RE: [LegacyUG] unknown surnames
I like the idea of using privacy brackets [[]] in the name field but upon looking in the help file it would seem that this option is only supported in the notes. Is this true? Can [[]] be used in the name fields? Re: [LegacyUG] unknown surnames
The Descendant Narrative also has the option to insert underlines for missing names, dates and places. The Family Group Sheet has a variation on this. It will insert a small name, date, place for missing information. These are positioned in the top left of the box where the information should be inserted. Jennifer, I just leave the field blank. This doesn't cause any problems on screen or in reports, and in the normal Name List, all the people without surnames show at the top of the list. Re: [LegacyUG] unknown surnames
Laura, You make a very valid point for the purposes of your reports, which in this case are designed to elicit a response from the recipients. It also illustrates that the treatment of unknowns depends on the personal choice and end use, as I would not wish for underscores except for the purpose which you describe.
