Hi Kolbjørn,

themes, a question like that should be posted on a user mailing list,

Thank you for your answer.

You are right. My mail was meant for the libreoffice-user list. Sorry
for my miss.

I will try your suggestions tomorrow.

Kolbjørn

But I will answer here now.
I have created forms the way you did many times, without any problems.
I just tried it with LibO 7.5.2.1 on Windows 10, it worked as it
should. I have no idea what is wrong in your case. So I have only some
proposals which might help:

 * Did you close the form window and  open it again not using the menu
item "open", but "edit" (or something similar, I'm translating the
   German texts)?
 * Did you try closing the Base document completely (i.e. also the .odb
file) and then opening this one and then the form document (in edit
   mode)?
 * Try creating another form, to see whether the problems happens
again. (you can simply delete the erroneous form, if you wish to)
 * If you used HSQLDB or local Firebird to create the database, you can
send me the .odb file (directly (or a cloud link), no attachments
are transported in the mailing list), and I can have a look at it. I
assume it contains no sensible data.

I am able to add data to the form, save it and then load it with the

Is there any (simple) way to activate the tools in the toolbar?

Perhaps a label and the next label? Or something else?

Ok, but still confused.

The strings are commands in the programming language Logo.

The "|" in this case means "or".
To move the turtle forward 100 pixels (or what) you can in English use
the command "forward 100" or the command "fd 100".

In Spanish the translator(s) have chosen to use 4 commands to do the
same thing.

In Norwegian nynorsk (nn) I have added the English command "forward" to
make it possible to use this word in addition to the commands in Norwegian.

By using more than one command for the same function, the LibreOffice
Logo is more compatible to other Logo versions.

Kolbjørn

Let's take the string tFoAo; why has the Spanish version 4 variants ?

(en) forward|fd
(de) vor|vr
(es) avanza|adelante|av|ad
(fr) avance|av
(it) forward|fd

Or, string BEiyw; why has the Spanish version added 2 more variants ?

(en) home
(de) anfang
(es) inicio|casa|centro
(fr) origine
(it) home

etc.

[libreoffice-l10n] Word Joiner explanation

2021-05-16 Thread Kolbjørn Stuestøl

In Help Master, Word Joiner is explained as follows:

Inserts an invisible space within a word that will keep the word
together at the end of a line. Available when complex text layout
   (CTL) is enabled.

But as far as I understand what Word Joiner (Unicode U-2060) does, no
space is inserted here. Maybe a better solution is

Inserts an invisible /character/ within a word that will keep the
word together at the end of a line. Available when complex text
   layout (CTL) is enabled.

Replace "space" with "character" or something?

If anyone wants me to make a localised version, just post your

Note that the English uses nouns, and the German version adjectives, so

main goal is to show those three focal points of the release!

[libreoffice-l10n] Where do I find a link to the Weblate site?

2019-11-19 Thread Kolbjørn Stuestøl
I myself know the link to "https://weblate.documentfoundation.org/; but
if I didn't, where do I get the link? How can a new translator find it?
LibreOffice is not listed in Project list in Weblate as far as I could
find out.

If you are in the components view for all languages, e. g. LibreOffice
UI - master, and you go to the Search Menu, you will see the Search
form without language select boxes.

If you are in the components view of a certain language, e.
LibreOffice UI - master Norwegian Nynorsk, and you go to the Search

Moreover, if you are in the components view for all languages, you

Hi Kolbjørn,

use "Substring" as Search type in the search form. Use Source strings

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] "Show change authorship in tooltips" (for attention of da, de, eo, is, nl, nn, ru teams at least)

2018-07-16 Thread Kolbjørn Stuestøl

Thank you a lot.
I have corrected it (nn).

