Hideki,
The only other thing that could be wrong is high resistance between the
drain of Q9 and the center of the RCA jack. Check both those places for
good soldering.
Look at the schematic and you will see the circuit is dead simple. Q9
has its source connected to ground, and the gate is

If I ever get the second K2, which may happen soon, it will definitely
have a KDSP2.
I don't know how you interpret 4 to 3 Dick, but I'd call it a
'non-decision'. That's how it's been among the user comments since the KDSP2
was introduced several years ago.
For some it's great. For others it's unnecessary.
From what I can make out reading the posts over the past years, it
I might as well weigh in, too :-)
Disclaimer: I have a pecuniary interest in the KDSP2!
One nice feature of the KDSP2 is if you set the bandwidth of the K2 to
wide, and tune to an area of a band that is normally active when there
is activity at all.
The NR function then acts like a smart
I would really appreciate help on getting the HRD DM780 interfaced with my
K3. I have a EMU 0202 sound card and decoding CW from the radio is fine. I
would like to get some help in getting the DM780 to send CW via the K3. I am
sure I have missed something real basic.

I received my machined concentric knobs today from Mouser, and as promised,
I would write back to the group with my findings. First of all, the knobs
are incredibly well made and appear to be anodized black. There is a fat,
white, indicator stripe on the barrel. There are also two set screws.
Use the K3 Config Utility software.

Hi:
Hello David,
I would agree with you and had in fact sold my KDSP2 without any regret. With
A/B side-by-side comparison with my other DSP rigs, Noise Reduction NR of KDSP2
is just average and nothing outstanding. I experimented various settings of
the KDSP2 as suggested by the Group.
Any way you can post some pictures?

Here are two pictures. I left the bottom RF knob off to give you an idea of
how well the larger concentric knob slides onto the encoder shaft. It's
perfect; no looseness or wiggling.

The word is inexpensive... not cheap! Those look really nice! I was
just sitting here wondering if there was a knob that would fit over the
shift, width, speed, and pwr knobs. I'm not so sure I'd want to mess w/
them too much though as I'd not want the spacing between them to get too
terribly
I also wonder how much weight they add.

Hi John,
The K3's knobs were custom-designed (by me). They match, too :) So
the thought of using knobs from another vendor on a K3 is a bit
painful
It's true that our knob manufacturer used the wrong material for one
early batch of the dual concentrics. But we caught most of them,
I loaded the beta firmware 3.23 mainly to get the 10 Hz tuning on the pass
band. It is very smooth and really moves the K3 up another notch on the way
to perfection. OK, I guess I'm letting the mojo get to me. ;-)
I read a post a couple of days before I loaded 3.23 saying that the pass
