We just installed z/VM 5.3. We have 2 systems running. VM1 and VM2.
Right now, all of our Linux guests (about 5) are on VM1. They also have
a directory entry on VM2 (but password set to NOLOG).

We're running z/VM 5.3. On our system, we use VM1RES, VM1SPL, and VM1PGx
as our volsers.
Now, I know that when migrating to z/VM 5.4, I'll end up with 540RES,
540SPL, etc.
What do other shops do regarding volsers when migrating? We have 2
z/VM systems (all running z/Linux guests).

I ran into a similar problem. Seems like the disk you are DETERSEing to
is out of space.I think MAINT's 500 minidisk is only 600 cylinders and
it may not be enough.

Got a call from one of our operators over the weekend. Apparently one
of our linux machines failed to start.
So, looking at the log, I see the guest machine went into a disabled wait
state.

It seems, that a 64bit kernel was ipled in an 31 bit system.

Checking to see if this was done, he issued DIRM FOR ONGWW02 REV and got

Your NICDEF should be connected to VMT1VSW0 not VMT1LN01.
