Re: [NTG-context] zint module on LMTX

2022-03-16 Thread Adam Reviczky via ntg-context
Hi Pablo,

You are correct, the LuaMetaTeX file is still expecting the old "isbn" as
the name, whereas the MKIV running zint directly requires the new one with
"isbnx".
Not sure with which zint version the "isbn" got changed to "isbnx".

@Hans Hagen can you update the libs-imp-zint.lmt

to have the same interface for MKIV and LMTX:

https://github.com/contextgarden/context-mirror/compare/beta...reviczky:patch-4

- ["code 128"] = 20, ["isbn"] = 69, ["han xin code"] = 116,
+ ["code 128"] = 20, ["isbnx"] = 69, ["han xin code"] = 116,

- if lower(code) == "isbn" then
+ if lower(code) == "isbnx" then

This way the sample works in the same way for both MKIV and LMTX:

zint-test.tex
---
\usemodule[zint]
\starttext
\barcode[alternative=isbnx, text=9783865419026, width=4cm]
\stoptext
---

context zint-test.tex
context --luatex zint-test.tex

Hi Adam,

I have just installed version 2.10.

"isbn" works, but "isbnx" doesn’t. As already reported is an
unrecognized option that is also listed as available alternative (weird).

As said, for some strange reason, "isbnx" doesn’t work on my Linux machine.

On Windows, I need to check the issue further.

[NTG-context] Calling in chapter number in list={}

2022-03-16 Thread jbf via ntg-context
I wonder if there is a way I can call in the chapter number in the TOC,
although that number is not used for chapters as such. I know the
chapter number is 'remembered' anyway, so there is probably a way I can
call it in just for the TOC.

The context for this question is the layout for book which comprises
individual contributions, and each contribution has its own
author/copyright (hence the individual chapters bear a title without a
number, but the editor who has compiled these wants them numbered in the
TOC).

I currently call the author name in the TOC with:

\define[1]\SectionTocEntry{%

\leftaligned{#1}\par% title. \leftaligned is needed

\hskip1cm\relax\doifnot{\structurelistuservariable{author}}{}{\structurelistuservariable{author}}%

}

\setuphead[chapter] of course includes number=no.

\setuplist[chapter] is currently set as:

[label=yes,distance=1.2cm,style=normal,before=\blank,after=\blank,textstyle=normal,alternative=c,textcommand=\SectionTocEntry,]

And for the moment I simply use, as part of the \startchapter[]
description: list={1. This is the rather long title of the first
chapter, with the number included at the beginning}.

While that gives me the number of the chapter, it does not give me
correct indentation when the chapter title runs to more than one line.
What I would prefer to do is to be able to call the chapter number
automatically with placing 1., 2., etc. in list={}.

Many thanks for your reply, Hans.

I have version 2.9.2 on Linux and version 2.10 on Windows.

I’ll try to install the new version on Linux and report results here.

Hi Pablo,

If you use an older version of zint, maybe "isbn" instead of "isbnx" would
work.

I have used both isbnx and qrcode successfully with zint 2.10 on linux.

\usemodule[zint]
\starttext
\barcode[alternative=isbn,text=9783865419026,width=4cm]
%\barcode[alternative=isbnx,text=9783865419026,width=4cm]

I’ll refer to the German hyphenation pattern list as an authority
(https://lists.dante.de/mailman/listinfo/trennmuster) :-) But I do
believe that you, Thomas, are right and that Eiwei-ßes is correct (while
Ei-weißes is much better anyway). It is in fact logical: ‘ß’ in the new
spelling means that the preceding sound is long, hence it has to be
spelt that way always, not “analysed” as ‘ss’. If you were to hyphenate
Straße as Stras-se, it would indicate a different pronunciation.

Best,

Arthur

Sorry, Willi, but that hyphenation is correct, and your suggestion was
also wrong in the previous iterations of German orthography. Only ck was
changed to k-k; hyphenation of ß a s-s was only allowed if you replaced
ß by ss anyway (like in Switzerland).

Re: [NTG-context] Force a hyphenation

2022-03-16 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz via ntg-context

Hi Willi,

I must admit that after the reform some 20 years ago, I'm no longer
certain about German rules. But I think that in fact, according to the
new rules, ß is no longer hyphenated the way you suggest. Duden § 164.3:
"Ein einzelner Konsonantenbuchstabe im Wortinneren kommt in der Regel
auf die neue Zeile; von mehreren Konsonantbuchstaben trennt man nur den
letzten ab.

Zum Beispiel
[…]
Grü-ße, hei-ßen

So Eiwei-ßes may in fact be correct... But I assume that Arthur has some
authoritative answer to this question.

Best

Thomas

Ditto - working for me as well.

I completely deleted everything and re-installed using the 64-bit MacOS ARM
image on this page.

The normal install steps worked: i.e unzip; move the "context-osx-arm64" parent
directory to where you want it to be (/home/Users//Applications) in my
case; ran the install script using the command ". ./install.sh" and it all
installed nicely. I then added the path it told me about to my .zprofile file
and to the engine file that I use. Logged out and in just to make sure the
paths were picked up and it all works from both command line and from TeXShop.