Kolbjørn

Den 15.07.2018 23:25, skreiv Mihkel Tõnnov:

Hi,

It seems the string "Show change authorship in tooltips" in 6.1 branch and
master (Key-ID EitKc) has been misunderstood by several translation teams.
Unless I am very much mistaken, the string is supposed to mean "show
authors of [tracked] changes in tooltips", not "show change of authorship
in tooltips" as currently translated in:
da: Vis ændring af forfatterskab i bobletekst
de: Wechsel der Autorschaft in Hilfetexten anzeigen
eo: Vidigi aŭtoran ŝanĝon per ŝpruchelpilo
is: Sýna breytingar á höfundum í vísbendingum verkfæra
nl: Wijziging van auteur in helpteksten weergeven
nn: Vis endring av forfattar i hjelpebobler
ru: Показывать изменение авторства в подсказках

Other languages might also be concerned, since I only checked the ones I
can understand at least somewhat.
These seem OK though: es, fr, it, pt, pt-BR.

For Danish, German, Icelandic, and Norwegian Nynorsk, it think it should go
like this (a bit unsure about de & is):
Vis forfatter af ændringer i bobletekst
Autor der Änderungen in Hilfetexten anzeigen
Sýna höfund af breytingum í vísbendingum verkfæra
Vis forfattar til endringar i hjelpebobler
For the other languages pointed out above, I am not able to propose a
better translation, but I'm quite sure the current ones are wrong :)

Maybe the original should be changed as well, in order to avoid further
confusion.

Regards,
Mihkel
Estonian team

If you received such an automated email, it means that there was a

Norway is a small country but we have two main languages, bokmål (nb)

In addition to what already was told, for Portuguese is even worse because
Slide is male and Page is female.

Now imagine how awful the string 'New Slide/Page' will be considering that
'New' can be also male and female depending on the noun of the string.

In my experience, it shows up when my (unstable) connection drops. In
those cases I just press Ctrl+Enter to submit the translation again.
If the Pootle web application has other reasons to show that message,
well, it is being very cryptic about it.

I have now tried it with different connections. Same message.
Also the "Critical errors:" and "Hatch out for:" works as expected.
So I vote for the cryptic version :-)

Hi,

These terms refer to shapes which are drawn by obsolete methods. The new
way to draw rectangle and ellipse is to draw them as custom shapes. The old
methods produced draw:rect and draw:ellipse in ODF.

Thank you to you and Martin.
I think I continue working on master hoping it will be converted to 5.0. :-)
Btw: I likes the new Pootle as I am getting used to it.

So if you currently have a login on the current Pootle server please try
login on the new one. We expect some problems and we'd like to fix
then on

the current Pootle server if possible first.

Note:

1. Require email validation - the new server requires email
validation,

we'd like to know that that works correctly.
2. Only one email - you can only have one account linked to one
email
address in our current setup. If you have duplicates we'd like
to clean

those up in the old server.

So please one last round of testing to exercise the login system.

Login system worked correctly for me.

Ciao
My login on both the old and the new Pootle server works as expected. No

The quotes check will not prevent you from submitting a unit. It is simply

those relate will be Placeables and XML related.

Yes, I understand.

I realise we're exposing stylistic checks but showing them in red, I'll see

[libreoffice-l10n] New Pootle Invalid XML

The text … new style of footnotes with ref and references tags that

IMHO it's easier to mark it as false positive in Pootle. There are
only a few of them in case of 'Invalid XML' check. Every string change
causes 100x work for 100x languages, not to mention engineer's time.

You are right. I thought that lt; and gt; perhaps is a valid code for

Of course, there are more important tasks than this one.

[libreoffice-l10n] New Pootle Similar translations error

2015-05-31 Thread Kolbjørn Stuestøl
When copying from Similar translations the new line code (\n) is not
shown in the input box where I write my translations. Error messages:
Number of sentences; Newline.
But when clicking on the next line to be translated the \n is visible in
the translated text above the input box. Clicking on this text for
translating again, the \n is gone. Not even a space to replace it. Error
messages: Number of sentences; Newline.
It is no problem inserting the missing \n by hand, but I think this is
an undesirable behavior.

Example:
Unit #31201128.
English:
The selected filter $(FILTER) is not included in your edition.\n
You can find information about orders on our homepage.

Similar translation:
Det valde filteret $(FILTER) er ikkje med i den utgåva du brukar.\n
Du finn informasjon om bestilling på heimesida vår.

Input box after copying:
Det valde filteret $(FILTER) er ikkje med i den utgåva du brukar.
Du finn informasjon om bestilling på heimesida vår.

Translated: As in Similar translation.

