It should be mentioned that if you use this method then, after running parted to resize the partition(s), you will also need to resize the filesystem(s) on the partition(s). If I remember correctly, you're right and the resize of he filesystem required. Of course if you shrink the partition,

I might chime in, that I once deleted an important 90 GB partition by mistake, when a Ubuntu install had shuffled drive assignments. Ubuntu had assigned the formerly /dev/hda1 to /dev/sda1, and former /dev/sda1 to /dev/sda2. Ubuntu used UUIDs. That is an approach that works, once I learned how

I hadn't done a full reinstall for a good while, long enough that I missed out on whateve was said about the change over from using /etc/X11/xorg.conf to control the X display to whatever does it now. So my first question is what does do it?.. I have a nice desktop but no /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
