I can't get the 'align' parameter to have any effect on label text in
definitions. Here is a simple test case:

Metapost in MkIV is different from MkII and all labels are typeset
and colored in TeX, if you want a label use textext(...).
My \textext{...} (which is only defined in MkII) is just

Two remarks:
1) In this case the equation

is there is something in the flowchart package to position text on
the line in the same way as I did in my example without \clap like
e.g. \label[cb]{...}.

The new label macro can use labelfont (or defaultfont, I always forget
what metapost uses) to switch the font. In that case there should also be
a label color, unless
