[libreoffice-l10n] Bad XML introduced in weblate / Guides
Hi I was testing the French translation of the Calc Guide in weblate and found a strange or buggy behaviour of weblate in French. https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/user-guides-experiment/calc-guide-24/cg2400-preface/fr/?checksum=582f44377d94f7e3 On saving the string, weblate adds a space before all colons (:) inside the tags, which breaks the XML. If I'm not mistaken, that must be fixed. XML must be preserved as-is. Tested with Firefox and Brave. The issue does not show in pt-BR. -- Olivier Hallot LibreOffice Documentation Coordinator Rio de Janeiro - Brasil - Local Time: UTC-03:00 LibreOffice – free and open source office suite: https://www.libreoffice.org Respects your privacy, and gives you back control over your data http://tdf.io/joinus -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

Hi Annabelle On the bottom of the Help page https://help.libreoffice.org/master/de/text/swriter/guide/auto_off.html?DbPAR=WRITER#bm_id3154250 you have LibreOfficeDev zeichnet automatisch eine Linie, wenn Sie eines der folgenden Zeichen dreimal hintereinander eingeben und dann die Eingabetaste drücken: - _ = * ~ # Wählen Sie Extras – AutoKorrektur – AutoKorrektur-Optionen… Klicken Sie auf das Register Optionen. Deaktivieren Sie das Markierfeld "Umrandung anwenden". which explains why "border" is in this page. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate: help ranking what you need :)
HI Sophie My suggestions for weblate are 1) a link in the Weblate UI to go to the root of the project. In other words: to be able to go directly to https://translations.documentfoundation.org/languages/pt_BR/libo_help-master/ without having to select language (menu Languages - pt-BR) and then click in LibreOfficeHelp - master. 2) Have Machine Translation as a suggestion alongside with Memory Translation. Today, in Help long strings, I copy between Weblate and a free machine translation service (Google, Bing, Deepl, Matecat...) to spare typing effort especially when weblate memory translation returns no match. Machine translation served as suggestion forces a second read before committing translation. 3) Remove the extra duplicate Glossary projects I have in my weblate screen (I have 6 in the master UI project and 3 entries in the master Help) Thanks for the nice work of the L10n team Olivier Em 23/02/2022 05:47, sophi escreveu: Hi all, The Board would like to dedicate a budget to fund some Weblate issues/enhancements and I'd like to have your feedback on what would be the most important for your team. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate - missing suggestions from translation memory?
Hi Sophie Em 21/02/2022 11:29, sophi escreveu: About the delay, I'm asking our infra team to have a look. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate - missing suggestions from translation memory?
Hi Stan Em 19/02/2022 15:42, Stanislav Horáček escreveu: Hi, when translating new strings in Weblate, I encounter that the suggestions from translation memory are not reliable. I also have very poor match from translation memory. When nothing comes out, or a poor match is thrown, I call Google translator to return better match for pt-BR, saving me a lot of typing effort. In my case (pt-BR), machine translation supersedes weblate translation memory. [libreoffice-l10n] No way to contact weblate users
I set my notifications configuration to be informed on all activities related to pt-BR in weblate. Excellent. Occasionally, I get suggestions from people that I never had contact before. Since the notification shows the full name, I know the person is registered in weblate. I have no way to contact back because the notification comes from hostmaster@tdf . My current rights don't let me see weblate users list. I'd like a way to be able to contact weblate users, beyond suggestion messaging (e.g. an e-mail). [libreoffice-l10n] Bulk translation of new " stock" strings
Hi 1) The recent additions of LibreOffice UI has some "stock" strings repeated in many files. For example https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-master/dbaccessmessages/pt_BR/?q=state:%3Ctranslated _Add _Cancel _Delete _OK ... Up to 13 new strings like these above. Is there a way to apply a translated string to all occurrences of these "stock" strings in the many weblate projects? So far I had to go one by one and it is dull. 2) even adding a translation to say, "_Yes", my translated string is not offered in the memory translation for the next occurrence of "_Yes". TM does not seem record new translations recently (for the given stock strings) Thanks -- Olivier Hallot LibreOffice Documentation Coordinator Rio de Janeiro - Brasil - Local Time: UTC-03:00 LibreOffice – free and open source office suite: https://www.libreoffice.org Respects your privacy, and gives you back control over your data http://tdf.io/joinus -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

[1] We migrated of the ahelp contents to the extended tips of the corresponding widgets in the *dialogs* only. As you correctly pointed, many other ahelp tags are related to UNO commands (menus and toolbars) as well as an old internal HID number, and the migration/reuse is still open. Therefore, we keep these non-migrated ahelp contents within tags in the Help pages because there are relevant contents to preserve and is scattered in all the Help awaiting a proper solution to reuse them. > > Are there more changes still to come, or should the extended tips be > considered ready to translate? In the latter case, can someone confirm > that the extended tips in LO UI will be considered the "source of truth" > going forward, so that translators will not painstakingly translate and > review them just to find them later overwritten by the ahelp strings in > Help? Any bulk changes will be addressed in a way to reduce to a minimum translation rework. The extended tips of dialogs will not be bulk-rewritten anymore. You can translate them. Some languages had the Help fully translated and our script reused the translation. Other languages hadn't the Help translated so the translation now is on the UI part of weblate. Last but not least, extended tips in dialogs can be updated, improved and corrected. That must be carried with the dialog tools such as Glade, in the /core/ project. The translation procedure works as usual. Feel free to report mistakes in the weblate comments. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] transfer of extended tooltips
Hi Milos The migration of ahelp to extended tips for dialogs (ui file) is done. We have carried the ETs of all languages, some languages had the Help fully translated, other languages had'nt, so an English or empty translation showed in weblate UI-master/ project. From now on the dialogs extended tips are to be edited in the source code. The ahelp with hid=".uno:command" and hid="HID_IN_CAPITAL_LETTERS" were not touched. They will be addressed later - help welcome. Actually the list of the dialogs are in the patches, some dialogs have been touched by 2 or more patches (e.g. cui/ ). The list is quite long. https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?qt=grep=118148 https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/q/status:merged+project:core+author:olivier.hallot%2540libreoffice.org > > Now, if I want to check correctness of the translations, I just randomly > select a dialog to see if it has tooltips. I would like to do that in a > systematic way - a list might help here. > > What would help even more is to display a dialog with translated strings > in glade. Is that possible? If yes, how to do that? You can use Glade to see the extended tips and even correct them if they are wrong. But use Glade 3.36 because older versions have bugs that erases extended tips. The ET can be seen in the Accessible-description field of the Accessibility tab of the selected widget. Not every accessible-description is filled and widgets to look at are those that requires human intervention (selectors, entry boxes, radio buttons, check boxes etc...). Having filled existing ETs, the challenge now is to review them in the UI, fill the missing ETs. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Translation of extended tooltips
HI Tuomas Em 20/08/2020 07:36, Tuomas Hietala escreveu: > > Also, will the strings be moved or just copied? I.e. will there be two > copies of each extended tip to keep in sync? The strings are copied. No changes in Help, and contents inside tag will continue. Synching back from extended tips to is possible but will require some amount of development in the Help build. Note: At the moment, we are only working to copy contents that belongs to a dialog (known as an *.ui file). Contents related to .uno command and HID codes often related to menus and toolbars) will be addressed later. Quality of the ahelp contents really deserves a second look at the source level (English) and is a long-term, on going improvement work. The extended tips copy from the tags aims to both rescue the extend tips feature and existing contents and spare translation rework. Finally, given the status of the (mis)usage in the Help, the copy is a semi-automatic task.
