It suddenly wants the kdrive use flag enabled for xorg-server and

so its not appropriate for a system I want full functionality on - is

Hi,
this might well we a FAQ but I couldn't find it.
In the process of upgrading to xorg-server-1.8.2 I'd like to remove
the 'hal' use flag.
I have removed it in /etc/make.conf and added

Brilliant. After tweaking a few of the pressure settings, my touchpad
works great! The hard part is remembering to restart hald as well as
the X server whenever you make

I ask for (3), because if you have the `systemd` OR `elogind` flags set on your
X server package, `--enable-systemd-login` will be passed to the configure

finished in a couple of hours do I need to change the xorg.conf file

There's a pretty big chance that 8.28 is so old that it does not support
xorg-server 1.5 at all. That means you can't use xorg-server 1.5. And if

First of all, I currently do have a functioning xorg server; but not sure if it
is working as well as it should, based on the reported errors. Does anyone know
what are the libXxf86dga libXxf86vm libraries as compared to the proto
variety? They seem to be the offending packages pulled

I install modular X from the meta packages (emerge xorg-x11 x11) and in
the list is xdm already there.
I really don't know... and each try need a lot of time (each time that x

Hi all,
I am new to Gentoo.
I finally managed to set up xorg on my system, fluxbox is running,
but whenever I want to terminate the X-Server, the screen is not
receiving any signal anymore. The only chance to get a commandline
back or to get the server running again is to restart the pc
The xorg-server upgrade and the libxcb upgrade go together as pair.
You need to upgrade the server now -- carefully following the upgrade
guide, please.
Thanks - I will do that. But the upgrade guide doesn't have anything
in it, except how to enable Ctrl-Alt-Bkspc to kill the server...

So the file is there and owned by xorg-server which is in the list to

I'm trying a kernel rebuild and will reinstall modules, reboot, etc.
What do you hope to achieve with that? OpenGL runs
Google says the error can be due to disabling dri in xorg.conf, but I
don't have anything like that. Should CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU=y include
the dri or dri2 module?
The dri and dri2 modules should be installed by x11-base/xorg-server.
I've got all of these:
/usr/lib64/opengl/xorg-x11
