Hi,
I have installed GNUDIP in my Redhat Linux box, and everything is
working fine. However, there is a function for user called Forward URL, i
found it seems not working, how can i make it work?
I have typed URL correctly in it, but don't know why it does
work out.
example:
I suspect you are misunderstanding what Forward URL means for GnuDIP.
The value specified for the Forward URL text entry item on the Current
Settings page is used in conjunction with the Set Auto URL button on the
User Options page. These two items together allow you to configure your
browser to

Do you really mean to have a space in the file name
/usr/local/gnudip/etc/ Kgnudip-key.+157+64991.private? Before the K?
...yeah...I had a space theresorry, now works fine!
With the space there, nsupdate is attempting to use

Hi there,
Let's say my gnudip-2.3.5 manages dynamic updating of 2 domains, and right now each domain has a bunch of user accounts all of which can only view and modify their own settings and current IP.
My question ison one of the domains, can I make a user account such that this user

Hello all,
I have recently set up the gnudip-2.3.5 package on a Linux 8 machine with BIND 9. I have checked with nsupdate that the dynamic updating works and I have a .jnl file for my one and only domain
When I send the 'ping ns1.mydomain.com', it works fine.
When I send the 'ping test1.mydomain.com', it returns:
ping: unknown host test1.mydomain.com
The below is the result of 'dig mydomain.com. soa'

Thank you for your links.
Checking my domain at www.DNSstuff.com, and when i do hostname lookup tests,
I discovered that when the DNS search goes to the primary Nameserver (my
GNUDip server), it finds my hostname properly. But, if by chance it goes to
my secondary Nameserver, which is from my

The idea is for you change the registration of mydomain.com so that

Hi all,
I am using GnuDIP2 (2.3.5) on Linux behind a NAT-Router (Asus WL-500g).
It is updateing the IP-Adress every time it has to check, because the
UDP-packet for address verfication is timed out.
I used the following command to get it working: ./gdipc -g : the
result is:
It apears that in the example you give, the old address was
80.132.208.18, and the new address was 80.132.199.241.
So the UDP packet should would been sent to 80.132.208.18, and would not
have been received since the address of your router was now 80.132.199.241.
If the client was just failing
I have played with this some more.
It appears that the TCP stack in Linux 2.4.x and in Windows XP (and so
perhaps this is actually part of a standard?) ignore packets coming in
on an ethernet interface for which the source address and destination
address is the address associated with the
Sorry for that wrong example. I made sure, that the address did not
changed between two launches of gdipc.
Update to address 80.132.199.241 from 80.132.208.18 successful for
itzel.nerdcamp.net
I would not be able to receive a UDP-Packet on port when the
address changes.

Hi,
Have you tried to do updates via the web-client?
Also, can you check to see if there are any nsupdate errors in syslog?
Cheers,

Hi,
The reason I asked about the web interface, was whether that part was
working at all, in case there was a problem with how it was configured.
Have a look in your minidip.conf, and it will show you the nsupdate
command that it is trying to use, perhaps this has been incorrectly
Hi Damien Again, and again!

Hi Damien,
Makes perfect sense I think I'm also going to run a test on a local box
without critical dns zone data first and see how it interacts, thanks for
the information.
Kind Regards,

So who is in charge of gnudip2 now?
It's pretty much without a maintainer right now. I've got some changes
I'd like to incorporate (including an expansion of the protocol), but
haven't had the time to do so (and will only do so if the source code
remains in perl as it is now. I say that