Input box, translating again:
Det valde filteret $(FILTER) er ikkje med i den utgåva du brukar.Du
finn informasjon om bestilling på heimesida vår.

Unfortunately there is no unified placeholder style across the whole

Is there a way to tell Pootle that [Runtime] and other words in square

Or perhaps that $[Officename] and %PRODUCTNAME are the only ones?

I do know nothing about programming Pootle so perhaps this is silly

Ideally, please point to a specific unit, you can get the permalink
from the unit number at the end of the breadcrumbs for the unit you
are editing.

Sorry, wasn't aware of that. But in this case it applies to all units.

Also note. The checks have not changed. The editor has changed in
that it prevents a Critical failure from being submitted to Pootle.
The logic is that we want to stop breakages much much earlier in the
process.

Now the check is right (the check is also dumb). There is no emph
in the source, so it assume that you've likely broken something. Its
XML and thus its risky.

Because you know better you can click on the Mute symbol. The small
(-) after the check name. If a check is muted it means you've
signaled that it is a false positive and Pootle should ignore it for
that unit.
Wasn't aware of this either. Thought it was a warning sign or something
:-). Thank you.

If I insert the quotation marks « and » ( instead of the and ),
press Send and then open it again, it is opened with the error
message Double quotes and the Send button is grayed out.

So quote are not critical. Pootle has actually accepted the unit but
warned that your quotes are different.

Which raises another issue. We build rules for languages to take into
consideration their specific quoting styles. This reduces false
positives on quotes.

If you can let me know for nn what the quoting style is then I can add
that.
For Norwegian bokmål (language code nb) and nynorsk (nn) the recommended
quotes are

At start « (Unicode hex 00AB); at end » (Unicode hex 00BB).
I do not think we needs the quote in quote characters neither the quotes

Translating Print Statement [Runtime] to Print-uttrykk
[køyretid] returns the error Placeholders. Inserting the
original text into my translation using the + button or by copy

Print-uttrykk [Rundtime] it is accepted, but Print-uttrykk or,
as mentioned above, Print-uttrykk [køyretid] is not. Error
message: Placeholders.

Yip false positive again.

I need some help here. For OpenOffice.org [XXX] was used as a
variable in some files. With the change to use PO directly in
LibreOffice I'm not sure if that has changed. In fact if someone has
an idea of the correct variable styles for LO across the project I can
likely remove some redundant ones.

Tried on LibreOffice 4.4 - Help. Windows 7. Norwegian nynorsk (nn)
translation.

Thanks for the testing.

thank you very much :)

There is an Export View button at the bottom
of the Translate page. If I click on it I got:
Server Error An error has occurred. Thank you
for your patience. 'NoneType' object is not
iterable If you need assistance, you may refer
to this error as

213da8cec20a4507b46a6e76cf213d72$0c2cdd2c31244f750e58dbf6d50e553b.

I cannot confirm this with Firefox 29.0a2
(2014-03-15) under Debian Testing i686 ... Maybe
someone has fixed it in the meantime? Though I
have to say, that I needed to wait two or three
minutes, until the page has loaded ... :(

Workes fine, but a bit slow as you mentioned, using
Opera and Firefox on Windows 7. Btw I have never used
this tag before.

me neither ... ;) Thanks for testing and have a nice
afternoon

Ok, it works fine too with Firefox under Ubuntu and the error
seems to only appear with Chrome. Thanks a lot for you
feedback! Cheers Sophie

FYI: database performance is really bad after conversion, so did
optimize the table to make it somewhat usable.

Not as fast as it should be, but workable.

Yes, it works. Thanks. Hoping Pootle is stable now.
I like that the side is grayed out when data is transferred to tell me
that something is going on.

And another yes: it could be a bit faster.

So what is the next step?

Hi all

Again, testing Pootle, anytime I want to display the translate page, I
got a freeze of the page. Do you experience the same?
Cheers
Sophie

Yes.
Yesterday it worked nearly as I expected, but today very little happens.
My browser gets in contact with the site, but mostly nothing more
happens than displaying the header and the footer and the message
Waiting for translations.documentfoundation.org/…. :-(

Using Opera and Firefox on both Windows 7 and 8.
http://www.documentfoundation.org opens fine if that matters.
