The asterisk tells Fvwm to save up the module config commands,
not parse them. It then sends out the commands to a module
when the module asks for them.
There's more to it than what I just described.

Fvwm95 is a fork. My advice is to use Fvwm instead. Fvwm does a good

Then operate a menu.

I just got notice that Java bug 4401846 is closed.
This is the bug with Java window placement.
